  Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I see when you print from Excel to your HP Deskjet 2540 printing comes empty or with very weak lines. You have a lot of ink, and you have no problem printing from other programs. You tried to uninstall and reinstall the software without success.

  I would like to first you attempt to change the quality setting, you can have currently set to normal, we will try to print in optimized mode and see if that helps:

  1. go to your Start Menu

  2. go to your devices and printers

  3. right click on your DJ 2540 and navigate to Printing Preferences

  4. click on the paper/quality tab

  5. Select the best mode

  6. click on apply

  Now try printing from Excel, you still get blank pages? Please let me know the results if you are still running into errors let me the following information:

  1. What is your current operating system, Windows or Mac and what version?

  2. What is the connected USB printer or wireless?

  3. are there any exceptional computer upgrades that have not been installed?

  Also check that your USB adapter is installed (Device Manager) and the computer can set the optimal settings for the port LPT adapter (properties).

  Is this a new computer you use with Windows 8?

  Most new computers that support USB 3.0 will also have at least 1 or 2 USB 2.0 Ports, not all USB devices that support the new USB 3.0 standard.

  If you want to use the drive to read and save files on both mac & PC I think that you will need create separate partitions on the disk, a formatted for mac and one for the PC.

  The utility linked above only allows access to a mac formatted drive and access the data, having never had to use it I don't know if it allows you to save files PC to the mac player

  Unplug the printer from the PC.  Go to configuration, programs and feature control panel and uninstall all software of Canon which shows as being installed.

  Install the software and do NOT reconnect the printer until the software tells you to do.

  Go to the Panel of control---> programs and features and uninstall the C4280 existing software.  Now install the software for the C4280 Windows 8.1.

  You can try to disable the print spooler before uninstalling the software.

  After restarting your computer, turn it off before you reinstall the software...
