My laptop fell and does not start

Hello! My compaq presario cq56 bowed down and now won't start. I opened it and checked everything. Hars battery, memory disks. I have replaced everything but nothing. I checked the mem, battery and the drive on my second laptop and it worked. When I connect to the AC, the indicator light is on, but when I push the power button, it does NOTHING. What should I check?

Unfortunately, it will have to be disassembled and inspected if it is does not start due to a fight with gravity.

Warranty does not cover damage inducer owner, even if inadvertently.

You could try to remove the hard drive and then see if the laptop responds to the power button. If the motherboard is OK, the BIOS must meet in showing an error message that says it found no bootable disk (or operating system) found. A fall can make a hard drive unusable.

HP dv7-4177 started having types, wouldn't restart. I tried to test that are inbeded and when I did the stress test he stops and does not restart. I hit the power button and nothing happens. I took the hours of battery sevealr and handed over in but I have nothing seems to help.

Hello Nutn Spec.  I understand that your notebook is currently unable to boot.

What kind of questions you know before performing the stress test?  This will help me identify the cause of the problem.

Have you tried to do a hard reset?  It drains all the residual energy of the laptop and hardware reset forces.  If you haven't tried this before I would suggest trying the following.

    1. Make sure that the laptop is completely turned off.
    2. Remove the battery and AC power.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, three times.
    4. Replace the battery and AC power.
    5. Try to start Notepad.

Let me know the result.  I will keep an eye out for your answer.  Have a great night!

    Hi robestes3,

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

First of all, you can tryLast good known Configuration and check if helps solve the problem.

    Check out the link:

How to start your computer by using last good known Windows XP Configuration

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307852

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

If the above method does not work, then you can try to start in safe mode and check if the problem occurs.

Check out the link for more information on starting your computer in SafeMode below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Step 2:

If you can boot into safe mode without any problem, and then try to perform a clean boot. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If your problem is resolved after the clean boot, and then follow the steps mentioned in the article above to refine the exact source:

In addition, after you resolve the problem, see the section on how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Open my laptop, now it does not start

Hi everyone, the first time poster.

I opened my laptop (touchsmart tm2 1070ca) to attempt to clean the keyboard and now it does not start at the top.  all the LEDs light up, but the caps lock LED flashes.  The fans and hard drive look about 2 seconds before silence, and about 10 seconds later, the laptop beeps loud and then stops.

When I opened upward, the touchpad is detached from the motherboard. I finally get it reconnected, but it turned out to be very difficult.

I tried the Bios recovery suggested on the support site, but it had no effect.

any help would be massively appreciated.  no no not my laptop will really make my life difficult.

I know this is an old thread but since there was no solution, I felt should display what has worked for me, in case someone else has this problem.

This morning my computer refuses to start and the caps lock blinked. I've read elsewhere that a user of a model different from simply removed HP sound CD ROM and re-inserted. My laptop is a HP tm2 Tablet PC, so it doesn't have a removable CD ROM, but I was wondering if another device had become "loose". First, I removed the dongle USB for my mouse and battery and then restarted. That did not help so I forced a stop down (press the power switch.) Then, I opened the background panels and reinstall the RAM (actually happened two sticks to make sure) and removed and re-inserted the HD then restarted again. I don't know which of these factors did the trick, but it worked.

Hope someone finds this useful info.

    Hello PravinDave,

If we get the beep codes and the machine will not move past, then we have hardware problems.

You will need to contact your hardware manufacturer for more information on the beep codes and their meaning.

  • When I started my computer this morning, it ran chkdsk at startup, windows startup it goes immediately to chkdsk, it will be repeated again and again. I can boot into safe mode, but if I try to start windows normally it runs chkdsk and does not start

Windows does not start normally, just run chkdsk again and again

First test the hard drive to make sure it's healthy. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

If the hard drive then passes the physical tests, safe mode:
Start > run > cmd [Enter]
fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This will tell you if the disc is dirty or not. Then always in cmd:

chkntfs /x c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This tells Windows not not to check this drive at startup. Reboot and it should go on the desktop. Once Windows loaded, run cmd and:

Chkdsk /f /r c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

CHKDSK will run through all 5 steps. After that it's over, always in cmd:

fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

to see that the dirty bit is not set on this drive.

