Multicast with AP1141N

Recently, I had 4 1141N access points installed in my house. Everything works fine except that I have a Windows application for Lutron lighting control that uses multicast to find the main Lutron control on the network device. If my PC is on a wired connection, everything works fine. The software can 'discover' the Lutron controller on the network without problem. However, when I try to exactly the same thing on the same PC but using Wi - Fi, it does not work.

I wonder if there might be a setting on the WAP that must be set to enable multicasting. The guys who installed the network were late, so I suspect they just accept the defaults for everything they could, and perhaps multicasting is not enabled by default.

Any ideas on what I need to do to change the WAP config to enable multicast?

Karl

Run the command 'no ip igmp snooping' or ' no ip igmp snooping vlan "on the CLI AP to get multicast switch and let me know how it works for you.

    Hi Jeff,

What did you mean by "WPA secutiy open authentication? For speed N, you must configure the layer 2 as open authentication or WPA2/AES security. Check this doc to optimize the performance of N:

  • VSAN interrogator multicast with igmp snooping active requirement

When the switch is "igmp snooping" enabled, I do not understand why VSAN Articles and book require a mrouter or interrogator to define.

I think that you need just to AIR 2 SDK.  that should give you access to all the new APIs.

  • UCS and L2 multicast issues

    Hello

I have 2 data centers connected through a tissue of spine / sheet using BGP EVPN. In a domain controller, I UCS and other legacy Dell ESX servers connected to catalyst switches. These are shared resources via a VPC local 9 k leafs to interconnect with the fabric. Some of VLANS have L2 multicast running. All the VLANS relevant are bridged through the fabric and presented to UCS/ESXi. When virtual machines have been vmotioned overall everything has worked well except the multicast broke. I created a policy of multicast in UCS and activated the interrogator with an IP address in one of VLAN relevant from the cisco documentation what UCS will not pass traffic unless there is a mrouter/interrogator. Then, I joined politics to the Vlan relevant under the section of LAN. However still does not. I don't see any questioning on the directly connected switches information upstream is. Should applicant IGMP allowed on switches?

    Thank you!

  • Clustering with Unicast

We now use Multicast with Weblogic 9.2 for clustering but now migrate to Weblogic 10.3 and want to switch to unicast. The documentation seems kind of blurry for clustering of unicast. I have a few questions.

    (1) the Unicast broadcast channel. What is it and what is the format of one.
    (2) I need create a channel custom somewhere? I don't want to use the default channel, because we have many areas in the same server.
    (3) generally made Unicast work and how is it different from multicast.

    Thank you
    Tom.

I hope it's that some useful:

    (1) this is the channel used for unicast traphic, if you leave it blank the channel by default (listening address) of managed servers are used

    (2) you can add strings under the Protocol-> channels-managed server
A channel is connected to a host name and port, so it must be unique. I don't see how it would effect several areas on 1 machine since they must use unique host + port so combinations for each managed server.

  • Hi ALL, did any attempt on the virtual computer NETWORK load balancing using HYPERV on UCS blades

I try to configure the CASE server cluster by using the Unicast NLB on the virtual machine on different blades on the UCS, it works for awhile, then he abandoned packages.

I heard that this screenplay of unicast is not supported in the UCS when she used END-host mode in the fabric interconnet...? any attempted before.

Would it, I use the multicast mode is that something needs to be done on the FBI62020 or the LAN switch upstream. ??

Header note I found on the implementation of UCS for mulitcast NLBL:

Microsoft NLB can be deployed in 3 modes:

    Unicast

    Multicast

    IGMP multicast

For series B UCS deployments, we have seen that the multicast and IGMP multicast work.

IGMP multicast mode seems to be the more reliable deployment mode.

To do this, the monitoring settings:

All NLB Microsoft value "Multicast IGMP" nodes.  Important!  Check ths by logging into EACH node independently.  Do not rely on the MMC of NLB snap.

