  • Windows 7 - preparation set up windows. Do not turn off.

I got this new toshiba laptop with windows 7 and it starts up and started using it. activated the 30 days free trial norton, surfing the internet and worked on some pictures for my sister. When I went to close it it says something like "installation 59 updates ' he has done fast enough, then it turned off. I went to meet my sister and when I turned on the laptop, he said 'preparation set up windows. do not turn off"he was stuck on this for hours, about 2 or 3. I thought that maybe he was stuck so I turned it off. I turned it back and he was still stuck on this same configuration screen. I turned off then turned it back and went into safe mode. I did a restore to before the updates 59 which was only a few hours earlier. I restarted the laptop and it looked pretty good. then I noticed he was saying something about the norton is maybe defective. he wouldn't let me turn on the antivirus and firewall. he wouldn't let me enter the network. I can't get on the internet basically can't do anything. It seems to work, but it is not. now, whenever I stopped it it starts to install the updates and when I start it again, it goes to the preparation set up the screen. I even left it for a day and a half on the screen configuration and nothing. What is the problem with my laptop brand new?

Usually a single word explains what causes these problems - Norton !
Is the laptop still under warranty? If so, Toshiba needs then provide support for problems with the operating system.

Instead of contact Toshiba, then through the dance where they try to blame Microsoft and will not help you, if the laptop is a recent purchase so I suggest you press on press F8 key just after you press the power button.
If you do not press F8 in time then Windows 7 will attempt to load and you will have to wait until she did try to do.
Shut down the laptop and reboot again, by pressing F8 to only a Boot Menu appears.

In the upper-left corner of the Start Menu should be a link to repair your computer .
    Choose this option.
The System Recovery Options window should now appear. This is what it will look like - What are the system recovery options windows 7?
At the bottom of this list there should be a Toshiba provided option that will allow you to do a clean/restore Windows 7 install.
If she's not here so Toshiba should have provided you with a recovery with which disk you can boot up the laptop and then access the system recovery.

Do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 (a format of the hard drive) and the installation of Windows 7.
Once you have done this, and the system has rebooted for the last time, uninstall all Norton products immediately by clicking on the start ORB,
in the field of research to install type.
Under control panel, click on the link "view the programs that are installed on your computer.
After you have uninstalled the Norton "tricks", restart the system.

Update the computer laptop now, install the updates offered in groups of 10 only ! Yes it's more slow their installation at once, but... you already know the result to install all updates at once, right?

When all updates and required reboots are finished, suggest you only install the freeMicrosoft Security Essentials or Avast.
Both are valid antivirus programs, and both are compatible with Windows 7.

I can't turn on Windows Defender, nor can I open it upwards. The error code that is displayed is 0x8800106ba. What does this code mean?

    Hi, tonytiger34.

The usual solution to this error is to make sure that the service is automatic. Oferror message when you run Windows Defender: 'Error 0x800106ba Code' :

"To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Set the Windows Defender service on Automatic rather than Manual or disabled . To do this, follow these steps:

      1. Click Start

The collapse of this image enlarge this image

type services in the Start Search box, and then clickServices in the programs list.

The collapse of this image enlarge this image

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or clickcontinue .

      2. Double-click the Windows Defender service and then in the Startup type box, clickAutomatic .
      3. Click OK . »

If the automatic commissioning does not resolve the problem, try reinstalling Windows Defender.  Note, however, if you have installed Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender disabled installation because MSE includes anti-spyware protection.

  • Stuck on the screen "Please wait" or "Configuring windows. Do not turn off your computer.

    I'm under 64-bit Windows 8

Apparently, I scanned my system with a complete analysis of the system (AVAST) and my computer left thinking that it would take several hours. When I came back, my computer automatically shut down because it was left idle for about 4 hours. I don't know if the scan is finished. When I try to start, the screen becomes screen stuck on "Please wait" or "windows setup. Do not turn off your computer.

I already tried to go on the System Recovery Options screen, then will solve the problems, then Advanced Options, but I tried everything what it and the problem persists even when I tried to start in safe mode. I tried to go to the command prompt, and then type sfc / scannow, but he says he cannot parse now. I also tried chkdsk / R, but it said the same thing. I don't know how to run cmd as administrator from the System Recovery Options.

So now I tried to use system restore, but I'm stuck on the logo of windows for about 1 and a half hour. I don't know if I have to wait for it or it is already blocked. In other forums I've read, they were using only the Group of drive 'C:' connected with system restore. Should I do this?

I think to delete AVAST or turn it off somehow.

    Please help me.

    Problem solved

I would like to share how I solved the problem. I was able to start using the windows 8 cd and in the window that asks you the language of the windows 8 needs to be installed, you can see below "computer repair".

