My fan on the desktop is constantly noisy

How can I stop it?

Fan housing or cpu fan?

-With case fans, sometimes of the main, or similar fan power, can fall into the path of the blades

and make the noise.

If it is due to a wrong direction, you need a new fan.

CPU fans can be quite noisy at full speed. If it is the cpu fan. It is likely to hit max speed due to the cpu running more hot as before, or if the computer is new or recent, fan speed profile may have a curve too little, which can translate into the speed of the fan bike up and down frequently if the cpu is often at full load.

-This can be solved with software that allows you to establish a new fan so speed curve

the fan runs a bit faster from the start.

Your machine may already have a program that allows you to set the fan speed.

-Even with a stiffer fan speed curve, a large number of cpu coolers are just loud and clear to the speed.

Good aftermarket coolers are quieter and keep the cpu cooler, but require expertise for installation.

-If the machine is not new it may need just dust, cleaned the filters of case fan and

CPU cooler radiator fins.

A can of compressed air can be used on the fins of the cpu cooler, but care must ensure not to blow

dust in the RAM or slots for graphics cards (better just to remove the RAM and graphics if the machine an and after having cleaned the cpu cooler, also clean the slots before replacing the RAM and card).

-A small brush can also be used, but usually requires removal of the fan for the CPU cooler

to clean the fins properly. If there is a graphics card, it is easier to clean if you remove it from the machine.

    Hello

If the operating temperature of the machine goes upward, so that the cooling fan turns on.
Many parts for example produce a lot of heat from the graphics card.
In addition the CPU temperature increases if many processes are running in the context of the operating system or if you are working with programs (i.e. playing games).
If you have a laptop computer with a processor that is hot much faster one and then another, it must be cooled more often.
You can believe me :) It's not a fault!

If you wish, you can try changing the cooling method parameter in Toshiba power saver utility.

  • Desktop HPE-210y noisy CPU fan

I bought my house in 2009.  In recent months, there was a buzz in the chassis.  I thought it was a hard drive failed, so I replaced it, but the noise continued.  In fact, it's the CPU fan.  I cleaned the dust off everything inside, including under the fan heatsink.  The noise continues.  Should I replace it?  It seems to be fixed on the heat underneath sink.  If I do not need to replace it, how to find the right part? When I enter my serial number in the search of part of HP, it lists 30 components. It is said the cooling fan system is 5188-3722 and says that it can be ordered from HP.  It also lists the "heatsink for AMD", 575691-001. It then lists on the fan itself, the STROKE part number.  In another search using a BOM component, I see "Cooler STROKE AMD 125W PCB AVCFAN", Assembly p/n 466715-001.  What exactly should I order? Once I find, I can replace it myself or I have to find someone to do it?  (I replaced the memory and hard drives). Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are looking to replace your radiator and fan system on your desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE-210y PC. The heat sink is the heatsink and fan assembled between them then (5188-3722) system fan is the fan on the rear part of the housing. According to the noise is coming from will depend on who you are replacing. The system fan is NOT the fan on the heatsink.

I do not think that you should really have a problem replacing the heat sink, just make sure you clean and replace the thermal grease while you're there.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • How can I stop my icons on the desktop of reshreshing constantly?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ5300F with windows 7.  The desktop icons began to refresh every minute.  How can I stop this?

I have never so ranked.  I down loaded another stripper 'malware' (called Malware... something, something...) There is no dust does not collect on the fans, had repaired and installed the new hard drive and put in level to windows7

About 6 weeks ago. I bought the PC in February 2007.

Yes, a CPU fan can be replaced very easily and inexpensive. If it's a bad sensor on the motherboard, it is another matter. Probably the only solution would seek in the BIOS for an option to turn off the analysis.

  • Very noisy fan on the back...

Most recently, it happened. I backed up my computer in my apartment at College. I recently installed a GeForce4 TI 4200 to replace my GeForce2 MX (I don't know if this is related to the problem, it is more likely is not, but it seemed to have started at around the same time). In any case, when I turn on the computer, it starts normally and goes to windows XP. 30 seconds after the start of XP, the fan at the back of the Tower (in the middle of the back, not the top one) starts making this loud snap. It seems to make stronger and stronger every day, or it's maybe just me. After a few minutes, the noise starts to decline slowly until the fan was again quiet. Usually, I stick a thin and in object to see if it still turns, and it is =)

    Why is this happening?

That looks like a dying fan.  Especially since the noisest on start up. As soon as you can change

    Hello

I use Ark Linux 2008.1 with KDE 3.5.9. When I first bought this rocket, I bought it for Linux support. It worked quite well with the Auto-Detect USB Mode. However, it displays more than on my desktop; in fact, the "rocket" doesn't seem to know that it is connected to a computer. Fresh, it allows me to run as if it was not connected to the computer. I tried by him plugging MSC mode and MTP mode (I understand that MSC is recommended for Linux?). In addition, it appears on the desktop or in my file/etc/fstab. Moreover, when I do a dmesg from a terminal, it does not seem to show a connected player, that I find it strange because every MP3 player that I have connected to any Linux distribution is always presented as a flash flash drive or MP3 player.