An IGMP applicant must be present on the VLAN of NLB.  If PIM is enabled on the VIRTUAL LAN that is your interrogator.  UCS cannot function as applicant IGMP.  If an interrogator of functioning is not present, NLB IGMP mode will not work.

You must have a static ARP entry on cheating it upstream pointing IP address Unicast NLB on the multicast MAC address NETWORK load balancing.  This need will set up, of course, on the VLAN of the NLB VIP. The key is that the routing for the NLB VLAN interface must use this ARP entry as a unicast IP ARP response may not contain a multicast mac address. (Violation of the RFC 1812)  Hosts on the NLB VLAN must also use the static entry.  You may have several entries ARP.  IOS can use a function of 'alias' of ARP. (Google it.)

How Microsoft NLB works. -The truncated for brevity Mac addresses.

    TOPOLOGY OF NLB MS

NETWORK VLAN 10 = subnet 10.1.1.0/24 IP load balancing

VIP = 10.1.1.10 NETWORK LOAD BALANCING

Arp entry static switch advanced IP 10.1.1.10 upstream to MAC 01

NLB VIP (MAC 01, IP 10.1.1.10)

    NODE-A (AA, MAC IP:10.1.1.88)

    NŒUD-B (MAC BB, IP:10.1.1.99)

Using the IGMP snooping and interrogator VLAN snooping table is filled with the mac NLB address and groups pointing to the appropriate L2 ports.

MS NLB nodes will send the responses of IGMP queries.

This snooping table could take 30 to 60 seconds to complete.

Host on VLAN 200 (10.200.1.35) sends traffic to NETWORK VIP (10.1.1.10) load balancing

It goes of course to VLAN 10 interface that uses the static ARP entry to resolve to address MAC 01 VIP NETWORK load balancing.

Since it is a multicast frame destination it will be forward by the IGMP snooping table.

The framework will arrive at ALL NLB nodes. (NŒUD-A & NŒUD-B)

NLB nodes will use its load balancing algorithm to determine which node will manage the TCP session.

Only one NLB node will respond to this host with TCP ACK to start the session.

    NOTES

This works in a VMware with N1k, standard vSwtich and vDS environment. Where surveillance IGMP is not enabled, the framing for VIP MAC NETWORK load balancing will be flooded.

NLB can only work with TCP-based services.

As stated previously mapping an IP unicast to a multicast mac address is a violation implied by RFC 1812.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

Make sure your interrogator is working. Just to clarify that this does not mean that it is actually at work.

Wireshark lets check that IGMP queries are received by the NLB nodes.

Make sure that the ARP response works as expected.  Once Wireshark again is your friend.

Look at the paintings IGMP snooping. Validate the L2 ports appearing as expected.

-There is no impact on the configuration, you have done service profiles.  they will continue to work as expected.  Mode selector has the FI behave more like a conventional switch.  Most notable is that Spanning tree will be activated and if you have several uplinks yew, tree covering weight will begin to block redundant paths.

You need to review your topology and what impact tree covering weight.  Generally, we at the switch port upstream defined as "edge master", you want to delete this line.

  • For the Stratus file replication latency

    Hi all

I have create a component of contorlling and desktop sharing to online meeting request. I have test Adobe Stratus multicast and realized that there is a high 5-8 secons latency. If I would use the replication of the object or the Direct routing - would there be the same latency as multicast?

Best regards and thanks for your time,.

    Marc

object replication latency will be probably even higher than that.  In addition, the replication of the object sync settings cannot be tuned to ActionScript, but those multicast can.

5-8 seconds is the latency expected for multicast with the settings default for the length of the window, period of extraction, etc.  These parameters can be adjusted to ActionScript, but right now we don't have any indication on how to do it.