After clicking on it, it automatically prompts me for advanced boot parameters. First I tried the auto repair, but it says the same thing, '.. '. can't fix right now... »
So I tried the option "pc refresh. I waited a few minutes to cool to do and after the process, it is more hung please wait screen when starting.

Once connected, I installed programs have been removed. In the local disk files, there is a new "windows.old folder ' showing all programs that I have the old system. Re-install program is easy and the best thing is that I have my computer back.

My deep gratitude to those who helped me. Thank you!

  • Dell 3000 Series Inspiron15 (3558) - anyone know how to do to increase performance?

What is the best way to get the best performance from my laptop without spending a lot of money and the warranty?

Does make a difference to have most of my files on an external hard drive to my internal drive?

Also, I would like to know how to find out what drivers now, I installed against those that I did not.

Thank you for your time and effort.   I want just to optimize my capabilities of computers.

The external drive is limited not by the USB 3.0 interface, but internally - no disc hard spinning can't come anywhere close to USB 2.0 speeds, not to mention USB 3.0.  Add in the pilot's head and an external hard drive will be slower that any internal drive, all things being equal.

If you want the fastest, you can obtain, replace the internal drive with an SSD and use the external hard drive for data storage - NOT to run programs.

  • Disk Dell OEM of Windows 7 does not have a product key?

My computer began to crash so I reformatted my computer and installed Windows 7 Professional using my OEM drive. After installation, my computer installed 70 something updates. Then, he says Windows must be enabled. For some reason any it will never trigger. After several days of trying to figure out why it will not be activated. Finally, I downloaded Produkey to watch my product key. That the when I noticed that it is said that he was not a found Windows product key. My drive was supposed to install Windows 7 without having to use a product key. What should I do?

In fact, I bought the office refurbished Dell. It came with Windows 7 OEM disc. What's weird, is that the sticker on the body of the computer is Windows XP Professional.

An OEM Win 7 installation disc also requires the issuance of a product key OEM COA on a real label.  If you do not have this feature so you don't have a genuine OEM product for your refurbished Dell.  You cannot use a XP Pro COA to activate a product Win 7.

I strongly suggest that you download and run the real MS Diagnostics program from this site:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

  • Screen touch Dell Inspiron 13, Windows 8 does not work until afternoon every day.

I guess that's because Windows is busy running his process of updating or defender or Dell is busy running his Backup and Recovery Tool all morning and only when these are made of their analyses, let loose the use of touch screen?  I have no problem with the touch screen at any time of the day, only four first or five hours of the computer is on.

Computer again 2 months ago.  It worked fine until the protection software free McAfee missed and I turned on Windows Firewall.

    Hi Bill,

Once you have validated my Windows Defender and Windows Firewall turns, I knew that they were not the problem if I'm focused on what did Dell.  I stopped the Dell service support process to run and my touch screen works. So I think it must scan every morning for a few hours and somehow stop the screen when run.  If everything works fine now.  I like to talk to you.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion 500 series: Windows 10 does not recognize my HP Envy 5532 as a scanner

Since upgradingg to Windows 10 my printer works, but I can't get the function of scan to post a link to the PC, can you provide any help with this.

Sometimes I have the same printer. I fell on the same subject. The new driver, which is available at Hp seems to have solved the problem I had.  Here's what I just did.

    (1) uninstall the printer from the printers and devices.

    (2) download the following driver.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-envy-5500-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/model/5304882#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1

    3) double-click the downloaded installation file.

    (4) follow the prompts.  I chose a wireless installation.

Once it is finished, you can type in scan in the search window. Choose and click Windows Fax and scan.

Once you select the printer such as requested by the installation software as seen in the image, click Next.

Use the HP Print Wizard to manage scanning. He wil have been installed by the HP printer installation software. Use the search box in Winfdows 10 to find or use the apps icon everything.

  • G7-2240us Pavilion: after Windows recovery will not turn on.

I had to do a restore on my laptop. After that that he was done and gone through the Setup program. He asked me to go to activation. When I did he told me that the activation code is not good and tells me to enter another code. I don't see the normal Windows sticker that has the number on it. I was reading through some other people had problems and remember one indicating that the activation code was written in the BIOS. Is there a way to do it and if it is there, why would it be bad code? Any help getting my active laptop would be greatly appreciated.

@Tn1redneck: the restore should have automatically read product code that is embedded in the UEFI firmware on the motherboard.  Don't know why he did that.

To find your product code, read the linked thread: find the product - key for Windows 8

    Good luck

  • Windows Defender will not turn on

I am told that Windows Defender has encountered a problem-0x800106ba. Said so to switch and restart, but to no avail. What then?

You are running Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, Norton or McAfee? If you run one of those, she didn't have Defender. It's good, not bad. Not only is there potential conflict, but there is no reason to have both; basically to have something very similar to the built-in Defender, and both running at a time will be your performance level and create the risk of problems that are contrary to the other.
