Model number of Windows Server 2012

Hi all

So ive downloaded the RTM Server 2012 and built a virtual machine in our environment ESX 5.0 without problem, turned the virtual machine in a model then deployed a machine from this model, but at the start of this new machine, it just sits at the Windows start screen (the part where the windows logo is displayed after the BIOS) and goes no further.  Until this ive left 20 minutes without movement, the small small circle with points going below the logo of windows so its continue to operate in someway and its still using 100% CPU but just not progress.

Anyone else had any question as a 2012 model?

Any suggestions for fixing?

Stew

Looks like the same problem, I had when I first installed a VM with 2012 GTR, which has been set using EFI instead of the regular BIOS (requires reinstall it). Control http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2021887 and perhaps http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2006859 too while you're there.

I have not tried to deploy as a model still well.

Anyway, with vSphere 5.1 released tomorrow-ish (and perhaps 5.0 U2?), there might be a fix or two around a few bugs when running in 2012.

5.0 U1 currently supports 2012/W8 with Support considerations:Tech Preview only.

  • How to update the model of RDS for Windows Server 2012 collection?

    Hi team,

I want to know how to update the collection of RDS model (model master sysprep) which is used to create the collection?

I tried the below way but did not get the update of the collection of virtual machines.

-Start the image of mater of sysprep

    -install the required components

-resysprep the image and stop it

-East went to the RDS Collection and added new virtual machines in collection (removed the old his)

Once created, I opened a session in the machines, but I don't see the updates (I installed some software in the sysprep image however and no is not there in the virtual machines in the pool)

Can someone let me know if I need to create a whole collection again or the way I do it is a proper way? If it's a good way what could be the reason why I get the new installed software model sysprep image in virtual machines created in the pool, based on the model?

How do we actually updated for security and other regular patches updated in virtual machines? In my view, we use the same approach?

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  • ProBook 6560 b: wireless network drivers - R2 Windows Server 2012

Would like to know if one got successfully installed Windows server 2012 R2 drivers. I try to install the drivers wireless for two days now and could not get their work. Any help would be really appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello:

I don't work for or represent HP.

All I can advise is that HP offers no support or drivers for all windows server operating systems for any mobile business or consumer they ever made.

With this track record, I doubt very much they will be.

In addition, it would be Intel to release Windows Server drivers for their wireless cards, not HP.

I've never seen a card driver wireless for windows server on the Intel Web site.

Normally the equivalent standard windows drivers work on Windows server most of the time.

For example: If you had installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on your laptop, wireless Intel W7 driver probably would work.

But since there is no equivalent W10 driver for the wireless card model that your laptop is, I have a feeling that is the reason why the wireless card does not work.

You may laugh with some of the advanced settings for the card under the Advanced tab in Device Manager to see if you can get the card to work.

    Enable WMM for example.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter: Activate the virtual machines on a host KVM

    Hello

I bought four licenses for sale at retail of Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. With the license of data center, I have the right to install a number of Windows Server R2 instances unmlimited 2012 on the physical machine with the associated license.

The question now is: How can I activate Windows in virtual machines?

As virtualization host, I use KVM, AVMA is not possible. I need a KMS host key to set up a KMS host. I tried to use my product key for the retail license but the VMAT does not accept the key, because it's a KMS - no key. Where should I paste my product key for the KMS host key?

    Kind regards

Might well want to mention the number of clients supported by the version

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 - HF ALL them do not install as "does not apply to this computer.

    Hello

A general question about patch installs.

I have several servers which are all Windows 2012 R2.   They don't have internet connections, so I have to install the patches manually.  I have download the HF from the download page of the ISO (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month.    I collect them and install in a facility in bulk during a release cycle (once or twice a year).   I just realized that no. HF have installed since JUNE 2014.  Each HF that appears in the directory WindowsServer2012R2 do not settle with a message "the update is not applicable to your computer.  Which is fine if that was true, but... I get this message for each HF ISO since June 2014.  NOT a single HF, it's applicable to my computer.   Would this be the case?  No HF apply to my 2012 since June of 2014 server systems?

This is my system information, and below that is the result of any attempt to install 95 HF

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 BSOD 0x0000013c

    Hello

I have some problems with one of my files Windows 2012 R2 servers. Each week the server crashes with a BSOD INVALID_IO_BOOST_STATE (code: 0x0000013c). Some research told me it should be a pilot with a memory leak.

Client: Windows Server 2012 R2 update, 10, LSI Logic/Paravirtual storage controller hardware version (tried both), NIC vmxnet3

    Host: HP Proliant DL380G7 and G8, ESXi 5.5 Update 1 and 2

3 other files with the same configuration servers have no problem, they are all from the same model.

