Addition of RDM to the second node (W2K3) MCSC Machine virtual nodes on the physical host computers

Unable to find another thread on this

When you add RAW disks to the second node in Virtual Machines across physical hosts in the Cluster / Cluster across boxes,.

VMware said shared point of the storage drives in the same location as the first node sharing storage disc *.

-Select use an existing virtual drive...

-In the drive path, navigate to the location of the disk (quorum) specified for the first node

-Select the same virtual device node you chose for the first virtual machine shared storage disks, IE SCSI (1:0)...

    In other words to add the RDM to mscs-node2, navigate to/vmfs/volumes/lun1/mscs-node1 / mscs - node1_2.vmdk (mscs-node1_2 - rdmp.vmdk)

For years we have directly added the ROW the second node specifying RDM disk not existing does not, in general we do directly from the host, not the vCenter, it seems to work fine.

For what is the safest way, the official method can cause all sorts of problems if you need to cancel the registration of the ROW on the first node (here's where I found no official documentation).

Delete you or keep the file descriptor? We tried to keep him, but ended up with several mappings to la.vmdk/rdmp.vmdk, so now, this system has disk2_.vmdk / disk2_ - rdmp.vmdk and disk4_.vmdk / disk4_ - rdmp.vmdk pointing to the same RAW.

What really bothers me is safety, these are very important boxes, I prefer to continue to have the VMDK and rdmp.vmdk in separate data warehouses, and do not have this dependence on the head node

Your comments please, we are viewing the store only setup of MSCS clusters with lanes separated from RDM and are there risks associated with this?

    * Ref: "Setup for Microsoft Cluster Service - 4.1 and Failover Clustering".

I realize there was an error in my logic

When you work with the main node, if there is a requirement to unmap drives ROUGH (move to another cluster vmware, cloning the system etc.)

Take note of the location of all the rdmp.vmdks

Remove each rdm disk without deleting

    To add

Add "Use an existing virtual disk to disk" (yes I know its bad, but once you create the host calling now think its virtual)

Navigate to the mapping of existing raw device, appearing like a vmdk * and add using the former location of scsi

    Graphic interface hides the descriptor

    A virtual disk has a vmdk and a flat.vmdk

A CRUDE disk has a vmdk and a rdmp.vmdk (the dish is replaced by vocation)

A suggestion of one of my companions is to locate the al the ROW in a single data store small, visibility of virtual machines with raw disk went like this

    Hello.

I set up a DHCP under VMware Server 2. It is accessible by the virtual machines on the same host, but not by physical machines on the network. • features of vBundle/speed for physical host computers

I was wondering if a cartridge is available, or if someone is using vFoglight for host computers physical montior and are you able to generate reports, dashboards, etc., with the same level of detail as you can get with vFoglight with vBundle and/or speed available with their views, etc.?

You can use the OS cartridges or the new cartridge of the Infrastructure (depending on which version of vFoglight you are on) to monitor the physical host computers. I do not have readily available additional similar 1-vBundle-speed for the Physicla guests.

  • Better way to monitor the ESX host

We currently have in ESX hosts, a 3.5 and 4.0 a.  I am in the process of upgrading our support contract, allowing us to upgrade the two hosts of the latest version.  We have Server Advanced licenses, which, I think I understand VCenter.  I would like to know how to hardware such as hard drives monitoring etc. and alert us by e-mail when there is failure.  Is there than anything that is included with VMware for this?  I can install now or should I wait for vcenter.  Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

Make sure you know what you have ordered. There are advanced for the 6 processors acceleration Kit and it has Advanced vSphere by processor. The acceleration Kit includes vCenter. The other does not.

  • abstractWSDL points to the physical host name when using URL loadbalanced

Document tracking "Oracle® Fusion Middleware Enterprise Deployment Guide for Oracle SOA Suite 11 g Release 1 (11.1.1) E12036-04" to implement soa suite 11 g PS2 in two node cluster environment.

    Hostname SOA physical server (SOAHOST1 & SOAHOST2)

More SOA is configured with the virtual host name (SOAHOST1VHN1 & SOAHOST2VHN1 Port: 8001) and loadbalancer URL is http://soa.mycompany.com:7777.

Successfully completed installation and the steps of post-installation as update callbackServerURL and serverURL to http://soa.mycompany.com:7777

    Also updated HttpServerURL as http://soa.mycompany.com:7777.

Composite SOA successfully deployed to the cluster from jdeveloper soa and tested control of Fusion middleware 11g (EM) webservices. And his works fine.

When I goto page to Test Composite, the WSDL and endpoint URL appear as expected is http://soa.mycompany.com:7777 / soa-infra/services/default/ccValidation/getStatusByCC? WSDL and http://soa.mycompany.com:7777 / soa-infra/services/default/ccValidation/getStatusByCC

But when I access the WSDL in the abstractWSDL browser is having hostname of the server that is mentioned below. Cause this problem by calling this webservice of some other jdeveloper 11g bpel processes. When I enter the url http://soa.mycompany.com:7777 WSDL / soa-infra /... in Web service activity (after placing the activity in the corridor of "External References") and wire BPEL to webservice, WSDL url in webservice is changed to http://soahost1.mycompany.com:8001 / soa-infra /... and wiring is faulty.

Since soa suite managed server is configured with the virtual host name, the wsdl file is accessible only by using their virtual hostnames (SOAHOST1VHN1 & SOAHOST2VHN1) and load balancer url. Access WSDL using the physical hostname soahost1 would result in "Page not found" error. Why Jdeveloper isn't able to wire bpel with webservice component.

