We tried to recover with just a disk of Windows Vista, but when type us the product key in the box, it says something like "invalid key. But it is the right key. What can we do to recover his computer? Help, please!

Hey

If you don't have a recovery disk, you must have a vista recovery partition

with an acer try to press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process

If she then asks a password the default is 5 or 6 zeros

    Hello

    Yes; It's normal.

In addition to the original operating system, you have updates, restore points of the system (set at 15% of the capacity of the hard drive) etc, etc.

    It will continue to grow.

If you are worried about anything whatsoever, do a disk cleanup.

I want to upgrade to a newer Windows operating system Windows Vista Home Pro 64-bit. What is the recommended procedure? I see that Windows 7 or 8, a free update to Windows 10 is offered. Should I buy 7 or 8 then you spend 10 or just buy 10?

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hello

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

The recovery set supplied with the computer should find the default computer.  Probably will not even need to enter the key.

Don't forget to patch (probably manually) with SP1 and SP2 after you're done.  Then download the updates (MUCH) released after that.

    1. do you have a new or different XP pro drive?
    2. the new drive has a different product key for XP operating system installed on the desktop IBM?

If the disc XP Professional nine and a key of different product, then you can install the computer with the Windows Vista operating system in a dual-boot configuration.

See the links for more information on multiboot - below

Method 1: Put the computer to boot and then check to see if you can save

Follow step 1 in the link below,

Method 2: You can follow the steps described in the article below

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

  • Do not open programs after installing Windows update operating system Windows Vista

Original title: MS Office programs do not open after installation of Windows update to Windows Vista operating system

After having decided to install the Windows Update my computer told me was available all my software as my programs MS Offfice is no longer open.  I don't know what to do.  The only thing that still works is the Windows Media Player.  I can't open Word or Excel, I can't access my photos.  Open Internet Explorer is like a weird nightmare but I am able to access the Internet.  I tried reinstalling my MS Office software, which did not work.  I have no idea what to do to solve the problem, but I need my computer back. It was good except for its slow, when I open certain programs, now I can't access something.  Any ideas what I should do to correct the nightmare?

  • "Missing operating system" is displayed when you try to start Windows 10

I have been using bootcamp to access the 10 Windows for quite awhile. It was working perfectly until a member of the family installed a Windows Update, but the battery is dead during the update. Following this window would charge any. A black screen with a blinking cursor. After that, I went back on fairing and wrong used the partition synchronization tool. Now, Windows is in a worse state and the "Missing operating system" message when you try to get back in. In addition, the Mac startup disk no longer allows me to reboot the laptop using the bootcamp partition, as if the partition is not more detected. Disk utility simply shows a greyed out "Disk0s4."

  • Boot Windows 7 "Missing Operating System" message by adding external hard 1gig on usb

Hi - I just bought a 1 GB Toshiba external hard drive.

When my PC running Windows 7 - the external hard drive is connected and works fine - but when I close and come to restart I get message "Missing Operating System". One point to mention is that I renamed E to G external drive letter. If I unplug the USB hard disk, start works fine and I can plug back into the external hard drive without any problem. Someone at - it ideas on how to fix this please? Thank you.

PS I also have a 500 meg external drive which worked well. Note the 1 gig disc problem also arises even when the 500 meg disk is removed.

    Hello

Go into your BIOS and change the boot order.

It tries to Boot from your external hard drive when you receive this message.

Do the internal hard drive first in the boot order or disable USB compatible with the start (or similar words for USB devices).

    See you soon.
