  Your mp3 player is part of the Sansa m200 series. If you go to the Sansa website, click on other players/Legacy you won't always find the exact reference. There are updates firmware for the m200 series and an owner's manual.

  There is nothing in the manual to require specific drivers. In fact if you Google sansa m230 drivers, you can find the OS only needs drivers is W98 / me. For XP its plug-and-play.

  I repeat, plug in the appliance. Go into Windows Explorer and you should find that she recognized as a form of HD. Don't bother with the CD.

  BTW (by the way) what version of XP are you using? If you are in sp3? (Right click on desktop > properties > check your XP version).

  Sorry for all the questions here - but I am totally new to music on the computer.  I stopped to evolve at the CD - so I'll try to catch up here wise technology.

  I'm looking to move the CD to MP3 player.   What is the best way to get the soundtracks of the CD in the player.  Do I have to go straight from the CD to the player via Media Player - or is there another step (get an audio file on the hard drive first?) I should be trying to do.

  None do not go directly from the CD to the drive. It does not work normally. Windows Media Player allows you to rip the files in MP3 format. In WMP 11, select the Rip tab, and then click the small arrow below, down to more options and when the window opens in the upper part, click on edit and browse around to find a place to save your files, under the rip settings section, choose MP3 format and then the desired quality. The possibilities range from 128 Kbps (smaller size) 320 Kbps (maximum size). The large size gives you the best sound, but you will not be able to adjust the number of files on your rocket, the smaller size allows most of the files but provides the worst sound quality. (There are other formats that suggest people but since you are a beginner with the Stick with MP3 digital music). Then click on apply and OK. Put the CD in, then click on start to tear.

  BTW, before rip you songs, make sure you have an internet connection for WMP can get information about the track.
