  I bought 3521 Dell Inspiron notebook with Intel Pentium Dual Core 2127U with HD VGA, Ivy Bridge, Intel HM76 Express, 4 GB of RAM DDR3, 500 GB of HDD, Intel® HD graphics last week.

  It was pre-installed Ubuntu 12.04 oem on it and works perfectly. However, as the person who will use it has used to Win XP and Win 7 I think installing Linux Mint would be a better choice for her and I did.   The version of Ubuntu, delivered with your laptop is probably already set up with the battery on the right. Otherwise, there is no reason why Mint would not work while Ubuntu would.

  Another option is to use the latest version of Linux Mint (with cinnamon 2.0 which is a huge improvement).

  Hi, I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 7559 for school, my first laptop ever. It took me about 6 months to finally decide on a laptop, and I am very happy with it... it's beautiful. But I had two problems with the display. First of all, there is a slight yellow discoloration on half right, not a big problem, just my OCD, probably just a backlight bleed or something. But the big problem is that the brightness of the screen flashes constantly. I can only really noticed on the lowest brightness, but I use those so it's a problem. I've tried EVERYTHING. I can't say if it sparkles in the bist of screen or the lcd screen of the bios, but I have disabled the NVidia intel HD graphics drivers and and no matter what I do, it still flashes. This makes me think that it is a hardware problem. If someone has an idea, I would really appreciate it. Do I have to send in for repair, or simply wait a little I read online somewhere that the lcd backlighting should "settle" so he can stop the blinking with takes a decent amount of screen time. Sorry for the long post, but this is my first pc, and I'm a bit picky about the function of my things. Thank you.

Now if any of you are assuming that oh so what just cuz the graphics driver is not up to this day he should at least perform normally not act as sumthings broken or overheated... .well not it not anyho is the problem always sumtimes asks me to check my catalyst (he does not do anything when I click it) but that's all it works fine another tht can and I'm not sure if this is related to the graphics or disc bt sumtimes it turns off automatically and selects on some im do (especially on firefox) also tht problem was on my first computer laptop bt it was very common
  This brings us the third disk problem... the system is great other then all of these problem bt sumtimes I noticed it starts hanging in the boot and the reason behind it is I noticed that on my task manager, the disk will 100% use mainly cuz of system and antivirus loaded thereon im bt guessin' meadow is a windows problem 8 I don't really know

  I just tried this and IT WORKED! I don't know how much luck you'll have, but try the Fn key and pressing the up and down arrows while your computer starts. It worked for me. For my Inspiron 1420, I adjusted the brightness, while he was when the screen went black and the words "Microsoft Corporation" above and the Green loading bar going across the screen.
