  • How can I keep XP pro to create a 'My music' folder by default in C; \MyDocuments after I moved the folder on a 2nd HARD drive?

I installed a 2nd HDD in my PC and moved the folder my music on the new drive. Now, XP Pro creates a my music folder on default in C:\MyDocuments once again on the C:\ drive and stores music files here by default. I don't want a folder my music on the C:\ drive, that's why I installed a 2nd HDD to keep my separate music. Is it possible to 'say' XP Pro does not create the default folder?

    Hello Toddy - USA,

Unfortunately, this is normal and default Windows creates a Documents folder even if you delete it. However, if you have saved the music to another folder, you can set Media Player to use a default folder to access music files.

    a. Open Media Player, press the Alt key to bring up the file menu.

    b. click on file, manage libraries, and music.

Here you can add and remove sites and also to select the default location.

  • Unable to get the preview of images that are cut and pasted from desktop folder to external hard drive.

    Hi Gregory Trinidade,

You can try to create a folder in the C: drive and copy the images on the desktop folder C: drive.  After copy in C: drive then try again copy on external hard drive and see if it works well or not.

Make sure that you have access to the C: drive. Also instead of cut photos copy in another location.

    Hope this information is useful.

    ======================================
The dialog box asking if you want to "replace the existing image.
occurs when the target folder contains a file with the same
    name that you are moving.

Unfortunately... when a file is overwritten (replaced) with another
file of the same name... the original is unrecoverable.

There is a slight possibility... If the photos had been altered in
Windows Live Photo Gallery... the unreleased original versions which
could be cancelled in may still be in the following folder:

    C:\Users\\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows Gallery\Original photos.

    Good luck...

  • move cd images in a folder on my hard drive

all I'm trying to do is to download a cd image in a folder on my hard drive, the only thing I can do is select each photo and move it that way of course takes a lot of time.  On my old xp it would download to a folder as soon as I put the disc in.

You can add a copy to folder and move to folder in the right click context menu so all you have to do is click on the file or the files or folders you want to copy or move (hold down the CTRL key if you want to seledt several elements) then right click and click on the correct option and everything will be copy or move as you requested.  Here is the procedure to add to the context menu.  You can add multiple folders, if you want if you have multiple files, you must copy or move things to: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/89196-context-menu-add-copy-folder-move-folder.html.

Under Vista, cannot set it up to autoaticallly copy of the disk in a folder when you insert the disc.  This option is not available.  But the above should make things much simpler for you and is a very good workaround.  As you can see on this http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-change-autoplay-default-setting-or-option-in-windows-vista.html you can change the options by default, when you insert a CD or a DVD, but the option to move the contents of a particular folder is not one of the available options.

I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but I hope the option I've provided helps you perform tasks a little faster.

    Good luck!

  • Copy of images from sources (not moving) on a second external hard drive - Lightroom doesn't not grateful

I have my images from source on an external drive, but when I copied (not moved) these source images to a second hard drive for backup (via the Finder), Lightroom would not indicate the player or images. How can I get Lightroom to recognize this drive / these images?

    Hi andrewp46044898,

    Greetings.

You first have to import at least one file of this external drive, so that the reader appears in the records of Lightroom.

Also, make sure that you have read and write on this external drive access.

Moved the folder "Pictures" of Mac and catalog image files shows no images. Cannot navigate to the appropriate folder in 'Files' Panel and cannot rename the folder "Images". How can I reconnect catalog image files?

    You opened an empty catalog.

You can try the following two steps to open the appropriate catalog file.

    1. Use the file-> open recent, open the list of all catalogs
    2. If this does not work, you will need to find the appropriate help for your operating system catalog file and double-click it to open it.

  • Major Move of my images from C to D drive

I need to spend all my images or at least the content (20 GB) a and C drive to a new partition on the same physical disk, drive D.

Rather than moving a folder at a time, is it possible to move the entire master file?  With LR3 or Explorer solutions and resynchronization (or I guess reimportation) in LR3?

