• Impossible to select text to copy

  I had trouble pointing out words or paragraphs in order to manipulate them.  I have to click on the controls several times before my computer will respond and sometimes he answers incorrectly.

  a. what happens when you use the keyboard to select the menu or text?

  b. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

  c. What is the make / model of the computer?

  Make a right click anywhere on the page and choose the 'selection' tool, then you can drag it over the text and then right-click in the selection and choose 'Copy' and then switch application to MS word and paste there.

  If you are unable to select and copy text, either it's a scanned pdf document or it has implemented security restrictions.

  I have a custom firefox extension that captures data on the Clipboard, as well as a selected text in the document in firefox. It is, whenever I select the text, it replaces the data in the Clipboard with the data of selected text. The Clipboard is always mirroring my text selection. I need to turn it off. Alternatively, make sure that the selected text gets sent to primary Clipboard, while firefox extension accesses Clipboard. (I guess that nsIClipboard retrieves data from the Clipboard vs primary school-press-papers).

  I am convinced that selected text is poured in the Clipboard and not the primary Clipboard. Selected text always overrides everything I copied using Ctrl + C command. Central to the mouse click or Ctrl + V out same thing.

  I have changed the default setting in about:config to clipboard.autocopy value= false. I have restarted my system and selected text still saves to clipboard.  This issue does show up on this thread here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=854565. But it is checked as solved. Apologies if this question should have been posted there. I am using Linux Mint 17, Firefox 32.0.3

  I solved the problem. Firstly, I've updated all my software, which had no effect. Then I realized that another extension can add this feature. And voila! I'm sure that search the fastest was the culprit. I disabled the addon, even though this feature can probably be disabled.

  I hope this helps future users who face this same problem.

  I didn't know the difference between these two methods - my google search for 'extension' led me directly to the old tutorial mentioned...

  And, Yes, I had to search long enough to find the 'object' extension on the fly on the menu...

  Now, I adapted the code referred to in the dreamweaver_cs5_extending.pdf for the creation of such an extension of command - and, wow, it works... with 'copy' the text selected in the extension form.

  So, thanks again! Now I'm on the right track

• Move the selected text

  I just upgraded to your ID CS4 5.5.  I have a sentence - not a full text box - that I want to move to another location on the page.  In CS4, I just highlighted the word or phrase and dragged to a new location, but it does not work in CS5.5.  Just selected text 'deselects' when I try to move it.

  Should I change in the preferences?  My only alternative is to cut-and - paste, which is a nuisance.

  I'm experimenting Photoshop Elements and wanting to use a layer of black and white (gray scale) I did as a mask of a another layer and do not know how to do in elements.  In Photoshop, I could do it (there may be a better way to do it in PS, but I've not yet discovered)...

  Copy

  Select the layer that I want the mask to be applied to the

  Click on the button Add a mask layer (bottom layer)

  After you have added your layer mask, Alt (Option) click on the thumbnail of the mask layer in the layers panel, and then edit > paste.

  Last week, something happened to my computer.  The mouse cursor has changed making it impossible to select/highlight text more.  The arrow has changed in the hand.  I was in Control Panel and tried to change this back like that, but nothing works.  I am unable to point to anything and make it happen.  For example, that I was unable to click in this area to type because it was a helping hand.  I had the right click on the mouse and press ESC to get the cursor here.  I have no idea of what has past and it's really annoying.  I'm on the computer all day for United and be able to highlight text to copy and paste.  This made it impossible to do so.  I really hope someone can help me.