I recently discovered on the new 1.01.15 firmware and I would like to be able to upgrade because I'm a BIG fan of Ogg Vorbis and I already ripped all my CDs to Ogg Vorbis format, but I can't do that unless I can get it to recognize that it is connected to the computer.

I did some tests on my computer and discovered that it was not load the USB drivers. To manually do a ' modprobe echi_hcd & modprobe uhci_hcd' solved the problem.

  • Cannot change the font color on the desktop icons

I am running windows vista. I can't change the font as in windows xp. No matter if the background is dark or the police is always black... Help!

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in Microsoft Answers.

    I apologise for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the font color of desktop.

Because desktop wallpaper images have different colors, it is easy for the colors of unreadable fonts if they are on top of the same color in a background image to display. For example, a black font on top a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The desktop icon fonts are dynamic and show white on dark background and change in white with a shadow effect black on a light background.

In previous versions of Windows, it did not matter what color you chose to fund policies, some would still make invisible because of the background color of a desktop wallpaper. The user was constantly moving icons around the desktop computer to another colorful area where the police could be read. This was the source of a large number of complaints from users asking for a policy that was still visible, regardless of the color that was behind the police.

However, you can change the theme and see if that helps:

They don't reorganize until my computer is restarted in an update or stop. Ah. Although the noise of the rest of your post, however, it seems that your computer reorganize automatically verified. Mine does not work. Should I check it, restart, reorganize, uncheck the create system restore restore, point?

NO, do not check rearrange. I mentioned it only because you have it set that way.
If you do not, leave it unchecked.
Simply make the icons to reorganize, restore, point and then system restore. See if the icons are still in place this time.

  • Need of the good, the bad and the ugly on the desktop E9150T

For those of you who bought a desktop computer HP E9150T can you please share the pro and con with me?

I've waited long to upgrade my old built generic XP desktop and I'm looking at HP E9150T and the Dell Studio XPS as spare parts.  Although the E9150T has more memory on their graphics card Dell is currently $150 cheaper with hardware quite comperable.  My problem with the Dell Studio XPS is reported that periodically the system overheats causing the fan to kick at such a high SPEED that users say it sounds like an airplane taking off.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be that a customer consumer out there about the E9150T, so I don't know what he expected and wants to carefully weigh my options until I went to bed a lot.

In addition to the problem with the fan, I would like to know anything else, you can share with me regarding the system and support by HP.  Note that I am not a serious gamer and I don't think I have overtax my system with everything I do.  I'm really looking for a system that will meet my needs for a long time.

    Moondoggy69 wrote:

Here's a question a little.  All my previous systems were built generically, but I don't have one of them built myself.  I received answers on other forums who say that it is better to stay generic than buying and a Dell or HP even if it is custom built to specifications as the two in question would be.  So my question is this...  What you give up by buying a unit like these two from Dell or HP?  I've heard stories about parties are of lower quality than what you can buy in a generic way, I've heard of lack of scalability or system being owner and will use only parts provided by themselves and I heard that HP and Dell purchase stripped of motherboards from generics like ASUS and paralyze the bios in them.  My concern with HP or Dell, is that I would get a reliable system of quality with good quality parts.  I have never overclocked one of my existing systems and the only real reason why I never bought a HP is before I could not find a system "off the shelf" that met all my criteria in the way form or version of the operating system installed.  With the e9150t of HP and Dell XPS I get little close to what I have ordered a generic system.  I saw a system similar to the e9150t who had other CPUS in them and they all seem nice and seems quiet but I think I might bother some people if I start the case of cracking and search.  Any idea would be appreciated.

It is best to avoid 1st generation X 58 (high-end) Board of Directors of a big box-manufacturer.

    1. lack of refinement.  This is a good market version a Committee of Asus OEM.  Some early production bugs are resolved with BIOS updated frequently if you have a retail Council.  A Committee of OEM HP can get one or two updates.  There is no ideal Board, but 1st generation tips are still buggy.  BIOS frequently update helps, but does not eliminate the frustration factor if you are affected by the bug.

    2. management of poor fan / thermal with a Committee of OEM.  You can adjust the fan speed and the type of fan (-3 or 4-pin PWM) with an enthusiastic Committee.  A quality Retail Council has better cooling on the circuit of PWM chipset (greater stability to high temperature of case).

    3. limitation of output power from the PSU OEM.  Better nutrition is capable of driving two high range GPU.

    4. no oveclocking ability.  I7 920 D0 entry level should be able to operate at 4.0 GHz with a detail of good advice and a CPU cooler.  It is a huge boost in performance compared to 2.66 GHz stock speed (time of Super Pi 1 M 9 seconds @ 4.0 GHz vs 16 seconds @ 2 .66GHz).

    5 pre-installed crapware.