Like I don't know what else to do, you have any suggestions how to fix?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards

    Roland Schauer

Oh wow, haven't seen it for a long time.

as for my analysis, it seems that your security software Trend Micro goes haywire in your system. Your OS crash caused by OVERLAPPED_MODULE: address regions of overlap 'TmXPFlt' and 'TMEBC64.sys'. Where 'TMEBC64.sys' belongs to 'Start clean boot Driver' Trend Micro and the TmXPFlt seems to have some sort of basis for security suite library. The threading button somehow an invalid memory, the operating system enters a kernel panic. I suggest another solution of security or patch up to the latest version available - application and operating system.

Roland, can you send us your landfills so we can take a look at as well?

    The purpose of this thread:
    1. a solution, if anyone else has this problem.
    2. If someone has a better knowledge of why this happens or how avoid feel free to explain it please.

The biggest problem is that the VM on the failed host installs via HA to my other ESXi in the cluster, each of them has started normally except my 2012 server s. Just the Automatic Startup Repair Wizard has started, and I couldn't do much from there... I tried a few things auto repair, but they could not fill...

So, I entered the command line tools and ran from diskpart. Discs not presented at all. That's where he hit that I use PVSCSI drivers for my 2012 s server so I was trying to understand how I could inject the command line, but I tried something else first...
I started the virtual machine on the ISO 2012 server. Tried the option repair, no OS not found to fix, so I chose a new installation and loaded drivers PVSCSI pvscsi-floppy, interrupted the installation and tried the repair option again. He said something like "Continue to start Windows Server 2012" and viola! The VM rebooted successfully and started successfully in the operating system.

All 3 2012 Server virtual machines on failure that esxi is affected. No Server 2008 or linux where affected machines but they do not use the pilot PVSCSI.

Anyone has a solution alter or maybe an explanation why this happened? This will happen if HA into action on my server 2012 s?

Is it possible to test or confirm without killing an ESXi host?

I am running vSphere 5.5 and I don't think that I had this problem with 5.0 or 5.1, but I'm not 100% sure that cause I don't remember no matter which GROUP or another that are running older versions of the failure.

Hardware version is 9, EFI boot.

    Thank you!

Finally, I solved this... Looks like a mistake to the EFI initialization after reset of a HA. I know EFI is not supported by FT but I'm only using HA I can't find anywhere that it says that it should not work.

This is how I fixed the corrupt WS2012 boots:

1 boot WS2012 ISO, select new installation, load drivers PVSCSI, interrupt installation and choose repair. (Only needed if PVSCI-pilot helps you bootdisk)
    2. choose Help and then command Promt
    3. Run diskpart
    flight type list
Locate the number of the partition-small FAT32 EFI, in my case nr 3
    Salt type flight 3

    type assign

    flight type list

Choose the letter assigned, in my case E:
    Type exit

    4 cd /d e:\efi\microsoft\boot

    5 ren BCD BCD.bak

    6 bcdboot c:\windows/l en-us/s E: /f ALL

    7 bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    Bootrec /scanos

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Don't know if all these are necessary... However, it works. Note that the scanos and rebuildbcd show 0 found BONES.

8 exit the command prompt and click on "Continue starting the server 2012" after that recharge should work properly again.

  • Cf11 install problem on WIndows server 2012 R2

We have a new installation of windows server 2012 R2 with a new installation standard CF11 installed on the C drive. Everything is 64-bit. The CF Administrator site and the connection works fine.  cfm files will not upwards in the default directory, but IIS displays htm thin files.  CF Administrator works fine.

Web server configuration tool will only show "None" in the box of the IIS Web Site.  The usual CGI, APS, etc. were installed on IIS.  IIS and CF11 have in fact been re-installed.  Manual run wsconfig.exe shows no errors.

The problem is that any call to a model cfm results an error (html pages serve very well):

Error HTTP 500.0 - internal server error

The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

    Detailed error information:

    Module IsapiModule

    Notification ExecuteRequestHandler

    Manager cfmHandler

    Error 0x8007007f

    URL requested http://localhost: 80 / default.cfm

    Physical path C:\inetpub\wwwroot\default.cfm

Can anyone give suggestions for troubleshooting?  No newspaper appears to show all information that helps.

Solved the problem... it is not a problem of one CF but and especially an IIS problem...

    (1) remove IIS... including the inetpub directory... Remove extensibility .NET Server under the Application Development Manager inetpub misuse this... inetpub should be deleted.

    (2) restart

    (3) reinstall IIS and enable all the usual stuff, that is to say, CGI, ISAPI, .NET, ASP, WebSocket Protocol, etc. in the application development

    (4) restart IIS and CF

    (5) Web Server Config set to 'all '.

    60 restart IIS and CF

The thing completely reinstall IIS and which is only done if you can delete the folder under the root of the drive-inetpub.

