VSAN interrogator multicast with igmp snooping active requirement

When the switch is "igmp snooping" enabled, I do not understand why VSAN Articles and book require a mrouter or interrogator to define.

Nexus switch igmp debugs and newspapers, VSAN will send members unsolicited reports every 90 seconds at the address of the group 224.1.2.3 and 224.2.3.4. It is without worrying whether or not we have configured for VLAN mrouter or igmp snooping querier. As long as VSAN is coded so as to send the membership periodically reports, should we not there so a "questioning" on the virtual LAN to send Group/General requests.

As in my tests, I have no igmp mrouter or defined vlan VSAN and VSAN applicant all communicate are good with igmp snooping enabled (default for NX - OS).

We found that for some providers of network switch, an interrogator is required when you enable IGMP snooping. If espionage works without an interrogator for your specific provider, then this is ideal. In all cases, we recommend that you consult your provider for their specific recommended configuration of switch of layer 2 multicast switch.

  • Multicast traffic stops flowing after a while when using IGMP snooping

    Hi all

    I have the following configuration:

    :

Where host 1 is a multicast traffic source and host 2 is a customer of multicast traffic. IGMP snooping is configured on both switches.
Host 2 boots and sends an IGMP report, in order to join the multicast host group 1. Given that SW2 does not know where the mrouter from the group, adds port Eth1/1 to the Group of snooping and removes the package, the IGMP packet. Once host 1 starts, it sends an IGMP query (which is flooded by the port channel), and multicast traffic starts to flow to host 2.
When I ran 'show ip Mattia snooping groups' I've seen the same result on both switches: on the two switches of the groups the Eth1/1 and the channel port, but after a while, the switch connected to the host 2 deleted the channel of the port of the group.
After consultation with the switch logs and sniff traffic on one of the channel port on SW1 interfaces, I came to the conclusion that happens since SW1 ceases to send queries generated by host 1 and responding to them locally (some proxy or something). I also noticed that IGMP reports generated by host 2 stop arriving on SW1 (since SW2 do not know that there a connected mrouter more across the channel of the port).

    My questions are:

    1. How does SW1 knows he should keep the channel port as part of the group, if it does not IGMP reports coming from SW2 more?

    2. what happens if the host 2 is not interested in multicast traffic, but do not send and IGMP leave message (a behavior that is supported according to the Protocol, to my knowledge)? How SW1 knows he should cease to IGMP sent from host 1 query response?

    Thanks in advance,

    Omer.

    Hello

The problem is because you have not mrouter port sw1. It is well documented by virtue

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/Catalyst-6500-Series-...

There are 3 ways you can solve this problem.

    1. enable Pim on Sw1.

    Or

    2. enable ip igmp snooping interrogator on Sw2

    Or

    3. create staitc mrouter port on sw2.

  • IP igmp snooping questioning?

I have read these forums and noticed that many people have problems with multicast configuration. Basically, problems are bandwidth floods, no interrogator, confusing the router pim configuration...

In addition, ive seen some promisses of technical stuff that next gen linksys switches will have #ip igmp snooping inquiringly, as cat. so I am interested if anyone can give me the answer.

It's an interesting question for a lot of people who wouldn't be expensive switches chat for this kind of simple use.

    Kind regards

    David

    Hi David,

You have much more options as seen in the GUI, so I though I'd put as simple network together and run you through a validation.

But I guess you have the updated version of the switch SRW224G4P called SRW224G4P-K9-NA.

If you have the old switch what follows is irrelevant for you.

    I implemented a simple network diagram showing my simple network topology used during my wee test;

I chose the RV042 as my router from Layer 3 in this network.

It was really to provide DHCP services, but shortly after that all devices have IP addresses, I removed the RV042, becauise, I noticed he was sending IP IGMP General queries.     Something that I didn't have in the next test.

I was using a software based multicast Tester, produced by the wonderful people at Twisted Pair Solutions.  This software can send or receive multicasts to a defined group, and that correctly meets General IGMP queries. I'll call this software MCT (multicast test).

I got the software MCT on PC C.  PC C is connected to the switch 10 port, it sends the multicasts in the switch at a rate of about 10 packages of multicast a second.