    6. no choice of OS.  Vista is dead.  The future is W7 SP1 (2nd quarter 2010) If you must have the latest OS.  I prefer Windows XP Pro 32 or 64-bit.  It is widely compatible with programs in May because of his age.  It is significantly faster than Vista or W7.  He joined no digital rights management.

    7. poor implementation of the Portable Media Drive.  It is a USB 2.0 removable drive, whose speed is capped at USB 2.0 real world of 23 MB/s speed.  USB 2.0 is a technology for ten years.  A high-end removable player should be based on the eSATA, allowing you to transfer data at the speed of the hard drive (currently 60 MB/s to 110 MB/s).  It's 3 x the speed of USB 2.0.

8 questionable clientele with the manufacturer of big box (work with a monkey phone level 1st reading of the guide by script).  A local custom Builder should know that the PC inside and out and give advice on the future upgrade.

    9. lower case ventilation.  A good custom case (Antec 300) has four 120mm fans and a 140mm fan.  If you set the speed of the fan on the motherboard at 1200 rpm, the platform will be whisper quiet even at full load.  There is a fan directly in front of the hard drive to maintain external work under 40 ° C in the warmest room.

There is always something new and better each month in the calculation of the PC.  You can assemble the most stable and oriented platform value based on knowledge today.  These large PC were designed months ago.

It is difficult to compete with the PC to large areas in the range of $500 of overtime because of the fixed cost of work.  The big boys can buy components cheap with a huge volume discount.

Once you break the barrier of $1,000, then the advantage swings to the custom test.  The big leagues at the price of these platforms with extra fat.  HP can still make $ on a platform i 920 even with a discount of $400 - $500 off the price of the web.  Most of the custom builders will not charge you additional labor for an expensive drilling rig (unless you specify the cooling water).  As a result, thi $300 "discount" can be used to buy a best MB, PSU, HDD and GPU.  Also note that all the components of quality PC come with 3 year warranty frm.  This is much longer than the standard 1 year at HP.

You never have to deal with a custom platform.  You want a disk Western Digital Carvia Black 7200 RPM 640GO/32 MB cache?  No problem.  You want an overclockee platform with no more noise 30dBA @ 100% CPU load (inaudible in a silent room)?  No problem.  Try this with DELL, HP or any manufacturer of big box.

Personally, I would not spend $ on an i7 920 drilling rig.  Unless you are a pro video editor or a super - duper Hard Core than Gamer, a custom bicoeur overclockee Intel platform would be my 1st choice.  For about $600, you get a 4.0 GHz overclocked CPU that could calculate the number Pi to the digits of 1 M in 13 seconds.  A stock HP 920 i7 handles this task in 17 seconds.

Put the $ saved in a savings account.  Expect that your 4.0 GHz dual core CPU becomes the bottleneck before you upgrade the MB, CPU and RAM (maybe 3-4 years).  When you do that, you'll probably looking at a 6-8 CPU core.  Scalability a rig is a fool's game.  Buy only what you need today.  Go with eSATA if you need external storage.  USB 2.0 is only suitable for the smallest USB.

  • Recent Places icon appearing on the desktop when ever I go to recent locations in the Favorites

When ever I go to recent locations in the Favorites page to clean my memory this recent locations icon appears on the desktop WITHOUT option to right click and delete OR drag it to the trash

I found a tutorial on the web that provides a way to remove the icon
1.right - click recent locations in the field of Favorites tab in Explorer.
    2. click on "send to", and then select Desktop
This will automatically replace the existing icon and replace it with a DESKTOP SHORTCUT
    3. simply delete the shortcut

But this issue should be fixed in next update, or maybe it is set in point 8.1 of Windows because it's REALLY BORING to this procedure whenever you clear recent locations

Thank you very much! To solve my problem... As you have said, I hope there will be an update so that we do not have to constantly...

    Much appreciated, Cheers

  • The computer starts very noisy until Windows starts

Starting the PC with new GPU Quadro - YouTube

Watch the video. As the computer starts, it becomes very noisy. I thought it was the GPU as a first step, but it doesn't seem to matter which GPU is installed. This has happened for a while now because I have built this PC a few weeks ago. It was very quiet at first. Could not yet say that it was on. And now this terrible noise that I can't explain.

I removed a GPU, then the other. I guess it's the motherboard or a fan making the noise - I can't imagine moving parts on the motherboard that could make that noise. Anyway, once Windows has fully booted most of the noise dies down with the exception of a little rattle noise. But not as quiet as it once was.

I posted on forums of PNY and NVidia on this, but I don't expect much response because it is looking as if it was not GPU bound at all. I'll try ASUS then

    core i7 - 4930 K 6 3.4 GHz processor

    ASUS P9X79 - E WS motherboard

64 GB of Corsair Dominator RAM

ASUS Direct CU II OC / 3 GB GeForce GTX780

    PNY Quadro K4200

Intel 530 OS SSD series engine

Good news! It was one of the case fans. Interference with a cable or on the side of the cover. Of course, the less accessible fan, but I had
