My HP G61

How to disable automatic shutdown due to overheating in my HP G61 laptop.  My laptop is reaching barely 100 degrees F and he died. Then I try to reboot my laptop and it says have reached 900 degrees F. Although this may be a bad idea, I would like to cut the auto off anyway.    Help, please!

(Sorry for the bad English)

It's not over heating, but I have no idea what wrong with it. even when I put my hands on the labtop to see if its hot, its cold blood fells even. It may just need cleaning or new sink hink.

  • G61 - 420CA: upgrade memory HP G61 - 420 a value to CA?

I have a HP G61 - 420CA (Windows 10) older laptop that is slowing down and in order to further a few years out of it, I replaced the HD with a 250 GB SSD which increases performance a lot. The laptop max RAM is 4 GB of RAM (DDR2), but I have only 3 GB installed. Reload the ram to 4 GB will be no noticeable performance gain? Don't want to waste money if there is little or no gain... especially for the ram, that would be pretty useless for anything else.

    Hello

A little and unnoticeable. With SSD, pagefile will better answer time so if you didn't know where you spend your money, you may want to replace 1 GB 2 GB to 4GB total.

    Kind regards.

  • HP G61 - no post power light is on

    Hello

I read through many post with similar issues but could not find my exact problem.  I don't have a job, but the power led lights up.  The cap lock and num lock lights flash.  I am aware that there is a corresponding code derived ny with the number of flashes.  But my cap lock and num laptop lights DO NOT stop flashing at all.  I stopped counting at 20 as the graphic reference code stops at 6 flashes.  I have done much HARD RESTART without result.

The solution to this question and leads to the root of gold or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Frank

Present the creation of this querry I but to remove all components and re their seat.  While removing the hard drive, I noticed that he was missing a transport screw 'hard drive '.  As soon as the reversal of the laptop upside the missing screw fell the my table.  I have the feeling that this short something on the laptop.  Oddly enough, I read another "g61 no boot" poster on different site and found that someone else had the same problem of screws.  Sounds like something that HP should cover even after the warranty is over.

  • G61 - 320CA: upgrade CPU for laptop PC HP G61 - 320CA

    Hello.

I bought this laptop in 2005 (new)

Product name: HP G61 - 320CA (laptop, laptop)

    Product number: VM345UA #ABC

Microprocessor: of GHz AMD Athlon II Dual-Core processor for notebook PC M300 2.00

Cache of the microprocessor;         1 MB L2 Cache

Motherboard:, DAOOP8MB6DO REV: D (cannot distinguish if they are zeros or letters after DA and P8MB)

also written near the edge 16 "OP8

After a good cleaning, I realized that I have the opportunity to upgrade the processor. The processor is removable.

The installed processor is an AMD Athlon II

Is there by chance, a way to find an upgrade to this processor that would be compatible with the laptop?

Technical support told me that Intel were not capatible to stick with AMD but it coulndn can't tell me which one I could install.

This laptop is no longer under warranty, but it is in perfect condition. I would like to find a faster processor compatible.

Even if abandoned, I know I can find an upgrade on eBay (as any one of my office PCs.)

    Thx a lot

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

    Top of page compatible processor:

    M600 AMD Turion™ X 2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor:, Processor 2. 4 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport speed

They are practically giving these AMD processors because there is simply no demand away. It might be a fun project and if you have already opened it upwards and I saw how to remove and replace the processor at this price, you might as well. There will be an improvement, but don't expect miracles. Let us know if you need help most.

  • HP g61 - 329 ca show power button

I'm working on a HP G61 - 329 out of friends. It has been completely reformatted from the recovery partition. It is currently running windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. The problem seems to be with the power button. the original battery was bad, so it is not an inside right now. If the laptop is left off and unplugged for an hour or less the power button does not always work. I have that is unplug the power and plug it back in or turn the ac plug into the mains and keep pushing the power a few times and it starts later. Once it is running that first time, I can turn it works as I want or leave it off all night, so it is always plugged in it turns just to try first. It only occurs if it is unplugged for a while then reconnected and try to start. When I plug in the ac adapter the little light beside the plug lights up every time. I tried to re-seating the ram and the hard drive, he pulled completely apart, everything seems OK for me on the Board, but I'm not professionally trained. He started to really drive me nuts lol. any suggestions on what could be the problem? or maybe how to fix?

Take a bright flashlight and check the plug on the laptop where the power cord is connected, see if it is damaged in the centering PIN.

  • G61-110SA: upgrade CPU G61-110SA

As a pc engineer, I tried to upgrade my laptop to HP G61 aging wives with a better processor of speck. It was equipped with an Intel pentium T4300 2.1 Ghz CPU P 487 outlet again. I tried to change to a P8600, but the laptop refuses to boot?

I did several updates on laptops (with similar P CPU socket) and they are all worked well. Even the last one I did on a Dell Inspiron is a breeze.

It is the first HP laptop I tried.

Has anyone else had the same problem or can advise please.

    Thank you

Well, the first thing to do is the Manual:

    Manual

See the list of motherboards on page 3-4. Your laptop is a GL40 chipset, which is designed for Dual Pentium and Celeron processors and then the GM45 is for Core 2 Duo. The P8600 not compatible with the GM45 card, but would be a P8700. The GL40 jury is not fully compatible with all the features of a Core 2 Duo.

The dvd player can be put in external usb caddy & they only around $16.

  • Model HP G61 for XP support

Hello. My laptop model is the HP G61 64-bit operating system. I recently bought a SATA HDD - where I would install XP. I read the article on "General Guide to downgrade to XP" and I could not find my model.

So, I want to confirm what service pack XP would work for my model. would be to integrate the sata drivers in the XP cd? And I would appreciate if you could list the drivers and their links where I can download it from.

    Hello:

The portable guide to downgrade XP G60 series model is listed under "moderate" models

CQ20and CQ50, CQ60 CQ70 NEW Presario models and G50, G60 , G70 for HP NEW models also included. Letters t and z respectively are Intel and AMD platforms

You can install any version of XP that you want, but it's better if you have a SP2 installation disc, and you must install the SP3 update to get the latest security and Microsoft support when you are filled with development drivers. Yes, you will need to integrate the drivers because you don't have a setting in the BIOS to disable the native SATA Mode. Or you can load the SATA drivers at the F6 prompt that appears shortly after starting from the Setup disk, using a USB floppy drive
