My Imac 9.1 is extensible to 10.5.8 10.6

I got this IMAC and it has OSX 10.5.8, I can not update Safari or anything unless I go on 10.6.x or more. This computer is extensible. This is a 24 "/ 2.93/4gig/640gb SD"

Thank you

Yes; It can be improved at least as much as El Capitan.

I posted this before. Always kills me. Thing more annyoying on the bridge after the path bar always disappears.

I have a folder of images. They have cached, in fact. Yet when I click on the thumb, I have a second 3 wait for the upcoming Preview in the home.

    Rich,

Thanks, it's bridge not PS, but I guess you know who.

Would you say you are 95% sure that would solve this problem of microphone?

It is not an important factor as you point out it's not much.

But I wonder if these imacs are upgraded? Not like the old G5 with slot machines you can insert maps...

Yes, it's the bridge not PS but bridge must put in cache ALL your previews. If she is forced to save these previews (and cache) on the disc, which is highly probable with only 2 GB of RAM on your computer, it will be slower than molasses. Most of the RAM will be used by the OS, PS, bridge and nothing else running in time. (You can use the activity monitor to see what slice of the pie bridge RAM gets.  ( http://macperformanceguide.com/Mac-Monitoring-memory.html)  And Yes, iMacs are easily extensible.

You have a great computer that is hampered by a serious lack of RAM.  In the immediate future, you must make sure that NOTHING else is running while you work in Bridge / PS.

iMac RAM is easily extensible and RAM is on DIMM.  It is not very different from the time G5. There are videos that explain all the steps involved.

The following comparison is with MacPro and PS, no bridge, but the results would be comparable:

  • I can't synchronize my ipad air on my imac

I have an iPad Air which has about 2 years. I've always been able to sync with my iMac (OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 version) but tonight I tried and I get the "Closed Library" message and a "hooked" extensible noise. I'm doing something wrong?

Restart the computer and try again.

  • Addition of DIY SSD for iMac end 2013 now out of warranty

    Data sheet:

    • iMac (21.5 inch, at the end of 2013)
    • 2.9 GHz i5
    • 8GBs of RAM
    • 1 TB HARD DRIVE

He is now out of warranty, so I think about adding an internal SSD flash drive. However, I did no workshop manual and have never looked inside. However, before making such a change, I would like to know if it is possible, how it will be difficult and if one SSD 2.5 "can be added or a PCIe SSD if there is a slot on the motherboard.

If you have useful information, I would greatly appreciate your passing along.

The end of 2013 21.5 "has only one SATA connector on the system board so your only choice is to replace the hard drive, cannot add a second internal drive. You can find several guides repair for your computer here https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel_21.5%22_EMC_2638

If you decide to open your iMac and replace the HD you can consider upgrading your ram 16 GB as yours is the last 21.5 "with ram slots even if they are not user extensible https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1600DDR3S16P/

  • iMac 21.5 "retina - HARD drive upgrade and / or install the Fusion drive?

    Hi all

I recently bought a retina-iMac 21.5 "(fin 2015 obvs), without realizing it when I did so that it came with a slow hard disk 5400 RPM that will larn me - do your research the next time Cameron!" In any case, I'm trying to sell it, but my search for a buyer continues, I also try to establish - without much success until now - if a hard drive upgrade and/or installation of a fusion player any is possible. I am aware that the RAM in this model is not extensible.

    Any entry received with gratitude

Although it is possible it is a company very difficult and will void any warranty future and Apple. Have you thought from the external drive Thunderbolt?

  • Do I need a new iMac?

I have a 2008 24 "iMac at home that I use for graphic design and general use. She is still ongoing to 10.5.8 because of some old software, that I was not willing to buy, especially now that Adobe uses the subscription model. I replaced the HD and the screen in detail, but the BONE itself is really starting to show its age. I would love to continue using it until it dies, but the limits with the operating system and software are originally problems more. Also, it tends to slow down much after that I used it for a while and requires a reboot or some 'off' time to get up to speed. Browsers are more extensible and I get constant messages telling me that they are no longer compatible when visiting certain sites. Facebook is almost unusable. Photoshop and other programs I have on it work well for most, and I'll probably keep around as simple workstation when I upgraded. But it has become rather limiting.

24 "is perfect for my work space. My son has the thinner 21.5 "model of (I think) 2013, but this form factor seems a bit small for me what I'm doing. After the visit to the Apple Store, I almost think that the current model of 27 '' is too big, but I would probably get used to. That's what I would try to upgrade to, funds, and all permits. I am currently using the Mac Pro 2012 w / Cinema Display to work, so am a bit spoiled by all this space on the screen and the ability. I need the portability, so laptops seem unnecessarily expensive for what you get. I don't have a ton of power for video editing or work with very large files and the 2008 iMac is sufficient for most.

Well, it's tedious, but I wanted to give some information. I wonder if there is some way I can get some time of my 2008 iMac. I can't wait to have some older software become unusable if I upgrade the operating system, and I don't even know if she plays well with El Capitan, however it is supposed to be able to handle it. In addition, I am concerned my Time Machine backup files may not be accessible, but maybe it's a question to a whole new thread.  then, have I not all options to modernize and to continue to use this iMac without losing all existing programs and old files slightly, and if I bite the bullet, would you say that the retina 5K 27 "iMac is a good machine. I enjoyed my 2008 iMac, but he had more than his share of the problem compared to the workstations of the end of the 1990s and early 2000s.

Any input is appreciated, thank you!

