Missing volume icon
I have a desktop Dell under Vista Home premium, with a sound card, speakers, etc. Until today, I always listened to music, but my icon volume disappeared so that I have no way to increase the volume. How do I make my icon visible volume again so I can adjust the volume?
Hi reynolds4321,
Thanks for posting your question on answers.microsoft.com
To redisplay your volume icon in the taskbar
- Click Start ORB
- In the search line type TASKBAR and STARTMENU
- In the list of programs, select bar TASKS and STARTMENU
- Select the tab area of Notification and under the system icons section, place a check next to VOLUME
- Click apply and then click OK
It should be visible in the toolbar again.
Please let us know if that fixes the problem or if assistance is needed.
Kind regards

My volume icon and control is missing
My volume icon and control is missing and I also think that the program is now defunct. A spokesman for AOL of sees has accessed our computer to 'clean up' to make it work better and I think that he has removed my volume and its program. When I tried to add the volume on my computer icon, he told me I do not have the program and install it. When I went to add the program by following the instructions, it took me to Microsoft, but there is no program called "volume and noise." In reading other posts, that it is said to right click on Start/Properties/Notification...but, I don't have the option "notification" under properties. What should I do?

Hello
Notification options are only available for Windows Vista and higher. The Control of the Volume icon may appear from the Control Panel.
You said that the Spokesman of AOL could have removed the Control of Volume, please make sure that the following files exist on your system to see if the Setting of the Volume has been either deleted or not%SystemRoot%\system32\sndvol32.exe
If you do not want to enable the display of the Control of the Volume icon, please try the following[1] method: Using the control panel to change the settings for sounds and Audio devices- On the start menu, select Control Panel.
- Double-click sounds and Audio devices.
- On the general tab, check Place volume icon in the taskbar
- Click OK
Thank you

Volumer icon missing blackBerry Smartphones
I recently let my brother use my phone and long story short when he gave it back I was missing the volume icon. I can't get it back. I can only go to vibrate through the square key. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
See if it is hidden. From the main screen hold down your ALT key, then click on an icon and choose Show all. See if you see your profiles icon then. If you do just ALT + click on it and uncheck Hide
Alternatively you can try to reset the theme. Go to Options | Theme. Of in this screen, press the menu key, and then choose Reset default theme.

Hello
My volume icon does not appear in the toolbar at the bottom... How can I get it back?
I tried: right click in the area of taskbar background; Click Properties; Notifications - but the Volume is grayed and I can't put a check mark in it. I also tried to go into it from the control panel: Double clicked on 'Her' but there is nothing there for me put the volume icon.
I use Vista 32 bit.
Also, my computer will not sleep. I have tried everything I was supposed to when I googled the question, but the computer won't even sleep! Any suggestions?
Thank you very much!

Can not adjust the volume unless I go to control panel - volume icon missing
My volume icons disappeared from the notification (lower-right) area and I can't adjust my volume levels of my office (I have to go to the control panel every time). When I right click to change the properties of the notification bar, the box next to volume under the "always show icon" is not Hi-limited and will not let me choose to always display of the volume icon. What can I do else?
This has been known to solve the problem for some. No guarantee, but it is safe and it is much much easier than this... just print first, then follow the instructions. Takes two minutes :)

If you're still having problems, then a system restore might be interesting to try.
