Hey, lmarie2002. If you notice in the screenshot that you have posted, there is a folder named MARIA-HP. delete this folder. It is a backup of your system and should not be on your E: drive/partition.

Just after I restored my lap top it began to display a low disk space. Since then, I have deleted all possible programs.

at this moment I have 70 MB of free space. Another post on this forum, Bellke, suggests several ways to reclaim space, but I can't always solve this problem. I have 50 GB of free space on drive D and more C runs permanently out of space.

I deleted all my photos, Quicken, all games and related programs to name but a few. I could really use some HELP.

Yep, restart with the OS disc and just follow step by step, simply delete the old partition of hard disk in the installation and just do a quick format of it. Good luck with it. Let me know how it turns out.

Well, this would mean that you have to order the official HP recovery media to restore factory.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit for more than two years already. During these periods so far, whenever my laptop is idle for an hour or two, the keyboard and the touchpad suddenly stops working, without worrying if his operation on battery or AC.

I always ensure that I have an external mouse in order for me to navigate correctly and pull up the screen keyboard to type when this issue arises.

Everything seems to be updated regarding the Windows updates and I even reformatted, but issue persists.

What point particular I feel a harware problem? Maybe a software problem? Or maybe a defective model?

Your prompt response is much appreciated.

  • Pavilion dm1 making has defined using USB Flash drive recovery

I have a Pavilion dm1 for which I tried to create a set of recovery using a USB key.  However, the Recovery Manager starts, I find I can only use discs... but the Pavilion dm1 has NO disk drive and no Center so burn discs! Am I wrong to be completely intrigued by this?  Does anyone have one idea at all, other than to buy an external disk drive that I really don't want to do?  HP will sell me an ONLY ON DISC Set Recovery but once again! It seems absurd that a piece of equipment that has no disk drive will be able to be retrieved using a disc!  I confess to being a little computer illiterate, so maybe I'm missing something.  Any help most graciously accepted.

This utility should be able to create a USB stick recovery provided that the recovery partition is functional (it's more than likely).

    Let me know what happens.

My screen goes black when I start windows 7 on my laptop of Dm1 Hp Paviliom. Also, I have connected my pc to an external monitor via VGA cable, and then I can see the windows operating system in the external monitor. I did a test to start and then I got these results:

    Optimized DST: Software error
Battery test: primary past secondary - has NOT been

    PCI device control: past.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Starting test: past

Does anyone have an idea of this behavior? How can I solve this problem

    Hi @ljuserhpfor ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I appreciate all the information and the results of the tests that you did. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dm1-3025dx Entertainment Notebook PC and the laptop does not start. In my view, that the question is called the RTC battery. (Real TIme Clock).  Here isa document to show you how you can replace that.

If you see things very well on a screen, it might be a bad driver has been installed. You can do a System Restore. System Restore will help if something is automatically updated and wasn't on the laptop.

When running a system restore note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices because they can cause problems.

    Hope it will be useful.

    Thank you.

  • System processor use/Slow high - 4000SD HP Pavilion DM1

    Hi guys,.

I have a HP Pavilion DM1 4000SD, Windows 7 Home Premium, 32 Bit, which is a little more than a year.

The last two weeks, I noticed that the netbook is really slow and freezes a lot. When I look at the CPU usage, I see that it is between 90% and 100%, even if I have no programs open.

My C: drive has 208 GB out of 444 GB left, my drive D: (recovery) has 1.79 GB off 16, 6 GB left and my drive E: (TOOLS HP) has 13.6 MB off 3.95 GB left.

I am up to date with updates of Windows.

I don't have knowledge of General computing, so I hope you can help out me.

    Thank you very much!

    Cheers, Gwen

Your hard drive space has nothing to do with your CPU usage. It is the CPU of your laptop and everything you do on your computer are maxing out. The processor that is in your computer is slow compared to the standards of today, but there still, a computer with a monitor 11 "is not designed to be a power plant, it is designed with portability in mind.

What programs are you running on this issue most of the time? Some programs are more heavy resources than others and can really impose the CPU. If you leave a lot of programs open when you are not using them, they continue to use the CPU in the background. It might even not the case. Sometimes programs are set to auto-start when the computer starts and they are run without you ever touching. We can take care of this however.

First of all, I would recommend that you run through this document from HP on how to improve the performance of the system:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01817290

All the information contained in this document, if very useful and could help you a lot. However, the bulk of this document, regarding your question, is the section "Manage startup programs by preventing programs from bottom of loading".