  • PowerEdge 2850 Windows Server 2012 do not start

Well, I have a PE 2850 that was loaded to the top with Windows Server 2012 at the beginning of the year last as part of our upgrade to Windows 7. Even though I know that Windows Server 2008 is the latest version of Microsoft to officially support the SCSI interfaces as RAID PERC 4E/DI included in the 2850 card, I was able to work around in first install 64-bit Server 2008 with the SCSI drivers and then doing an upgrade online to the 2012 server.

Everything went fine for the last year and half, but when I got to work yesterday, the server had crashed and he was sitting on the screen of the BIOS with the following error message:

Memory/battery problems were detected. The adapter has recovered, but cached data have been lost. Press a key to continue.

I pressed on enter and the server started to move to a preparation repair screen Windows where the progress bar is not long about 80% of the way and then froze for more than an hour. Subsequent attempts to restart in safe mode led to the server of freezing for several minutes before restarting once more to this same error message at the Windows logo screen. I can pull up to the management of the RAID and see my partitions still there, and I even loaded my readers in an old PE 2600 to check consistency on the logical drives (no problem found). However, the old 2600 is 32-bit architecture and it won't try to boot into the operating system.

At this point, I'm really just trying to get a full backup of my system. I don't mind getting a new server, but I don't want to keep throwing money at this old piece of 12 year of equipment without knowing if it works or not. The problem is that 2012 uses ReFS, and none of the recovery programs I found can access my logical volumes. Boot from the OS Installation disk in the recovery console doesn't work, because the OS disk does not include SCSI drivers native to be able to see the score of the OS or the data partition.

I think I'll call a few services data recovery tomorrow, but I would check here for ideas first. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Microsoft has removed native SCSI support with 2008 R2, but R2 2008 provided Dell drivers for the PERC. These drivers work for the installation of Server 2012 as well.

Memory/battery message: all stop and order the memory of replacement for the controller RAID, 4D554 part number. Nothing related to the operating system won't work (installation, repair, etc.) until you do. This question is very specific to the PERC 4e/Di on the 28 x 0.

The 2850 is not 12 years. First of all, he started 10 years ago to shipping.

  • Satellite P850 - 31 M - invalid key, the installation of Windows Server 2012

    Hello

I don't know about or write about me, that it moves if necessary.
    So here's my problem.

I just bought a laptop with the windows installation 8, but I want to install Windows Server 2012.
I boot on my dvd, everything's fine, and then I click on install and then he told me that the key was invalid.
But I do not enter a key.

When I reinstall windows 8 I give no key and it did not in the property and after he told me that windows is activated.

I don't understand the key or it will scan?
I have how little he turns to me key?

    Thanks in advance

    Sorry, but I m confused.

If you have purchased the license Windows Server 2012, then you have also a serial key.
You must use this key for activation.

    Victory 8 regarding:
I guess Win 8 was preinstalled.
In this case, you will need to create a recovery disk before you install another system?
You don't have any disk Win 8 because there was a possibility to create a recovery disk and the recovery disk contains a 8 win which is enabled.

  • Install OfficeJet Pro 8610 on Windows Server 2012

    Hello

I'm trying to install the drivers for a Pro OfficeJet 8610 on a system running Windows Server 2012. I installed the drivers from here (after choosing Windows 2012 for the operating system): http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-Pro-8610-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/53...

First of all, I tried to install using the GUI (Setup.exe) but ran into an error indicating that the operating system was not compatible.

I did some research and discovered that these drivers must be installed by using the command line and the command msiexec.exe. I tried to do it by using the following command-line (with administrator privileges): msiexec.exe /i PATHTOMSI

However, when I do that, it gives me ALWAYS an error of incompatible operating system. Don't know what to do here.

Here is a link to the Post on the HP Forum explaining the need for a command line install: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/installing-Pro-8610-Windows-server-2008rt-X64/m-p/426...

    Thank you.

I ended up soliving this problem myself while tinkering around.

I went through the process of adding a new printer through the devices window and printers.

I said my printer was not listend so opted to manually configure a printer. I have created a new local port and he just called the name of the printer. He then invited for drivers. I chose the disc and then navigated to the folder where I had extracted the printer drivers. Selected this file and the drivers installed.

This example gets the drivers installed in the system. Windows should then automatically recognize/install the printer if it is plugged.

Mind you, I had to do that only for printing on a desktop connection remote. If you need the real HP software installed to print AND scan, this will not work for this.

  • T61 - Datacenter Windows Server 2012

    Hi all

I need to install Windows Server 2012 Datacenter with Hyper-v installed on a Thinkpad laptop, because it is more durable compared to others, and I am planning buy Lenovo ThinkPad T61 with following specifications:

    Hello

Looking system requirements here on the website of Microsoft, it seems that the T61 meets the system requirements to run Windows Server 2012, but it's largely because Microsoft does not seem to differentiate between the requirements for the Foundation, Essentials, Standard, and Datacenter editions.

Personally, I would suggest to go with the bigger, more quick 2012-vintage (or most recent) laptop that I could find, for example a W520 or the W530.

    Kind regards
