My files are missing

I recently discovered in "Accounts" that I can specify a different directory for my e-mail address. The problem with this new directory had no records inside. So I changed what I thought, it was the old directory. I had not recorded, but it seems to me that it is C:/users/daveh_000/AppData/Roaming. Apparently not. So I tried C:/users/daveh_000/AppData/Local.

Any of these give my my files (and messages contained in it).

So, where are my messages?

I had this problem already six months ago, when I had all of my messages captured under my e-mail instead of "local" address I've never found those. So, what is here represents six months of work. It is important.

Ok. I had to descend through the mail/local folders. Who got it! Thank you!

  • Satellite A100: some files are missing when copying DVD on the desktop

    Hello

Suppose I have 1000 files on a DVD.
I drag all these files in the desktop, all of a sudden I see this is 920 files.
    If some files are missing.

    What this may be?
There are no errors. I don't think that something is wrong.
I initially thought maybe hidden files are counted in the DVD, but not on the desktop?
    Maybe something on the desktop?

Anyone have any ideas? I tried to put it on 'To see the hidden files' - it's a Toshiba A100.

I just ran a scan antivirus on this file and it let's say 1500 files analyzed.
Haha. Antivirus but probably scanned all etc. desktop.ini and Thumbs.db.
.. And maybe Windows Vista now have those when you want to display the number of files?

  • Whenever I start the system complains that the following files are missing, c:\\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe, igftray.exe and hkcmd.exe.

    Original title: files missing error

Whenever I start the system complains that the following files are missing, c:\\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe, igftray.exe and hkcmd.exe. Everything started after I ran scan and scan deleted some files infected. However, I can use the system. Where and how to download the missing files? Or how the system does not deliver messages?

    Simon

Two of the three files are probably part of the malware infection and not the files infected. The third is probably the same details in this link:

To identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).
    http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig. You will find the three points and they will have a description 'file is missing' against everyone. Your antivirus software has removed the files, but not the startup entries in the registry. All you need to do is delete the entry using Autoruns to eliminate the error messages.

Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

    Hello
Some malware will hide all the icons and shortcuts on your computer. To make your icons visible again, download display on your desktop.

Once downloaded, double-click display and let it run. It removes the attribute hidden on all files and try to restore the icons on the Start Menu to their location.
If you think that your computer is still infected, try following the steps 1 and 2 in this virus/malware removal guide: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide
It contains instructions which will remove the malware more. If you have any questions, just ask me. I hope this helps you.

  • Outlook Express Inbox messages or files are missing.

Yesterday morning, Monday, January 24 when I open my browser to surf on Outlook Express, I discovered that all my messages in Inbox and / pr files are missing. I was given the opportunity to click on in order to replace the most recent data in the box to pop up on the screen: compact down, it seems like. Thinking that assistance, I innocently click on 'Yes', this is the result: all incoming the previiousd and this letter is as gone with the wind (disappeared).

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

    And backup often.

  • XP Pro. Folder Prefetch files are missing

Original title: XP Pro. Folder Prefetch

Tune up utility informs me files are missing in the prefetch folder. Pc restore fix this?

    Hi BALONEYMAN,

See What is the prefetch folder?  (Also valid for XP)

Restore the computer to an earlier time, this does not restore the deleted files.

Try to run the sfc (System File Checker) scan to find and fix missing or corrupt system files.
    a. Click Start, click Run, type cmd and click ok.
    b. at the command prompt, type sfc/scannow and press ENTER.
    c. If you are prompted, enter the Windows XP CD in order to complete the scan.
Note: The version of the service pack on CD must match the version of the service pack installed on the computer.
    d. restart the computer and check the difference.

  • Loading error when you try to load the Halo 2 "files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory.

Original title: load error when you try to load Halo 2

People at Microsoft, I have a problem trying to load Halo 2 on my dv7 Paviliaon with Vista and the 2.8 GB Intel Centrino 2 processor. When I try and load the game, I get and error stating: "the files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory. "It bothered me for several reasons. One: the disc that I use is an original disc out of the box so hsould have no problem. Two: the game has been loaded previously on the same computer without apparent problem at the time. It has been deleted (don't remember why) and when I tried to reinstall, the error came. Three: I did as recommended and updated all programs and drivers, nothing works. So my question is, how do I reinstall Halo 2 and what this problem will arise if I decide to buy and load Halo 3?

Thank you for your time in advance.

  • How can I find which files are missing in my video so that I can burn it to a DVD? Help!

have made a video for my friends moving away party (his tmrw night, I need this burned on a DVD as soon as POSSIBLE!) So the film has mainly pictures, with a few songs mp3 in the background and some wmv files. OK, everything works correctly in Windows Movie Maker, and as soon as I click "publish on a DVD" I get a box saying that it saves and will be reopened in Windows DVD maker. This isn't so. Create DVD opens, I can't open my project, not to mention burn my DVD. I get a msg saying that he cannot locate one or more of my files... Help! How to determine WHICH files are missing so I can get this company to burning? I need this burned as soon as POSSIBLE, please help me!

Are 'all' the original files that you have included in your project
saved on your hard drive? This is important because
Movie Maker does not archive copies of the files... it
just saves the path to the original location. If these
the files are no longer available Movie Maker cannot find
    them.

  • two of my sent files are missing from windows mail, and I am unable to trace it? Please let me know how to find the missing folder

    Thank you

Try searching *.eml and make sure you include hidden files and folders in the search parameters.  See also here for the Organization of store message (www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm).  You should be able to use the browser to go to the directory of sent items under the directory of local records and the actual messages will be located there.  It may be useful to compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/) and make sure that everything in the folder, you saw the value. Current view | Show all messages.

  • All my programs files and personal files are missing

All my program files are missing (menu start - click 'all programs' - and it shows 'empty'... but if I taper type in an .exe application, then right-click and run as administrator, it works.)  In addition, all of my documents and photos disappeared.  I went completely through the computer and they simply went (value years of family photos).  Winundelete tried and it did not, so I guess that they are not simply deleted.  Any help?  I'm really confused.  (for the only system restore restore point before that the problem does not help)

Have you seen evidence that you have been infected by malicious software recently?

In an Explorer window, click on organize, select folder and Search Options. On the view tab, select Show hidden files and folders and apply them.

You can also use the unhide.exe program, which is located towards the end of tis section.
