  When I type in MS Word or OpenOffice or any other text box on a Web site for example flushing prompt that identifies where the next word/character must be placed around the screen jumps.

  So when I type a line of text I then start another line below and then without reason, that the text cursor jumps to the top line. This inserts text in the wrong place, which is incredibly annoying!

  Any help or ideas greatly appreciated!

  Look at the top left in the Control Panel, you will see the proxy is called a square in which the black dot is the reference, you can click on any point to change the reference of the upper-left, Center, bottom right etc. Reset preferences don't just that: setting the top left point of the page. In the future simply click on the desired point.
