    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, and then click the Firewall tab.
    2. Click the lock icon and enter an administrator name and password.
    3. Click Firewall Options.

  • on registration of the desktop icons are not displayed

Registration using Windows XP, the desktop icons do not appear.

You see only your background image and the wallpaper?

Miss all your desktop icons and you don't see the taskbar at the bottom of the screen or are simply missing icons and you can see the taskbar at the bottom?

Check the simple things first.  Right-click on an open space on your desktop, choose Arrange icons by and make sure the option show desktop icons has a check mark next to it.  This will work if you don't miss you that the desktop icons, but still see the Start button and the taskbar.  If you are missing as the Start button and the taskbar, which isn't your problem.

If only you can see your wallpaper background picture and don't see the desktop icons and no start button or taskbar, this means that the explorer.exe program does not run (and it must be running) or the explorer.exe program are usually afflicted.  A good way to think about at the moment, it is that the process explorer.exe "is" your desktop.

If this is the case of malware in general prepares.

What is your system brand and model?

What is your version of XP and the Service Pack?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Sometimes your anti malware program to quarantine (and indeed remove) your file explorer.exe (or other critical files on the XP system) if it finds that the file is infected.  The file may really be infected, but you can know for sure and then reconsider your anti malware options.

First, you need to get your work desk in order to have room for manoeuvre, then you can solve your problem of potential malware.

Of your background image, press Ctrl-Alt-Del and open Task Manager.

Look at the processes tab and if the process explorer.exe is not running, start it as follows:

In Task Manager, click file, new task, and in the Open box, enter:

    %windir%\explorer.exe

Click OK and see if get you your office.  If you get an error, we need to know what it says.

If explorer.exe is already running in the processes tab, it is likely that the object of the affection and will need to be replaced (which is not difficult).

If you notice that the explorer.exe process is already running in the Task Manager, highlight the explorer.exe process, and then click end process to stop and start a new explorer.exe process as described above.

If things look right now, your system is still not fixed, but it should be enough usable so now you can fix it.

I would start with these scans:

Perform scans for malware first, then these scans by operating clean, difficulty of problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

Please report back with information about your system and your results if you need additional assistance.

  • The desktop icons do not respond after the use of IE

    Hello

Anyone got a solution for this? When the computer is turned on I can use the icons on the desktop, no problem. However, after I used Internet Explorer from the desktop icons don't respond well the pograms can be opened from the start menu. As the recent problem I tried uninstalling some updates recently installed, without solving the problem. Using Windows Vista and IE9

After that I used Internet Explorer from the desktop icons do not respond

Does that mean exactly?   For example, what do you see?   For the best answer to this question, you could use ProcMon and know what modules are involved when you do what these are.   ;  )

However, without using ProcMon you can check with the Manager task or resource or ProcExp monitor if there is always a hidden background iexplore.exe processes running or anything related to IE which started as a result of your using IE.   If so then try to kill these processes.   Etc.

Related to this, you could also consider what you used IE before your symptoms occurred.   This means that would understand that make your "desktop icons" and change it to something more neutral.   For example, if you had clicked on was a shortcut Internet (aka the .url file) that requires a network connection, change for people who only runs locally, such as about: blank.   So if you could close the window that has opened and always use the shortcut you would have refined your description of symptom to involve the network connections.

Related to that, would be your security package, for example, some are trying to act as a hidden proxy to "analyze" the HTTP traffic.   Then the problem would not be IE but the hidden proxy.  Etc.

You can't wait for a "fix" until you have a fully understood symptom.   More details and diagnosis is necessary IMO.

  • Show hidden/missing of the desktop icons

original title: hide the desktop icons

Hide the icons on desktop on Windows 7 seems a fairly common theme in these forums, but I still have to find a solution that works. The standard response is to right click on the desktop, click view, and then remove the checkmark "show desktop icons". To do this I have to go through the process, not once but twice. After signing and signature later back on I have to repeat this procedure. Tutorial Windows gives the impression that removing the "Show desktop icons" check will keep these icons are displayed until you handed the check mark. This isn't the case for me. Miss me how crucial link in this puzzle?

    Thank you very much.

No matter how many new accounts are created, one of them must be considered with the administrator account and corruption is obviously attached to her.

Incorrect answer.  You can have hundreds + administrator accounts.  There are still only * one * original built-in Administrator account.  If every account you create ends with this issue, then something is corrupt overall.  If the problem is only for a user account once you make them an administrator - I'd guess malware infestation can only be solved in the long term by a format and a new installation of the system and all of the affected software.

When you create a new account - copy less.  Ignore the suggestion to Microsoft article.

What you want to copy is: Desktop, Favorites and Documents on the Start Menu.  Leave everything else at the moment.

Let me be as accurate as possible...

If your old account user was named "GoodbyeDolly" and your new account is "HelloDolly", you will copy the following (after creating and logging into the new "HelloDolly" administrator-level account).

    Copy everything under:
    C:\Users\GoodbyeDolly\Favorites
    TO
    C:\Users\HelloDolly\Favorites

    Copy everything under:
    C:\Users\GoodbyeDolly\Desktop
    TO
    C:\Users\HelloDolly\Desktop

    Copy everything under:
    C:\Users\GoodbyeDolly\Documents
    TO
    C:\Users\HelloDolly\Documents

    Copy everything under:
    C:\Users\GoodbyeDolly\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
    TO
    C:\Users\HelloDolly\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

Nothing else at this time.  NOTHING.  Not a single file.  Not a single setting.  Do nothing else for the new account in terms of trying to get stuff from the old account.

You * will * need to configure your homepage (s) Internet.  You should know where your previously saved word, excel, and other office documents.  You must assign the account 'HelloDolly' his own password.  There may be dozens of other customizations that can be (will be) different for each user of a computer that you * will * have to do.  Wallpaper, computer sounds when you do certain things, the disposal of the office icons themselves, the order of the start menu, which is visible on the taskbar and how and when, etc.

If your question is not more with this method - come back and let us know.

  • XP... The desktop icons will not put

XP... The desktop icons will not put. I did a lot of research on this issue, read the different responses on many forums, including and have tried much of the recommendations... I'm not familiar with the functions of establishment of the arrangement of the desktop icon and this is the first time I met this kind of problem. "Lock Web items on desktop" is checked, "Snap to grid" is not checked (my preference, but I find that it will check mysteriously itself after the icons rearrange themselves to the left of the screen, apparently by making use of automatic reorganization, even if it is not checked), I tried securityguy14 registry change response dated December 7, 2009 , have installed and use the program "Icon restore" that changes the Recycle Bin, my computer, and another icon of office, I do not remember to add a backup/restore function for the setting icon on the desktop... is what bought me a brief period of mental health before they rearrange themselves after a few constantly unidentifable strike entered sometimes without "rhyme or reason", not unique to anything, preventing me from shrink down to a specific cause. I conducted several audits of malware with paid and free programs and there is no indication of anything invading my system, it works fine other wise. Help!
