My computer must be enabled for scheduled scans start?

Stupid question: if I have a security scan scheduled to be said at 02:00, my computer should be enabled?

Hello GKGibb,

Yes I am afraid that your PC has to be turned on for a scheduled task start. Without power, the task is ignored and scheduled for the next available time. Once again the PC is turned off, then the scheduled task will still be ignored.

This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the opinion of Microsoft, its employees or other MVPS.

I you merge your two threads, but your problem is perhaps due to incomplete removal of BitDefender.

    Hello

It looks like it may be duplicated if the following changes are made:

Disable Java Caching. Control Panel->Java. On the General tab, Temporary Internet Files pane, select Settings and untick the 'Keep temporary files on my computer' option. Clear the Java cache

So to reverse the process - go to the Java application on the Control Panel, select settings osteonecrosis of the general part of temporary Internet files, then check "keep temporary files on my computer". This should hopefully solve the problem.

  • Essentials of security will run a scheduled scan of the entire system on a computer running Win. XP hibernation

Essentials of security will run a scheduled scan of the entire system on a computer running windows XP Hibernate

No scanning is performed in hibernation, standby, sleep, or else that the system is powered off.  You must plan the scan for a time when the PC is running.  MIDI works fine for me.

  • Daily schedule scans for Windows Defender.

I planned my Windows Defender ACCT to do daily, a full scan, at 05:00.  However, I just got a notice that a comprehensive analysis was made for the last 5 days!  Why is this happening?  Thank you.

    Hi Harland,

As you plan the scan at 5:00 every day, the system must be switched on at the scheduled time and allow the analysis to be performed. If the system is turned OFF or the system is shut down during the analysis, we encounter this problem. However, there is a setting that can be applied to the analysis starts automatically when the system boots.

To activate this setting, try the following steps.
    1. Click Start, type taskschd.msc and press to enter.
    2. click on continue in the UAC prompt.
    3. in the right pane, click view, and click Show hidden tasks to check it out. (See screenshot below step 7)
    4. in the left pane, click the arrow on the Task Scheduler Library folder and the folder of Microsoft to develop.
    5. click on the folder of Windows Defender.
    6. in the middle pane, right-click on the MP scheduled Scan list and click Properties.
    7. click on the settings tab.
    8. check the 'run task as soon as possible after a regular departure is missed box."
NOTE: This will allow Windows Defender perform the scheduled scan the next time you have the computer if the scan is not respected because she is not able to run at the scheduled time.
    9. click on the OK button.
    10. Close Task Scheduler window.

For more information on "Use Windows Defender" check this help link on windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Using-Windows-Defender

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards

  • Should be activated for scheduled defragmentation defragmentation - my computer work?

    Good afternoon

Must the computer be activated for the fragmentation of regular work?  Because my schedule is due to run on October 1, 2011 at 22:00

But that date came and went and nothing happened (my computer was turned off at the time it was supposed to have taken place)

So I had to do a manual defragmentation.  Help, please.

Just read some of these posts on defrag and just wondering if the computer must be on the regular operation... no not a big worry.  I always forget what time is scheduled, so I just do it mannualy when I think of it or so slow... seems to help.

See in any case you're from Wales... would like to go there as shown in my ancestry we were the country of Wales, on my father's side.  A recent past, since the 1960s began researching it.  It shows that we were once fees and lived in a castle there in the early 1600s.  The family emblem... I forgot the name of the castle today.

In regard to our time and this computer thing, I started late in life also... not knowing anything.  Good enough at home, although sometimes you get frustrated.   I will say, my children are quite impressed by the knowledge that I won.

Appreciated your comments, of one Welch to another... HA...

  • the computer must be on and the windows scan and fax program open to receive a fax?

I would like to receive faxes at any time - the computer must I be on and windows & scan fax needs to be run to receive a fax?

I looked through many pages of documentation and the forums and didn't find any reference to this.

    Thanks, Gil

He probably could if your fax/modem may wake the computer from sleep mode. But you would still have to wonder if the fax send would wait long enough for the PC to detect the ring, wake up and be ready to deal with a fax.

    Hello

    • What were the changes made before the issue started?
    • What version of Windows operating system do you use?

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you try to analyze the file from the following location:
    1. navigate to the folder of C:\program HP imaging\bin location
    2
Locate and double click on hpqsciapp.exe to activate the scanning application.

    Method 2:
If the steps above fail, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from the HP site and see if that helps.

In MMC, I created the group policy and found through web search that computers with mapped network drives can connect better if "always wait for network when starting the computer and logon" is enabled...  So far, it has been very nice to have allowed.  Is no longer mapped network drives see the place as disconnected.  But what happens if the computer is not connected to a network?  Say the wireless router will turn off and your computer always 'wait... • protection technology of identification made by intel plug-in must be enabled

"" this plugin came with my mozilla browser in "to activate the mode" must be enabled or not.

Firefox detects a lot of plugins that is preinstalled on your system...

Intel claims the identity Protection technology as helping to prevent identity theft by allowing Web sites to identify your computer, which can limit access to other computers if someone learns your username and password:

    http://IPT.Intel.com/home/how-it-works/identity-theft-protection

Good, but I don't know that many websites use this feature. Is it really useful or they just go to Plan B, as texting you a code?

If you find a site asking to use the plugin, you would like it to be a website you trust since this identifier doesn't know anything about the integrated Firefox Privacy features (clearing cookies, private browsing, etc.). For this reason, I don't think that "Always enable" is a good idea.
