  • Power/battery icon missing Windows 7 system tray

I lost my battery power icon / of the system tray.  I tried a few of the things listed here but is still seems to give me trouble.
Like many others here, he is grayed and selected to 'off '.  I don't know what to do now.

I have a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have noticed that at the same time (thinking maybe it's a coincidence) that I deleted Kasperskey and added Norton 360.

I had this problem on and outside because I had Windows Vista.  This happens not so often now that I have Windows 7.  That's what I'm doing... I open the "Windows Task Manager" by pressing "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" or by pressing 'Shift and Ctrl' keys together, then press "Esc".  Click on the "Processes" tab and "'explorer.exe". " Select it and click "End process" at the bottom.  The taskbar and the whole system tray will be gone, but it's OK.  You will return to the Windows Task Manager.  This time in the 'Applications' tab, click on the button "new task".  Type "explorer.exe".  The sound icons and battery power / will reappear.  I hope this helps.  =)

  • living options volume and battery are grayed out.

My wife has a dell xps m1330.  the volume and the icon of life batteries have work then dissappeared.  I looked to where you would turn on them, but they grayed.  I can't turn their back on.  How do you get them back on?

    Hi Jarynelle,
Thanks for choosing Microsoft answers Forum.

This problem may occur if the Windows group policy disables the power (or battery), and Volume icons, or the registry keys related to notification area icons have corrupted. To re-enable and restore policies must be turned off, and the registry keys, cleared or fixed.
Activate the system via Local Group Policy Editor icons

Run GPedit.msc to start local Group Policy Editor.

Expand the tree and access Configuration user-> templates-> Start Menu and taskbar to administration.

Change the status value the value to Disable or not configured for the following group policies allow the display or the display of the icon in the notification area.

Volume: Remove the volume control icon

Power (battery) icon: remove the battery meter

Close the local Group Policy Editor.

Restart Explorer, Log off and log back or restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

User who uses Windows without Local Group Policy Editor can change the registry value via the Publisher of the registry instead.

Turn on the system icons to display or display via the registry

    Run the registry (RegEdit.exe) editor.
Navigate to the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Delete and delete the following registry values in the right pane:
    HideSCAPower
    HideSCAVolume

    NoTrayItemsDisplay
Then, navigate to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Yet once, remove all if found following registry values:
    HideSCAPower
    HideSCAVolume
    Exit Registry Editor.
Explore and restart, logoff and connection of the output again, or reboot the computer to apply the changes.

  • Why can't I show my battery icon after installation of the Vista SP2

I recently installed Vista SP2 and my Volume, network and power system icons have disappeared since that time.  I go into the bar area tasks and menus then Notification and check boxes for Volume and power network are grayed out, the clock is always accessible.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem, I have to go back to a previous restore point, or do I have to uninstall SP2

I had the same problem, but only with the battery and the sound icons, the network was ok. Chris-technician support suggested re-installing the drivers, after checking the driver updates. My drivers are up to date, so I reinstalled from the Device Manager and regained control of the display check boxes in the config of the taskbar menu. Strange thing is that I had to reboot twice more that the fix would "take." But now I have the icons in the taskbar and they work.
