  It is therefore important to contain the number of MODELS to a minimum.

  I have a pool of clone related with an image master.  drive c: must be increased because of all of the updates on the master VM.  But when I turned off the master VM, it is grayed out and cannot be changed.  I have a number of clichés associated with the master image as well.  I read that I have to remove or delete all the snapshots before I can increase the size, but then does that mean that I lose all my changes since the first base image?

  Removal of the snapshots in snapshot Manager means in fact that you're merging deltas in the snapshots in the basic disk, i.e. preserve the current state. Assuming that it is a floating pool and only the latest snapshot is used for clones, it should work to remove snapshots, resize the disk/partition and recompose the pools of a newly created snapshot when you completed the master update.

• Clones related with thinapp application not installed

  I have a pool configuration of clone bound to an entire division and I have several thinapps, but in this pool we will say that I have two computer scientists who need Windows 7 RSAT tools installed, which I did not have much luck thinapp'ing. This isn't "the importance app, the problem is that when you want to update your master windows and sauté a recomposition, all thinapps of course, but everything you have installed manually disappeared."

  I'm trying to use the clones related for obvious reasons of storage, but I'm starting to think unless you can thinapp related applications that will be installed on these machines there is no way that you can use clones... am I missing something here? Of course, I don't want to reinstall RSAT after every recompose. Or even worse if there is another application that has been installed on 50 machines, circulating to everyone after a recompose to reinstall would be very laborious.

  I would like to make this user a pool specialist.

  We are about to have our annual 'meet' with Microsoft true licenses. The question that arises is to know if the licenses are counted for VMS that are models, clones, or simply not under tension. I think that M$ will say that all servers must be licensed reqardless if power is applied or if they are models. That's a good point being triggered if these models or clones are very little why we would have to pay for a full license used. Of course if we had data center per server licenses (process) that I keep not, however, we company licening since we have not enough VM server to justify datacenter license. Someone at - it been down this road before?

• Lose a provisioning when moving from model space to the workspace configuration

  Hi all -

  I use LM 4.0.1 with ESX 4.0.  We have a huge amoutn of machines in our test environment, so we aret area using thin provisioned disks if ever possible, my question is this:

  When I create the model of the virtual machine, it create hard drive configured as thin.  I am able to update the machine, install the VMware tool and publish it.  When I create a new configuration and add this model, it seems to blow the drive at full capacity.  I tried the two linked clone and full options available by machine when you create a configuration, but he always blows my virtual disk of 60 GB at full size on the image into the workspace.

  Am I missing a step very important, or is - not pssoible images thin provisioned used in the way I talk.  We cannot support our image storage needs be supplied thickness, so I'm really looking for a solution to this problem.  Thank you.

  There are full clone and restrictions for the use of thin disks, see the release notes for known issues http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager401.html#thindiskissues ... so a full clone will convert indeed a "thin" disc in a disc 'thick' to the clone target.

  Linked clones have discs delta below. As written record increase, increase the changes between the basic disk and the linked clone and these changes are what go in delta drive more. LM can show the linked as 'thicker', disk clone since the delta disc is no longer considered 'thin '. However, they start small, about 16MB. If you say that you get a full 60 GB disk when you bind the clone, something is wrong since LM should never do that. Really check if shows the linked clone disk size 60 GB on the data store?

  Clone is a copy of a VM (also running) with or without customization.

  The model is a virtual machine that you cannot turn on (unless you convert to a virtual machine). A deployment of the model is just a "clone" of the conversion to a virtual machine and a model.

  Are quite similar, the big difference is that this model cannot be turned on.

  And can be stored in compact format (but now also VM can be in the form of thin).

  I have templates create in a data store, call datastor0 on a San in LUN0. I'm deployment of virtual machines in datastore1 in LUN1. The problem:

  • After the deployment of a virtual machine at datastore1, the summary of VM page datastore0 and datastore1 in the 'resources' tab.
  • If I go to view the data warehouse, the virtual computers tab, I can see that the VM listed in datastore0 and datastore1.
  • If I browse the data warehouses, the computer virtual folder is located in datastore1.
  • I'm not change hardware or anything else during or after deployment.

  I'm guessing there is a file in the model with information about the deployed virtual computer that it throws out. I don't see the problem when the dpeloying to datastore0, but the problem could still be there, with the virtual machine is somehow related to the model.

  I know that I have een that high in the past in other threads, but I think as those relating to make changes during the deployment. I'm not familiar with the editing of the VM reviewing files, it's been long that I had, so any ideas on the problem, what are the files that I should look through diagnosis and how I finished with this in the first place?

  You happen to have the CD-ROM pointed an ISO on datastore0? Can you post the contents of the. VMX file for the virtual machine you just deployed?

  The clones are related to the replica, so if you remove the replica, they will no longer work.   Is there a way you can reduce the number of clones or possibly balance on another data store?

  Yes you can have the diagram in the logic model. Check there titled "Subview as" at the top right of dialogue engineering - select it and subview will be created in the logic model corresponding to the main schema to your relational model.