My C drive is simply too full and needs something moved to D and the images are the things that are growing by leaps and bounds.

    Perry

Don't do not re import under any pretext.

If all the records are under one main folder, as is always the sensible way of structuring, so it's easy. Just move (no copy, if you copy the files remain in the original location and LR will continue to refer to them there)) the entire folder to the new drive, then in LR do a right-click on the master folder, select move the folder, pointing to the new location and the job is done.

Major movements will be much faster using the operating system rather than in LR. You can do that in LR, by dragging the folder, but it is likely to take much longer.

  • My images folder has changed to a double D:? Help, please! -windows - 7

Hey there. I have a new computer (asus x53u) laptop and am running windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit version. Service Pack1. Anyway, fairly new to windows 7 and new on a partitioned hard drive! Currently, all my documents/videos etc. were stored on the C: drive, the same as my operating system. I was changing the location of my pictures on the D: drive. I did it by going to start, by clicking on my name, right click on photo and clicking Properties. I then went to the place. (this method has worked for others, such as video) I then clicked on 'move', then 'computer', then 'storage D: D: – once opened, when I would normally choose the duplicate folder, I created, in this case 'images'. However I clicked the button 'Select folder', without actually selecting a folder first. : 0 (so what was the 'images' folder has now transformed into "Storage D:" - when I click Properties, it turns out that my hard drive!) It says "type: local drive, file system: NTFS"- and of course shows the pie scale. I tried to revert to the situation and move them to the folder images duplicate, I created for her. When I click on apply he asks me if I want to move all the files to the new location. I click Yes and then get an error message reading: cannot redirect parent down. The specified path is not valid. I also tried clicking 'restore the default' on the location tab, click on apply, when asked if I want to move the files to the new location I select Yes, then get an error message that says: failure of the list of regular subfolders under "D:\MSOCache" Acess is denied. (I am the administrator on this computer)... Thank you very much for your help and your expertise, I looked everywhere trying to find a solution! Best regards, Brendan

LR 5.7 cannot find my files already edited because I accidentally deleted them. I have original and exported raw files edited JPEG images on an external hard drive. How to get back on LR the possibility to repeat already published photos complete with a history of editing? Thank you.

Thank you Joe Maniac.  I deleted the original linked files on my internal hard drive which were dng files, but had copies of the raw files edited and edited the exported raw files (in JPEG format).  I don't have copies of dng files.  So what I ended up having to do was import the original raw files which then made a DNG copy on my internal hard drive.  The link has not changed, but now the files were back in the original track for missing photo alerts disappeared and I was able to see my change history.  The process has been painful, but without the dng, I had nothing to do a link to more if at least re-import them files has recreated the dng.  I don't know if there was an easier way, but it seemed that the problem did not the link deletion.  I use LR for a few years, but it was a rookie mistake, precipitated by my hard drive being so jammed up I ended up delete what I shouldn't.  I should have just moved the dng and the link to an external hard drive. Thanks again.

  • Printing from Adobe After moving from program on external hard drive

I have Acrobat Pro Xi running on a Mac (latest OS). I need to move some files from my Macbook Air to give more space on the HARD drive. I moved the folder Adobe, Adobe Application Manager, Adobe Download Assistant and Adobe Acrobat Pro Xi program on an external drive. However, since doing so, I can't print from the program. For more information, I also moved MS Office through and other programs, but not printing problems.

There was one that I had to bring anywhere with Adobe, or do I need to reinstall the program again?

    Thank you, Kaye

On Windows, or MacOS you can never just move Adobe applications from one hard disk to another and hope they work.

You must first completely uninstall the software and then reinstall it on the target disk. There are also some system files that Adobe relies on your stay on the system drive and will be installed there regardless of the hard drive, the main part of the application is installed.

At this point, try to use the uninstall program. It may or may not succeed in removing the application. Then, manually delete the directories that you moved the original. Then, reinstall the software, focusing on the drive to which you want to install, assuming that Setup allows such an option. If the choice of the installation disc is not provided, you may need to consider other options for obtaining sufficient disk space.