    Question:

Is there any configuration that I need to change for this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards
    Kumar

  • RDM to the physical host

    Hello

Is it possible to move RDM Server physical disk view we do not have snapshot ave anything... and it's physical fashion... It will detect as forien drive in destination OS?

Yes, it is possible. You should be fine here, but which OS are you using with the WDR and what is the operating system on the physical server? You can also take advantage of the SAN snapshots to protect during the failover. And this caution as always with these operations - make sure you have a good backup.

  • How to connect virtual networks to the physical host network?

I currently have 1 HP Microserver with IP 192.168.0.10 that is on my home network which takes place in ESXi5 as the operating system.

Then I have a separate network of the VM on the host with the IP addresses of 192.168.10.x. I have 2 x 2 Machines virtual ESXi Win Svr 2008 (DC & vCenter) and 1 WIn7.

How, or even not at all, can set up a link to my VM network on ranges 192.168.10.x to my host's network?

I currently have all advanced VM to my virtual domain as the default gateway on 192.168.10.1 controller.

Am I missing something really obvious? I am new to VM and network (that you can probably find).

    Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Questions please ask.

Your default gateway 192.168.10.1 there 192.168.0.x network access? You can get it... or, you can add a second nic all virtual machines, to a portgroup on the same vSwitch as the management what IP vmkernel resides.

  • Is there a correct configuration of network for the ESX host computers

Have a VC server and 2 ESX 3.5 hosts. Each host is filled with 6 cards.

    Three VLANs are created:

The VM network for traffic Server

    Vmotion: for Vmotion traffic

    Management VLan: For traffic management

The network adapters on each host have been assigned as follows:

2 network cards - the VM network

    2 NICs - Vmotion & Service Console

2 NICs - ? How can I use them for? Service console?

    What I am doing wrong?

Yes, #3 is required for vmotion vmkernel type. Then that VLAN allows them to route in the end, it is not necessary for them to communicate. and Yes, SC is the management network

  • ESXi 5.5u1 - serial number physical host in virtual machine

I was happy to see in 5.5 update 1 release notes that it should be possible to switch the serial number of the host through a virtual machine hardware.

    • Allow virtual machines to display the serial number of the physical host
Virtual machines cannot reflect the physical hosts ESXi serial numbers.
      • This issue is fixed in this version.

Does anyone know how to enable this for a new or existing virtual computer?

I had problems in the past with Apple Push Notification Services expects a Mac serial number. I hope that I can now spend series a Mac Pro to the host through a virtual machine.

Someone at - it experience or knowledge to implement this? Thank you!

Hi DJLambertand welcome to the VMware communities!

If you want a prompt of OS X to use the serial number of the host, you will need to add this option to the virtual machine configuration:

    serialNumber.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

or, if you want a prompt of OS X to use the model of host hardware ID (learn "MacPro5, 1"), ID (i.e. "Mac-12345678" ") and the serial number all all aboard:

    smbios.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

will take care of all three.  Note that there is no way to understand or control what happens if you have multiple virtual machines with the same serial number and using this external serial number as an identifier.

Let us know if you have problems with these options!  I'm not sure whether they will solve the problem you face, but... For example, there are more problems iMessage running in a virtual machine...

    See you soon,.

  • How to get the host name of the physical computer inside a virtual machine until the user logs in Windows?

I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, I develop software to support VMWare PCoIP and need to know how to get the host name of the physical machine (which manages the virtual machine and View Client) within a virtual machine before the user logs in Windows of the virtual machine.

I understand there are two ways to read the host name, via the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Volatile Environment registry and environment variables, but they are available once the user is connected. I need info before the user connects.

Is there a VMware API that can be called or asked the host name?

    Thank you.

Not on the broker, but there are the startup scripts to log on to the computer virtual itself: http://pubs.vmware.com/view-52/topic/com.vmware.view.integration.doc/view_integration_startsession_script.9.2.html

Note that these executed when a virtual desktop computer allocated connection, not to the point that the client connects - it is possible for the customer to not complete the connection (crash, cancel, network failure) and so any what solution you design must handle this.

  • Lack of communication between the host computers

    Hello

We have a small installation demo (2 x ESXi5.1 build 799733 hosts) of vCloud Director 5.1.1868405 running build and meet a strange communication with the VMS problem when they sit on different hosts.

That we have tested with several organizations and different types of OS etc and the behavior is the same, an example would be that if one of the VMS is a Web server of the site can be displayed if from VMs on the same host, however when you separate guests cannot view the Web site. Virtual machines can ping each other wherever they are.

I hope someone here can help point me in the right direction to solve this

    Thank you

    Marc

Looks like your pool of network is down.  If you are using a paralytic, routed Org or Org... isolated network looks that transport between the two does not work.

If virtual machines are on one of these network types and on the same host, it works.  If they are on different hosts, it fails.

Is what kind of network pool?  VCNI, VXLAN etc.?

Make sure that the physical network is actually configured to transport data.  for example, VCNI uses a VLAN and MTU to 1524 (suggested min) for transportation between the hosts.  However, you need to configure it on the fabric of network (switch, etc.).

VXLAN has its own requirements, but it has a way to test the virtual wire.

Transport is not executed on primary, because you log_archive dest parameter is not correct.
    Your problem here:

    log_archive_dest_2 string SERVICE=PRIMARY NOAFFIRM ASYNC VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=STANDBY

    You must change it to:

    alter system set log_archive_dest_2 ='SERVICE=STANDBY NOAFFIRM ASYNC VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=STANDBY';
    alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2=ENABLE;
