.msu files try to open in Frontpage

I try to install winhelp32 on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit sp1 operating system. The download is a .msu file. When I try to run the file, Frontpage opens with an error message that the correct viewer is not installed. Someone told me to reinstall Windows Installer files, but the download is also a .msu file.
When I view the file of each .msu file properties, it shows component opened with Office XP. I tried to change the default action, but I don't know what to do or where the default should be.

I solved the problem myself. I had to change the file association for the Standalone Installer Windows Update (wsus.exe).

  • InDesign CC files try to open in CS6

The title explains it well enough. I have two versions installed on my computer (Windows 8.1) to ensure compatibility. When I try to open my Indesign CC files, it attempts to use CS6 (and fails of course). I tried "open with...". "and selecting Indesign CC, but it always opens in CS6. How can I get this right? Ideally I would CC files to open in CC and CS6 in CS6.

    Thanks in advance.

We had all love if Windows would use the correct version of the ID to open the files, but without help, it's just going to use the latest version installed to open all the files.

  • Adobe Acrobat has taken possession of my computer. All files try to open in Adobe.

adobe acrobat somehow took on my computer... it is few pictures is all over my desk and it tries to open all.  How can I stop?  I tried to recover but it did not work :(

original title: adobe acrobat opens all programs

Have you tried using 'open with' on a shortcut? You can open the executable programs?

It sounds really like you accidentally attached .lnk extensions to adobe acrobat. This creates users default choice on all your shortcut to adobe acrobat links.

Since the default action is caused by the user (as it was accidental) choice, you can be able to restore everything simply by creating a new user account. See if the icons to return to their natural state, then knit. If so, just move all your files and folders and delete the old account. If you use Outlook, you also need to reset where it looks for files of Outlook, but it can be automatic (do not try to start Outlook until what everything is copied on the property). If you use this method, remember to copy the hidden appdata folder. Just show all before you begin the copy.

The other method which requires a regedit is also quite simple, but recommend that you set a manual restore point before you start. A regedit always has the potential to mess up your system. the procedures are:

    1. Click on the Start Menu, type regedit in start search and press ENTER.
    2. Navigate to the following registry branch:

    NtVersion ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ [ext]

Replace the [ext] with the real extension of the file you want to restore the file type association to return to the original Windows 7 by default (probably .lnk). If you unsure, simply browse through all the Sub-touche under FileExts.

    3. delete the subkey named UserChoice.

    4. exit the registry editor.

    Theoretically, each method of work.

You have configured Firefox to use the Adobe Acrobat plugin? It seems that he may be missing or disabled, because it does not appear in your "more details of the system" (next to your message). You can see the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Then on the right, look for Adobe Acrobat. It may be down on a gray background.

If you don't have it: Make sure that this isn't your favorite here player:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > Applications

You can type or paste pdf in the search box at the top of the list after loading to filter.

  • When I try to open a file of Contact or other web sites, it only allows me to save it not open it.

I used to be able to just open the files. I thought it was a problem of constant contact, but it works fine in Safari.

    Hi oakcliff,.
Thank you for your question. It might be a preference application registered for the file type or may be a preference for the site which has been stored.

I recommend to reset Firefox to restore the default values for this preference and then try to open the attachment once more. There will be an option to remember the preference if I remember correctly.

Please post back with your results, it can help other users.

If you go to Finder > Preferences > sidebar , you will see there is no option for Safari > bookmarks, but you can send a link from Safari.

In your Safari menu bar, click file > share > Email.

For Chrome, you may need to use a Goole Chrome for sharing.

  • reading of the worksheet try to open two files

I want to open multiple files and combine them. I tried to make a loop with a variable number of iterations depending on how many files, I intend on the combination. In the loop for example, I placed a reading of spreadsheet. When I run the vi with highest point running on, it works perfectly - exactly how I intended. When I run without, his version of spreadsheet always try to open a file more than the number I said and then crashes. I can't understand what is happening because it works fine when I am debugging.

    Thanks for your help!

Sorry if it's a little messy - as imstuck said this vi is something that I slapped together quickly to manipulate data. I did the loop go once with a constant try to eliminate the sources of error.

I fixed it just now. I had the file I tried to load open in excel and closing excel solved the problem. I don't know if this is a common problem with labview (it happens at all when I have the files to open with Notepad).  In case someone else has this problem, close the excel document fixed it completely.
