Movie Maker Collections is overwritten

I used Windows Movie Maker with VISTA Home Premium, when suddenly I got a message that (imported media) Collections file was corrupted and has been replaced by a new one.

If I understand that the underlying music and image files are not affected and the movies that I created and I consider as only a working tool Collections, would it be possible to restore the Collections? I made a back-up only a few hours before, but a restoration of the system at that time there did not help

  • You try to transfer files to movie maker collection file to another computer

    I'm in the middle of a Movie Maker project and enjoy this project with me on my laptop. I know that I can save the project and transfer this file as well as all my media on my laptop easily, but I would lose all my files collection. I have more than 10 records with not less than 10 files each, nearly 10 hours of work. Is it possible to transfer the collection folder information?

    I don't think that there is a way to do it. You might try to transfer all and change the file directories in your project.

    Anyway,.
    If you want to try something. I would advise to make sure you have a backup of your project.

    Second question - I have only the ability to record on a cd on my computer at home.  I have saved movies on a CD and downloaded on my work computer that has Roxio and a DVD burner.  It seems that I have correctly recorded on my work computer to a DVD-R disc, and it appears that when he plays on my computer from the disk, however, when I try to play on a DVD player it displays an error and will not play.  Roxio gives me the opportunity to record in different formats for compatibility (old DVD to Blueray players) and I tried both without success.  Any ideas.

    I work in Windows Movie Maker.  I imported the pic of a flash drive files.  When I return to my project overnight the pictures do not exist.   They don't last load because the 'not found' files, mysteriously images loaded back up everything.  I have no idea of what I did, but they found themselves back much to my relief however, today, I'm not so lucky.    Tonight, it's the same thing, but the only way I can get the pictures if I find the missing photo 1 by 1 by right click and search for my flash drive.  I have my flash drive in my computer when I started working on my project again. • How to save a project created in Windows movie maker on a flash drive in. MSWWW format instead of. WMV format?

    If I understand well a previous answer, reinporting a project as mswmm allows rediting if the files are still on the computer.  Also, I am inclined to believe that the files remain available in the pane movie maker collections.  Am I wrong?

    > How to save a project created in Windows movie maker
    > to a flash drive in. MSWWW format instead of. WMV format?
    ===========================================
    When you save the project file... go to... File / save project as...
    Give the file a name (Summer Vacation.mswmm) and choose
    your save location.

    All the files (Photos, video clips, Audio clips) source should
    appear on the USB key and if you have the intention of re - edit the
    project on another computer... it should have the same
    version of Movie Maker. Sometimes a later version of the film

    ===========================================
    > If I understand an earlier answer, reinporting a project
    > mswmm format allows rediting if the files are still on the

    ===========================================
    This is correct. MSWMM is a Movie Maker project file which is
    is useful for a re-release in Movie Maker. And... the source files
    (Photos, video clips, Audio clips) should be available in the
    original locations...
    ===========================================
    > Also, I am inclined to believe that the files remain available in the
    > movie maker collections pane.  Am I wrong?
    ===========================================
    When a. MSWMM file project opens the thumbnails...
    remain available in the Collections of Movie Maker component as
    as long as the Source, the files are available in the places that they
    were imported initially from.

    If the source files have been moved, renamed, deleted or are
    unavailable, the thumbnails in the component Collections
    Movie Maker displays red Xs and the project cannot be

    If the source files are still available... it is possible that you may
    Right-click the red Xs and navigate to the current location of the

  • Corruption DOCFILE in Movie Maker 6

    Hello

    Really sorry if this has been asked before...

    I'm under Movie Maker 6 on Vista and importing video from my DV video cam. The video of fine imports (in .avi format) and I can start to create a project based on the pictures I imported. However when I try and save the project, I get an error message that says "the doc file is corrupt". Also, I can't save any new collection that contains the video imported from the video camera.  When I re - open Movie Maker collection and I have imported the video disappears. Oddly, if idrag in video clips imported into the timeline of a project, the video is retained but imported into the folder collections (as well as the collections file) is not be saved. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Movie Maker project does not!

    I just went back to edit a film I worked on and nothing, I can see the photos, the music, all, but it does not play.  Please, please help!

    Hello ska2tra,

    ·        Have you an error when you try to reopen the saved project (game)?

    ·        You save the project after adding media files?

    ·        What is the type of file you are trying to open the project?

    ·        You did changes to the files that you have added as moving them to another location or deleted files?

    ·        Have you created the film on the same computer or with any previous version of Windows?

    Your best bet to check this would be to create a different test project and check if you have the same problem. This will help you determine if the problem is related to Movie Maker or the project you created is corrupt.

    Also, make sure that you add (import) files that are compatible with Windows Movie Maker.
    You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:

    Video files: .asf, .avi, dvr - ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
    Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
    File Picture: .bmp, DIBs, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff and .wmf

    =========================================
    I was wondering what version of Windows are you using? XP, Vista, 7

    Sorry... but with the .mov files, the conversion is the only solution.

    Here is a way to convert online so that you won't have to
    Download and install a software:

    Try the following free online Converter:

    Media-Convert
    http://media-convert.com/

    Apple Quicktime conversion instructions

    (1) in the field "File"... click on "Browse".
    button and navigate to the .mov file you
    you want to convert. When you select the
    file... the path will appear in the field "File".

    (2) the "Input format" field should automatically
    show... Let it 'Apple Quicktime (.mov)'
    as it is...

    (3) "output size" has two windows...
    does not display the field on the left, "no video".
    PRESET"... leave it as what...

    (4) in the next to move to the right window
    You can choose the format you want
    convert... try:

    Windows Media Video (.wmv)

    (5) on the left, click on the blue * OK button.
    (sometimes the site is busy... If the conversion fails... try again)

    Now... wait as the file to be converted.
    (be patient)

    Once the conversion is completed, you will see:

    File converted successfully!

    Your file will appear right of a little green
    ... left click on the file name... save it as
    ... appears on the left, click on the "Save" button.
    Choose a folder to save in (I always download)
    on my desk)... on the left, click on the "Save" button.

    When the file is downloaded, you should be able
    to play with Windows Media Player and it should
    be compatible with Movie maker.

    That's all! Good luck.