That should help free up some of your CPU usage. Try it and tell me if things have improved.

    Good luck

    Kyle

  • HP Pavilion DM1: Pavilion DM1 * clean * Win7 install... no COA sticker?

My wife has an HP Pavilion DM1 is a slug running and I want to do a clean install of Win7 without all the bloatware that is come upon her, but realized that this little book is not a Microsoft COA top sticker to do the reinstall.  HP did ship of this machine without an activation code Win7 on it?  If Yes, is there a way I can get the code to make a * clean * install or should I just use the system recovery disk to go back to the factory?  I have a few old machines COA stickers, but did not burn one if I had to.  Any help/info is appreciated.

    You are the very welcome.

The recovery disks should be pre-activated and there should be no need to enter a product key.

But you will need to uninstall the bloatware that will be reinstalled, unless your recovery disks for a reduced recovery.

  • EliteBook 8440p; DM1-3020us: 2x4gb 1600 MHz DDR3L works in Pavilion DM1 but not Elitebook 8440p? But both are supported than 1066 MHz RAM

I have two Elitebook 8440p PCs that both run an Intel i5 520 m (although one of them has a discreet Nvidia NVS 3100 m, while the other does not and use the integrated graphics card Intel).

I also have a Pavilion DM1-3020us with an AMD E-350 APU; It's the only other PC I own which takes SO-DIMM DDR3 modules.

I just bought this Crucial DDR3L 1600 MHz 2x4gb hoping to use it with the 8440p without the graphics from Nvidia:

    http://www.BestBuy.com/site/crucial-2-Pack-4GB-1-6GHz-PC3-12800-DDR3L-so-DIMM-Unbuffered-non-ECC-lap...

However, it causes crashes and BSOD as soon as he tried to start under Win7 64 bit on both 8440 p PCs.  Also when trying to boot Linux Mint 18 I empty a kernel panic, and run Memtest86 + just leads to restarting the PC within seconds.  Yet, I can navigate through the BIOS throughout the day and it will continue to work very well...

But here's where it gets really weird - the RAM works perfectly fine in my laptop DM1 Memtest86 + and Win7 64 bit (I use it as I type this).  What's curious?  Because both the AMD E-350 and the Intel i5 520 m only support up to 1066 MHz RAM!

The only thing I can think is that there is something wacky where RAM is unable to operate at 1066 MHz at 1.5V or is not able to run at 1.5V to all E-350 1.35v support (and 1.5V RAM so that the i5 520 m only supports 1.5V) which itself would be really strange that Micron (which actually manufactured the RAM) States on their website that their 1.35v and 1.5V RAM have actually the same die (a bit like mobile i7s quad vs quad I5S Office) and that both can operate at 1, 5V, implying therefore that the 1.35v product is simply a higher binning:

    https://www.micron.com/~/Media/documents/products/technical-note/DRAM/tn4114_ddr3_1_35v_1_5v_compat...

Crucial live chat support, however, closed several hours for the day, so I thought I would at least make this post in the meantime.

    Hello:

Please see this thread, and the discussion that I posted in this thread... and you'll have your answer.

6550 b has the same chipset as the 8440p.  I posted the link to the site from NewEgg for the memory, you need to buy if you live in the USA/Canada in the discussion that I've referenced to the other person who had the 8440p.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/RAM-memory-modules-that-actually-work-for-HP-EliteBook-8440p/m-p/5570634#M335108

There are several discussions on this issue if you want to find even more.  Everything is solved by specific G.Skill memory I posted.

The extent of why it works in the dm1 and not the 8440p, the chipsets are different.  The Intel chipset in the 8440p doesn't support voltage DDR3L.  Comparison of AMD and Intel chipsets are like comparing apples and oranges.

I also believe that the chipset amd in the dm1 is more recent than the chipset in the 8440p and promotes low-voltage memory.

I have just return from memory and use the gift card on something else.

I doubt that Best Buy has this specific memory.

  • Pavilion DM1: Which is the best Anti Virus for use with HP laptops running Windows 10?

I have a Pavilion DM1 using Windows 10 (64-bit) and currently use AVG and TuneUp.  I already used Vipre with Windows 7, but found it slow things down.  From time to time I scan with Malware Bytes as it picks up issues other programs don't do that, but also seems to slow things down. What is the experience of other users here?

    @Iain1955

I use Malwarebytes but I paid for the Premium version because it has real time protection. "You get 3 licenses."

Every once in a while I have run Combofix. "Free download".

    It searches the deep-rooted virus.
