my administrator account cannot delete a file

I use Windows 7 Home Premium and this machine has only 1 account which is my account and it is password protected.

As my account is the only one, it is also the administrator for this computer account, a folder there, although I can not simply delete and because of that, I can't delete the directory it is in (this is the only property in the directory). If I try to delete the file, it simply reappears (I tried the remove and Shift + Delete), and I can't even delete the folder because according to the system "you need permission from administrators to do changed this folder»
It is not a file system or anything, just an installer for a game I don't play anymore.
Please help me,
Thanks in advance.

I know it's risky, and it is only temporary.

Here are a few methods that might work. Ago more powerful in case they do not:

  • Demarrer start in Safe Mode, and then try to delete.
  • Keep pressing F8 during startup, and then enter the Windows Repair Mode. From the command prompt type this command:
    RD/s/a C:\Games\9d
The command removes the folder 9 d. The drive letter may be C:, D: or E:. I guess that you do not have a folder called \Games on another drive.

Cannot delete the file.  Says "not not found could not find this item check the location of this object and try again."

I got this file from my friend got sent - is a word document, I had on their computer.  So I tried to use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files, temporary internet files and files program downloaded.  Does not work.

When I check the properties, there is no security tab so I can't transfer ownership in this way.

I don't want to experiment using the way of the transfer of ownership command prompt as the name of the file is several sentences long.  I can't rename it either, of course.

Windows 7, a week and I already have a stupid problem which has already lost an hour of my time.

What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away.  Once registered.  I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem.  Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

  • Cannot delete a file in windows 7. Indicates the specified file name is not valid or too long.

Hello everyone, I'm pretty stuck here. I can't delete a file in windows 7 or any other do with it besides. Says "the specified file name is not valid or too long. The properties are all screwed looking with a mistake on the Security tab, a size of 0 k, is a Windows (c) \Windows\en-US.The other files in this folder appear normal. The computer seems to work very well without any obvious problems. The only problem is my anti-virus reports with a kind of syntax for the file error and indicates it cannot parse this file. I do not. I can't do a thing with it either. Cannot open, rename, move, delete, change passwords, properties, permissions, nothing. It may be necessary for a good part with 0kb. According to me, I want to just delete the thing. Please, anyone? Thanks in advance.

Hey bud, I figured out how fix it earlier. I am so happy. I came to remember a command called chkdsk which worked very well for various issues, that I had since the construction of my old 2000 Professional machine. I think that one was my first NTFS system. I always liked how well he error correction. Seemed a lot better than the old scandisk. Low and behold, I tried and star ANISE, it is went through it, found this file almost from the beginning of the analysis and a few lines later, he said has been removed. Says something about the file being orphaned some time ago. It was a very bad child, that I tell you. I ran it in safe mode command prompt. I guess he would have done the same thing in the normal windows well, but I happened to be in safemode, when it came to me. I used the switch /f with her. Since the C:\ command prompt or any drive letter your operating system is selected, type CHKDSK/F if I remember although the f was to have it automatically CORRECT errors. I hope this info helps others with their file or disk problems. It seems that many people say they get mistakes and cannot delete various files here in these forums. Thanks Sandeep for answering me and try to help. It does not matter whether or not it was the fix, it takes time to post and your helping people learn to be it. The only thing that remains unanswered for me is actually the thing of the answer. I mean I can't say someone at - it really answered my question and do not count me? Maybe I should mark so that people will bother to read it and get the fix. HMMMM... I come back here some time later and see whats up.  SeeYou, EWOO

I desperately need to merge two administrative accounts on my laptop - using XP and NOT windows 7 (so there is no transfer Assistant). I need to transfer all of the OLD admin. account in the NEW Admin account.

For the full backup used Carbonite - due erase hard drive and reinstall XP - carbonite cust. veeeeery slooooow service and I had to use the laptop for the preparatory work.  When the backup has been restored, he implemented the administrative account of origin, besides I have created a new.  Now, most of the files are under the old administrative account, and I need to move the OLD files in the NEW Admin account.

Would sincerely appreciate your very specific instructions? ... step by step, if possible? Not quite a prolific technician, but no slouch, not more.

    Thank you very much!