  • IMAQdx timeout with camera JAI multicast

We have a JAI camera connected to a GigE card, displaying the image in a LabVIEW program, and it has worked reliably for months.  We would now like to save the image for short periods of time as well.  We have added a second computer on the GigE network to capture and save the image with a dedicated software stream.  We put the camera JAI multicast so that both computers receive the same image.  Now, we're getting timeout errors in the LabVIEW program: error-1074360293 to IMAQdx to Image.vi.  Increase the length of the timeout to 10 seconds (default is 5) has not helped.  No idea why IMAQdx does not multicast, but works correctly in unicast?  Y at - it a setting I missed?

    Hi nathand.

It seems IMAQdx 3.9 added a bug that will leave multicast mode not working correctly (the camera is silently configured for unicast in some cases mode - Interior CAR # 318906). Can you confirm if you use this version, or if you use an earlier version? If you say it works for a little while but fails, I guess it's _not_ this bug.

Do you know what type of switch you use between the camera and the two PC? If it is a managed switch he may use IGMP snooping to determine which of your interfaces is listening for multicast addresses. It is possible that a bug in implementation of this Protocol switch can cause the association to give up after a while. You may disable this Snooping and either assign manually multicast addresses are transmitted or move it to all ports.

  • Problems with multicast UDP passage from 2009 to 2010

I have Windows 7 laptop computers of switching and reclassification of LABVIEW, LABVIEW 2010 2009. One of the vi, I developed in 2009 works fine on the old laptop, but with the new laptop and LABVIEW 2010 the UDP Multicast open read-only block throws error 59: the network is down, unreachable, or has been reset. The entries in the UDP Multicast Open are multicast addr: "224.0.0.1" (converted to an IP address with a chain of blocked IP addresses: 3758096385) and port: 20103.

I can monitor the UDP traffic with wireshark and check that everything works correctly. I can even run the old system at the same time without any problem, but the new system gets error 59. I checked all network settings, including turning off the windows firewall.

Anyone know of any questions that I might have missed?

Try to build an EXE file of the machine running on the machine of 2010 and 2009.

If it works OK, then the problem on the side of the barrier LabVIEW, if it fails, then it's a Windows problem.

"Unreachable" almost always means a problem of installation of the system.

  • Several VPN GET with Multicast clouds

    Hi all

It is a recommended approach to use different multicast addresses if you use a key server to manage several groups GET VPN? It is not a provider environment hosted service but just for one customer in need of a logical separation.

I think it would be a good idea to do it, but I'm not very familiar with multicasting on a set, so I would appreciate anyone sharing similar experiences or the potential pitfalls with this config. Is there something I need to watch out for?

    Xavier

    Xavier,

given that we can separate the information at the level of the GDOI groups you should not need to use multiple addresses.

However consider a scenario in which a GM is part of Group 1, but not in Group 2. He will receive discount at the key for both, but will not be able to understand group2 generate a new key, you will see the log messages that signals a problem once per hour.

It makes sense to separate the addresses mcast especially if this deployment could grow/fork/expand in the future.

  • How to detect 'real' rates to send to peers with the help of multicast?

    Hello, everyone.

I have a question, I try the demo with

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/p2p_rtmfp_groups.html

and then I try to find the 'real' rate of sending data to peer with using multicast.

I set a timer and it will work every second what app start with "_incomingSteam" (videopodcast )

    and I followed NetGroup.info and NetStream.multicast.info (_imcomingStream.multicast.info).

who is the real rate outstream when Subscriber send video footage of other peers?

    multicastInfo.sendControlBytesPerSecond
    multicastInfo.sendDataBytesPerSecond
    multicastInfo.bytesPushedFromPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesPushedToPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesRequestedByPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesRequestedFromPeers

    Is sendDataBytesPerSecond or bytesPushedToPeers or?

    someone could help me?

HOPE EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD DAY

It depends on what you mean by 'real' rate of sending data to peers.

"sendDataBytesPerSecond" represents the payload data rate, the real info sent.

"sendControlBytesPerSecond" represents the flow of flight data that would be headers, control messages, etc.

Sum of the 2 above should give you a measure of the 'outbound' peers; -What are you looking for?
