My computer is completely changed this morning, it seems almost as if when buying. How to restore last status of nights?

Office of my HP Compaq points IE. background, screensaver, Notepad, word pad, installed programs and games is missing or modified. Documents and files of more than a thousand are now as if they didn't exist. Whatever it is on the start menu or the desktop when clicked on requires an option I agree or I refuse . Evven of the taskbar displays an icon of Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer on this subject. It's as if I just bought the computer with the exception of a few programs that are out there like Adobe Reader or Jarte ", although the files that I wrote are not there. What is the equivalent of a system crash? If it is or not, what I can do, if anything to restore my programs and files.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to Microsoft Community where you can find the answers related to Windows.

According to the description, it looks that you are facing a problem with the settings, and programs from Windows Vista.

It would be great if you could answer these questions to help you further.

1. do you receive an error message or error code?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

This problem occurs because the system file settings or the default program files and settings.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check.

Method 1:

See the following Microsoft article and check.

Changing the programs Windows uses by default: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows-vista/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Note: FixIt would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of data loss from that particular area.

Method 2:

I suggest you to perform system restore to a point when the computer was working fine.

System Restore: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/What-is-System-Restore

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Method 3:

I suggest you try to create a new user account and check if the problem still persists.

New user account will help us know if the problem is with the user account or the computer settings.

Create a new user account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-user-account

Check if the problem reappeared in a new user account, if it does not transfer the files from the damaged to the new user profile user profile.

For instructions, see the following article:

Difficulty of a corrupt user profile: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

Keep us informed on the status of the issue.

If you have suggestions/questions more related to Windows feel free to post and we will be happy to help you.

  • Installed the latest important updates this morning; upon restart, the computer didn't work as expected. now behaves as if the motherboard is dead.

This morning at appx. 1:30 AM PST, I installed the latest important updates from the Windows Update Manager on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. I did manually, by a double click on the little icon in the toolbar and clicking on the button install. Once the update had completed, I clicked on the "restart later" button and close my computer using the Shut Down command - the usual symbol "click here to close and complete the installation" didn't appear. I thought it was a little weird, but chalked it up to the fact that I had taken the lead and made the installation.

About an hour and a half later, after being able to get to sleep, I decided that I would try to do a job. I pressed the power button and my computer started well upward, giving me the ' now install, update (1/3) [percentage] completed. Do not turn off your computer. "message. Which is quite normal, let him do his thing without turning it off.

The update is completed and I am greeted by my office. Displays the logon to Gmail Notifier window, and that's when my problems began: I tried to move the arrow to disappear, and the arrow has not moved. The circle of "transformation" had, next to the arrow, so I thought it must be a minor hiccup. I've waited, waited and waited... But even after all of my normal startup programs loaded, my mouse has failed.

Pressing the Windows key to open the menu start does not work, either; It was as if everything had been disconnected. After waiting a few minutes, I decide that maybe I just need to restart and, given that my keyboard was not working, I pressed and held the power button until the system off (I know, I know, it's a horrible thing to do).

I waited a minute, and then you press the power button. The lights came on, the fan spun, but the screen remains black as if I did nothing. I waited, because my computer arrived in the past tried to give me an attack of apoplexy by hanging several screens, but... nothing. The fan spun, the light shone their beautiful blue, but that's all.

The only thing I have changed or done differently was the updates, I have not dropped my computer; I've not spilled something on or in I have a Targus chill mat that I use religiously. I download attachments from people I don't know no/trust (I can't, my antivirus program deletes attachments in emails from spam); I use Firefox with NoScript and anti-ad; My AV/Antispyware/malware program is always up to date and six types of awesome and more.

My system is Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv6000. I have an AMD Turion 64 x 2 processor and a Nvidia mobile graphics card (I don't remember exactly who he is; I can't the specs). I don't have a DVD of restoration, for reasons that did not need explores right now. I had my phone on... Two years, I think. I'll have to double check.

I can't start in safe mode, because I get nothing - no POST, no beeps, without bumps. The CD/DVD drive makes some noises, as he is looking for a drive (there isn't one in the drive), and that's it.

I think I have to take someone and make them open and see what's the problem, but I appreciate any thoughts/ideas/opinions/assistance that anyone can give. Thank you for your time and attention.

Alas, no, the screen seems to be fine. He had not been acting funny before that, in any case. I checked out, and the external monitor just went to sleep because there is no signal.

Thanks for taking a peek anyway. I guess it's a workshop for me and my laptop.

You should be able to move your cursor to the top of the screen and the menu bar will fall.  So, you start with

Drag the slider to the top of the screen against the edge and hold that and you should see

Click the button of "green".  This should take you out of mode full-screen Mail.

Command + control + F should do it too.

Also when you have the cursor at the top of the screen and the menu bar comes down, you could also use Mail-> view-> full screen output

You should also be able to use the command + Tab to switch to another application

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Shockwave Flash should not do that. However, if you want to delete it go to programs and features in Control Panel. Click once on Adobe Shockwave Player and click on uninstall in the menu at the top. I suggest you do a comprehensive analysis here, a free service offered by Microsoft. http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/Center/whatsnew.htm

  • I tried to start my computer this morning, and he says that he stop bad last night. I can boot into SafeMode only. I'm getting just a black screen windows trys to start. __

I can not connect when I turn on my computer the error messege says that it has been properly closed. Him freezes just screen (black), I tried to stop and restart several times, and produce the same results. All started when I tried to get my 'new' Hp keyboard to work in ports at the back of the tower. That didn't work so I tried to use my old keyboard in the same port, in vain. I ended up having to use the USB ports on the front of the tower to get a keyboard work. Good so I know I messed up when I downloaded a driver tech program. All successful going great until I tried to turn my computer on this morning the screen BLACK nothing. The error message says that it computer was shut down improperly and now it will not load.

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

  • This happened to me this morning and I went to my computer. Is this what can I do now?

I'm allowed in my count this morning. Am I at risk and there at - it something I can do?

Do you mean that you received a phone call claiming that your PC is at risk / infected?

And then allowed someone to access your PC remotely?

If only complete prevention is to restore your system to the condition of the plant, destroying everything on the disk, and then changing all the passwords for any site or service you log - on to, for example banking / email etc

Now the computer says disc is not readable by this computer. Looks like it's a goner but maybe not, I don't know. I can't tell if it's the same thing to my Lacie Time Machine. There are no backups on it. How will I know what to do? Nothing is salvageable?

Try to run a disk utility to repair your disk of TM. It seems that there are 757 GB of backup data it me.