You can't really merge two accounts. You can copy data from one account to the other. Folder options > view tab > check "Show hidden files". Then go to:

c:\Documents and Settings\name of the old account and copy the files to My Documents, desktop, Favorites in folders in your new user account. When you have all your stuff, you can delete the old user account from the control panel > user accounts. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

How what you are trying to delete? Have you tried to delete the attachment it yourself or the entire email. Have you tried to delete the entire thing on the server using a web browser?

Tried to reset the phone, no joy.

What does that mean? Have you tried to restart the phone? Have you tried to close the mail application and force restart the phone?

Press the Home button twice quickly. You will see small glimpses of your applications recently used. Drag to the left to find the application you want to close. Swipe up on the preview of the application to close

To force the reboot your device, press and hold the two buttons of sleep/wake and home for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

To add to what mysoul said, you can also try the following:

To resolve this problem, you must turn off Simple file sharing, and then take ownership of the folder:

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options , and then click the view tab.

Under Advanced settings , clear the use simple file (recommended) sharing , and then click OK .

    2.

Right click on the folder that you want to take control and then click Properties .

    3.

Click the Security tab, and then click OK in the Security message, if an unknown device appears.

    4.

Click Advanced , and then click the owner tab.

    5.

In the name list, click your user name, administrator , if you are logged in as administrator, or click the Administrators group.

If you want to take ownership of the contents of this folder, click to select the check box Replace owner of subcontainers and objects .

    6.

    Click OK .

You may receive the following error message, where folderis the name of the folder you want to take care of:

You are not allowed to read the contents of directory folder . Do you want to replace the the directory permissions with permissions granting you full control? All permissions will be replaced if you press Yes.

  • Cannot delete a file.

I copied the SC5.exe of a SuperCalc installation disk on my desktop. Now I can't delete it, I get the error that it is used by another program or person. How can I find what who or who is using it?

    Hello

Use the Safe Mode if possible - repeatedly, press F8 that you start.

    If necessary, use these utilities

    UnLocker (free) + 1.91
    http://unlocker.emptyloop.com/

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN

Below also work on Vista 64 bit

Another good alternative - use FileAssassin:

    FileAssassin - free
    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.php

Force delete (cannot delete) closed or in used files or folders with FileASSASSIN
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/27/force-delete-cannot-delete-locked-or-in-used-files-or-folders-with-FileASSASSIN/

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN

    And this - MoveOnBoot

    MoveOnBoot

    I hope this helps.

  • no administrator account - cannot remove other accounts

recently to create new account on the computer form ym administrator accont and tried to make one of them administrator instead of mine. somehow, that didn't work now none of the administrator account, all are standard. I am trying to delete other accounts, but I can't because it is written enter administrator password, but it does not work. I don't have the fingerprint reader because I hated that and I can't put it back on because, once more, do not have the apparent administrator password to put it on. What can I do to create an account administrator or make it mine admin again?

Your post is quite dispersed and hard to read, but consider that most of the problem is that you have not all administrator accounts. The first thing to try is to start safe mode. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. That you will get to the menu on the right where you can use your arrow key to select Mode safe [Enter]. The built-in Administrator account is disabled by default in Vista. However, if no other administrative accounts exist on the system it can be activated. If this is the case, you will see an icon for the administrator on the homescreen mode without failure. Sign in (password will be white) and then go to control panel > user accounts and make changes to the user to other accounts on the system. You can then follow the General instructions for setting up user accounts in Vista that I will give you at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and whether taking the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) or a knowledgeable friend is the best solution for you.

If you don't see the icon for the administrator mode safe account, then the built-in Administrator account is always disabled.

    1. you will need to use NTpasswd to enable (disabled by default) built-in Administrator account and set a password to null (empty). Allowing this account will put an icon for it on the logon screen so that you can then connect.

    http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Download CD (.iso) image and burn as an image, not as data. You will need a third party burning software. Then boot with the CD that you created and follow the directions. After you are done with NTpasswd, remove the CD and restart the computer. Log on to the administrator account that you enabled.

    2. Once you have logged on to the built-in Administrator account, go to control panel > user accounts and make changes as you wish. I suggest making an account administrative 'tech': call 'Tech' or 'CompAdmin' - at this time there. See the end of this post for creating users in Vista.

3 log on the built-in Administrator account and CompAdmin. While in CompAdmin, turn off the account administrator for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

    Setting up users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is an OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