I got the software MCT on PC PC a. is plugged into the switch port 1.  She is set to receive and count of multicasts from switch

I got B PC connected to the switch port 2. PC B check switch statistics, but do not try to receive multicasts of 3 PC.

I had Setup multicast snooping on VLAN 1 and mark according to the screenshot of GUI.

Note: I had only one vlan on the switch.

In a composite of two screenshots below, you can see that the status between the IGMP queries is enabled.

I removed the RV042 out of the network, because I noticed in an on PC A wireshark capture, the RV042 sent General group queries.  I wanted to switch to reprise this role

I waited a few minutes and only displays the igmp activity.

    It can be clearly seen in the screenshot below;

    • Switch series SG300 sent General queries (2 minutes) of the IP source 172.16.1.100.
    • He waited for the general query router mcast, but when none came, 60 seconds later sent it's own general request.  Fair enough, he had to assume that a router mcast can send general queries every minute.

Statistics of the switch can be seen below, it showed.

    • B PC on the switch port that G2 was not invaded by the multicasts, in other words snooping works;
    • Port 10, PC C sends to 2962 of multicast to switch packets.
    • Port 1, PC A 2900 receives multicast switch packets
    • port 2B, PC is not part of the multicast group 234.55.66.77 and as such is not invaded by the multicasts.

All three PCs are windows based products, and some of the multicasts emanate from these devices.

  • IGMP snooping on a stack

    Hello

    I have 2 N4032F in a stack.

The switches are for a VSAN cluster.

I want to enable IGMP snooping so I can use them for a 2nd VSAN cluster (in one VLAN different).

At the moment I have not put up to no matter what VLAN for the current cluster uses the native VLAN 1.

What are appropriate measures that I have to do to enable IGMP with minimum downtime?

    Thank you

The best place to start is page 449 of the cli guide. It details the commands to enable IGMP snooping, and what is each order.

    Dell.to/1KxGn74

Here is an example of allow the IGMP.

Console (config) # ip igmp snooping

Console (config) # interface vlan 2

Console (Config-if-VLAN2) # ip igmp snooping

IGMP snooping is enabled, but there are still other parameters that can be put in place and are dealt with in the section the guide IGMP snooping.

Once Setup you can use the following command to check the status of monitoring IGMP cuerrent.

Console (config) #show ip igmp snooping

    See you soon

  • N3000 (6.1.1.7) issue igmp snooping

    G ' Day!

I am setting up a new N3048P switch and having a weird problem with multicast packets invaded to all ports in the Vlan ONLY when there is no one joined in this multicast group, IE. shows "show ip igmp snooping group' the table is empty"there are currently no entries in the table."

If there is one or more hosts who have joined the multicast group that the IGMP Snooping works as expected - no flooding - multicasts packets arrive only on interfaces where the hosts 'asked' for it and in the IGMP Snooping table according to the output of the command 'show ip igmp snooping group'.

Anyone seen this before? Is this a normal behavior?

After the reading of the bible (tools.ietf.org/.../rfc4541) it comes to the behaviour expected of an 'unregistered package' in accordance with paragraph 3, of tools.ietf.org/.../rfc4541

  • Multicast with AP1141N

Recently, I had 4 1141N access points installed in my house. Everything works fine except that I have a Windows application for Lutron lighting control that uses multicast to find the main Lutron control on the network device. If my PC is on a wired connection, everything works fine. The software can 'discover' the Lutron controller on the network without problem. However, when I try to exactly the same thing on the same PC but using Wi - Fi, it does not work.

I wonder if there might be a setting on the WAP that must be set to enable multicasting. The guys who installed the network were late, so I suspect they just accept the defaults for everything they could, and perhaps multicasting is not enabled by default.

Any ideas on what I need to do to change the WAP config to enable multicast?

    Karl

Run the command 'no ip igmp snooping' or ' no ip igmp snooping vlan "on the CLI AP to get multicast switch and let me know how it works for you.

  • Smartphones blackBerry activation required

Contacted my provider and they said everything is OK their end and to communicate with black berries.

Everything seems to work properly but I can delete this post... Any ideas please.

Or is anyone know how contact Blackberry directly

A reset or the registry of the HRT will not solve this problem.