A 2008 iMac is very old, you can continue to operate it as you want, it seems that you are aware of its limits, then how long you choose to use it is yours of course. Current IMacs are incredibly more efficient and faster than your 2008. You can watch one of the lanes are refurbished Apple machines. They have no problem, you can save hundreds of dollars and have the same warranty as the new (1 year) and also be able to get the AppleCare for it. They are almost identical to the new machines, the ONLY limitation is that they sell out quickly, and they may not have the exact configuration you want. If they don't so be patient and keep looking because the inventory is changing very quickly...

If a 21.5 "display is too small and a 27" is too large, then you can be a candidate for a Mac Mini. By taking this road you can choose any screen you want. The current MM Limited upgrade options (a bit like iMacs) is much more powerful than your current iMac.

Running of the software has its limits too, as you know. From now on, I highly recommend that maintain you your applications. By continuing to run the outdated software, you will still find yourself in the same situation. This means that when you want to upgrade the hardware, your software costs will be extremely expensive. If you stay in the know, at least the cost of updates (assuming that there is a cost) is spread in time and is not as painful.

  • Just got an iMac nine to use domestic and it is incredibly slow

    Hello

I just got an iMac 2015 submitted for use in the home, and it is very slow. I just implemented this evening, and I found that even before you install anything but immediately after you set up the computer, it could slip. So I decided to continue to get the parameters of my set and when he continued to be very slow (beach balls, long for applications) to open, impossible to install Office, etc., I decided to run Etrecheck. Here are the results of my race:

It seems I have a problem with the RAM not enough, but I find it a bit ridiculous as 8 GB in a device from end of 2015 (for an expensive computer no less) isn't enough to run at least * somewhat * smoothly. This seems to have solved some problems, but as you can see, I run not really much at the moment other than Safari, which makes me fear. Has anyone else had problems of this kind? Is there a way to reduce the amount of memory used by El Capitan, or could I possibly downgrade to something like Yosemite? Or do I just have a defective machine?

    Thank you!

Memory is not the problem, OS X is not the problem, nor the computer the problem; It's the shit you have loaded on the computer. Here's a suggestion.

Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

    1. Select utility disc in the Menu Utility, then click the continue button.
    2. When loading disk utility, select the volume (entered into withdrawal, usually Macintosh HD) in the list to one side.
    3. Click Delete in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
    4. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    5. Click on the apply button, then wait for the done button to activate and click on it.
    6. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    7. Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

[Exclusive to use the foregoing authorization to theratter by khati.]

This should install a new copy of Mac OS X on the computer. Now, install any third-party software and give the computer a few hours to complete Spotlight indexing during which the computer will run slowly. Then it check to see if it works OK. Do not install any third-party anti-malware or software equipment cleaning as you had installed before. You have not need software Path Finder, CleanMyMac or other MacPaw, Spotify, or stream. Part of the problem is the installation of the software that is not completely compatible that looks like DropBox. You may need an updated version.

    1. Uninstall sophos av-ware in accordance with the instructions of developers.

It robs your system of valuable resources and not necessary with OS X

2 remove any UN-nessessary launch, the user login items and Internet Plugins user.

  • Can I upgrade the RAM in my iMac 2016?

I went to buy some 3rd party from 8-16 GB of RAM and I was told that it is not extensible. Is this true? Apple can do? I him would not have bought it if I knew or the less found extra $$$ to upgrade when ordered! It's a 21.5 16.1 2.8 model.

    1 n °

    2. Yes, it is true.

    3. not for a 2015 21-inch iMac, which has left the factory.

2 GB of RAM is the absolute minimum to install El Capitan. If you want to run all programs then you need to increase the amount of RAM.

  • The VRAM/GPU may be improved/changed on my iMac?

I have an iMac 27 "i5 2.7 Ghz 4 GB ram 1 TB of storage and an AMD Radeon HD 6770 M with 512 MB of VRAM mid 2011.

I know that Aries is easily extensible and I intend to upgrade.

But I want to upgrade the 512 MB at least 1 GB of VRAM weeny.

Is it possible to store service apple will do this or is there another company that can do it for me because I've heard to wear some gloves and do things really technical to change the gpu and vram.

If it didn't look so hard I order another GPU to dv warehouse and install it myself.

If you know a place that will make it please let me know. Otherwise if it is fairly easy to install yourself let me know that aswell.

    Thank you, mohawkpod.

No, macOS Sierra is not compatible with your hardware.

    Here is an analytical compatibility.

  • I need to buy new RAM for my iMac mid-2011. What are the specific specifications?

I have a mid-2011 iMac, 21.5 inches, with an Intel Core i5 to 2.7 GHz and 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 processor. What RAM memory should I buy? There are a lot of options with different specifications listed on Amazon, and none seems correct. Help, please! Thank you

  • Freezes and restarts on 2015 5K running El Capitan iMac and am ready to freak me out

    Hi guys,.

If I posted my check and reports being panic, could someone tell me what caused random freezes and restarts on my iMac 5 K - ish, El Capitan running? I am a designer/Retoucher and I am in the middle of a big job, of course.

He went on and off for a few months. I have cleared my startup disk and played fresh OS installs (didn't even use Migration Assistant just to be safe), three times. I installed apps one at a time try to refine what is the cause but could not.

At first I thought it was my mouse Logitech G502 because when I went to an old mouse for a few weeks the problem has disappeared. But yesterday, listening to iTunes via Airplay and working in InDesign, the system froze again.

I wonder if she might be SoftRAID(4) and/or my two RAIDs of 4 external ThunderBay?

    Thanks in advance!

    Steve

We can take a stab, please publish a report full of EtreCheck, and if we do not see everything that you can post your last report KP.
