When I bring the firefox browser there is no address bar, no menu bar, no toolbar, no command bar. There is only a web page. Out I have to end task with my computer.

Frequently asked questions after update to Firefox 3.6

You can be full screen display mode, in the case of using keyboard key F11 supporting this point of view full screen switches on and outside.

If you are able to see the tab bar, then maybe it's that you're not used to the new versions that tend to use the FirefoxButton (usually) Orange at the top left. You will find methods to access the missing information by clicking the firefox button.

We have no idea what version of firefox you are using, but I'm guesing it's on a

  • Address bar "I'm feeling lucky search" missing feature in firefox 4?

In previous versions of Firefox, I was able to type in the address bar and it would execute an "I'm feeling lucky search.
For example if I typed "firefox" in the address bar it would take me to www.mozilla.com. This feature seems to be missing in the latest version. Any ideas how to re-enable this function?

In Firefox 3.6, it uses Google search "Search by name" rather than "I'm Feeling Lucky." With innovation by the name search, it performs a search on Google and if there is a clear match he will take you on the site, otherwise, it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it searches only on Google, if you type something that is not recognized as a URL.

To get the behavior of Firefox 3.6 on Firefox 4, you must change a hidden preference.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Locate the preference keyword. URL, double-click it and change its value on the link below

    http://www.Google.com/search?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF - 8 & SourceId = navclient & gfns = 1 & q =

    I'm uploading the screenshot here.

Try to open a new window (Ctrl + N) in the case where you have opened a pop-up window via JavaScript on a web page that has hidden toolbars.

If this does not work then try to delete the sessionstore.js file in the closed Firefox with Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

  • Closed Firefox itself, updated itself and then restarted itself. But the capture, there is no address bar. No windows bar at the bottom either.

    Seriously guys.

I was in the middle of a YouTube video, firefox gives me the ability to "close the program or wait. I click wait, but it still crashes. Be it, right? Just restart it and return to my video... Nope. Nada.

Clever little "updating" Firefox dialog box appears. I said aloud, "hmm, I don't remember not accepting an update... not to mention firefox on a curious."

But I know, right? It's probably a new add-on, or an update for the Add-ons and plug-ins, I installed. It happens.

ALAS! Firefox opens again, but lack essential things! One of them being the address bar. All this has disappeared. Disappeared! Vahmooshed! GAHN!

My first thought was that I hit accidentally F-11. Joke on me, right?

    Nope.

Because not only the whole thing up there is missing, but also my whole bar Windows at the bottom disappeared. What in the blue blazing cahones Zeus going on, guys!

If there is an easy solution, I apologize in advance. I'm not so suhmart sumteyems. HURR durr.

But, if it is a form any layout 'full screen' you guys are showing, please give me a way to quarantine it from my computer. It's terrible, like flossing with razorwire while only naked in front of Grandma. I do not recommend!

But seriously. I know that I tried to be funny above, the devil, my username is an attempt at comedy. But I have a serious question and would appreciate an answer any.

Thank you in advance for not responding with (tl; dr).

~P.S~ The attached photo of John Cena is relevant. It's a description States how "SUDDEN AND FROM OUT OF NOWHERE" update of terror has been for me. In my view, is accurate. Yes.

So, I uh, just realized that all I had to do was click on "exit full screen".

    Well done, Firefox.

    Well played.

  • Can not enter in the address bar.

Since I usually use bookmarks or pinned tabs, it's perhaps a week or more as the last, I tried to do, but when I tried today the area of the address bar is there, but completely empty and the edge of the box seems to be missing to the left and down. The mouse arrow does not a cursor change when hovered over the box and I can't enter type.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

  • Can not navigate using the address bar

I can type an address in the address bar or choose from the drop-down list, but Firefox will not respond. I've updated my Add - ons, but that did not help, so I started the browser in safe mode, but the problem persists. I tried to install a more recent version, even though I was already up to date, but which has not yet solved the problem.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for publishing and confirming a create a new profile corrected it for you.

I have made a few posts and update most of them, but missed this thread so far. I'll uncheck the station you have chosen as a solution and mark this on the spot.

I know that is not intuitive, but for everyone suffering from this bug, it's a problem with the bookmarks database that breaks the: address bar. address bar | URL bar | awesome bar, or anything else you like.

Current fix suggested. (Bug 1180419 partner)
Rename the places.sqlite file as explained in this recently revised article.

I will post more shortly and updated information further down in this thread and edit my previous post/solution (#answer-750303)

There is one bug fix in one of the pre versions release already, and with a bit of luck, this will be in the regular version in the next few days.

  • FF 37 - I've removed my address bar, can't get it back

I upgraded to 38 FF, and it has some features that I didn't like the Pocket - click right on it and deleted the icon from the toolbar. Well, went to a site, and something came for a "Reader", tried that a blank page. I went to remove it too - right click and delete any missing address bar. When I try to open the Customize menu, it opens a new tab with a blank page. I went down to 37 FF, to see if that would fix it, but no luck. Now I have only a wide search window, and the icons for may Add ons in this toolbar. Here is a picture with the Customize tab empty. I searched around a solution but could not find anyone else as stupid. I could reset the FF to the default values, but I have a ton of plugins, the changes in the topic: config file, I can't even remember.

    Thank you!

    WOOHOO!

Restarted mode without failure. Curiously, the address bar was there, but to the right of the search bar. Open customize and reset default. Rebooted normally and everything is where it should be. Now I can try 38 FF...