Who is the brand for the Storm2? Verizon?

To remove the "Activation required" text at the top of the screen, you need to access CDMA SETTINGS on your BlackBerry to press the Green dial and enter # 000000 and press the green button again. You must enter the screen change the CDMA.

If the unit is branded to Verizon, and if you are in a House of Verizon calling area, you will not be able to access this screen, and then you're stuck with as is.

    Thank you

VSAN Checkup shows that everything works well? My guess is that your 2 hosts have problems with communication with the node of witness or vice versa.

Try to modify the VSAN storage policy to enable ForceProvisioning as a test, if it works, the problem is probably problem of config/route network communicates with the witness.

I noticed that using TPM 1.2 does not give me this problem, so I went to that and everything was good. I expected that TPM 2.0 was less probematic, but it is not true.

  • When I try to access utility 'defrag' from Microsoft, a link to "Diskeeper" is everything that happens with download and purchase required.

When I try to access utility 'defrag' from Microsoft, a link to "Diskeeper" is everything that happens with download and purchase required.  What is an intrusion to avoid?  It is possible to access the Microsoft defrag utility?

Glen, have you ever tried to download Diskeeper?

If so, he may have added something on your computer for access to defragment.

You're going to start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > Disk Defragmenter and obtaining the pop-up window?

Check in Add/Remove programs and see if something diskeeper is installed then uninstall it.

Post back with more information, make and model of the pc, current anti-virus, browser and operating system and the service pack.

    also:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:

  • Black screen with a cursor active

I have problems similar to others.  After that I connect to my computer, it goes to a black screen with a cursor active.  After a few minutes my screen saver turns on, but he won't top counter just a black screen?  I tried to start it 5 or 6 times without result. I haven't added new programs (that I know) unless they have been updated automatically.

What is the problem and the fix... Thank you

    Hello

    See if that helps you.

Do a Safe Mode system restore to before the problem started.

If it doesn't, try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft

Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.

Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

    2. How to perform an automatic repair of Windows Vista using Startup Repair

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.

Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

  • The server {8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820} is not registered with DCOM within the required time.

This morning when I checked my system log, it was filled with errors, while saying:

The server {8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820} is not registered with DCOM within the required time.

A quick search of the register revealed that it identifies Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). I looked, and indeed, he was arrested. When I tried to start it, I got the error message:

Could not start the Windows Management Instrumentation service on Local computer

    Error 193: 0xc1

All the help I can find on the subject assumes that the application does not have the required permissions. Nothing has been deliberately changed. I tried to do a restore of the system of the last days at several checkpoints and received messages that it could be done. So, I checked all the required permissions were still in place.

My operating system is XP Pro SP3 with all updates applied.

So, I have to say that something broken, perhaps in the framework of an automatic update or another. Now, when I try to run Microsoft Update, it just hangs.

Maybe there is not enough information here, but I'm looking for more help on troubleshooting. I have the system tools enough to report all the news of trial if necessary.

    Thank you

    Don

Even if I had run a chkdsk/r on my system disk and he come clean, I have decided to launch a sfc/scannow and found 3 DLLs that were somehow not original. Once these have been restored, the errors have stopped (so far). While it was only 30 minutes, it is the longest, I went all day with no error message. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Disable the automatic connection for Windows 7 with 1 single active account.

I've searched high and low on Google but all I could find are methods to allow the automatic connection.

Is it possible to have Windows 7 load to the top of the selection of Auditors even screen with 1 single active account?

I remember what is a function available in XP.

There are probably more simple methods, but it certainly works: create a fake account, then bring it to be hidden from the logon screen. The following batch file will do it for you when it is run under elevated privileges. Of course, you must disable the usual automatic connection setting via this command:

    Control userpasswords2

And here's the batch file. Use the copy & paste - do not retype! Note that the line starting with
"echo > % RegFile" is a very long line that ends in 'UserList]. " Not to break upward.

    off @echo
    Set RegFile="%temp%\reg.reg".
    echo > RegFile % REGEDIT4
    echo > RegFile % [HKey_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList]
    echo > RegFile % "DummyUser" = DWORD: 00000000
    Regedit RegFile %