  • Laptop computer G60 does not start

I'm having some trouble starting by G60 Notebook.  The system runs Windows 7, but since it does not start I don't know if the system is a 32-bit or a 64-bit.  What seems to be the case, it's that he's trying to start and simply itself turns off.  For this, this little trick after having tried to boot Windows "normally".   I ran the diagnostic tests for memory and disk and both indicate that memory and disk are in agreement.

I now get a cannot find the BOOTMGR.  I tried to recover the BOOTMGR using the recovery partiion, but what I will meet with the first issue of the computer itself put it off before it can perform the restore.  I do not have the disks for the OS, so if it's the secret I have to order a set.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi @LarryN

Thank you for your request, I will do my best to help you.

I understand when you try to start Windows normally, it turns off automatically.  You were able to test the hard drive and memory and all the two passed.

Here is a link to an overheating and Auto Shutdown Troubleshooting questions that can help.

Here's another if this isn't the issue. Troubleshooting of Error Messages on a Blue Screen may occur at the start or start

You can also try booting in safe mode. Enter SafeMode (Windows 7)

    Select repair your computer.

If the problem still persists repeat the process above, but select Safe mode with command prompt and follow the instructions to open the system recovery options.

    Again choose command line

Enter the following information to the /rebuildbcd bootrec command prompt and press ENTER.

Once this completed successfully try to start Windows normally.

  • Laptop HP Pavilion 2320DX g4: computer hp laptop pavilion g4 does not start successfully after update and return to windows 8.1

Hi, I have recently updated my laptop to Windows 10. He had so many problems and I didn't like it at all, so I just returned my laptop to Windows 8.1.  Since then, my laptop does not correctly every time, and the fan immediately starts to work as well. I can start my pc and connect to my home screen each time.  If the tile is moving or light up when I move my cursor, then I know that I can use my laptop for a little while. It can freeze after getting out a good program. Other times when I start my laptop, everything is dead except for logging on my screen. My Windows key on the keyboard does not work most of the time.  If the screen does not respond the first time I turn, as described above, I can't absolutely nothing on my pc. I can't access the search bar by moving the cursor to top right, I can't open the tiles, I can't spend in desktop mode, etc.  Front I upgraded to Windows 10 and downgraded to 8.1 all worked perfectly, because I've updated from 8.0 to 8.1 Windows almost 2 years.  I have a defective battery. in fact I can only use my laptop if it is plugged. My fan is constantly going, but I don't know if it's my loss of battery or what's wrong with my pc now.  I have described my problem in the Microsoft community forum but have had little response that was not helpful. I was told to go to the command prompt and put in DISM: scan now (which also contained letters more than that, but I do not remember all). I followed the instructions and for 2 days, my pc seems to do better. Then he returned to this problem again. I hope you can help me.  If you have additional questions, post here or please email me at [removed personal information]. Thank you!

    @DWESTDEWITT,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forum.  What you can do at this point that there are several updates released by microsoft and hardware vendors is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If this fails to solve the problem.  The only option will be to restore the operating system to the previous, until HP gets the drivers so that they can release them on the support page for your laptop for Windows 10.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • MacBook Pro glued on the gray screen and does not start. Help, please!

    Hello

My 13 "MacBook Pro (mid-2009), running Snow leopard (10.6.8), has finally given up and won't start.

I tried to boot into SafeMode several times, but the loading bar does not move and the laptop just completely stops.

I also tried to boot in single user mode with the command fsck - fy, but this results in the following:

    disk 0 s 2: I / 0 error

    Invalid node structure

    (4,35296)

    * The Macintosh HD volume could not be completely checked.

    / dev/rdiskOs2 (hfs)

    You leave with signal 8

I guess that means that there is something wrong with the hard disk and some corrupt files?

My problem is that I have no time machine backups, so I would like to know if it is possible to do something to get to the top and running.

That, I do not have an external drive with my main important files and photos on a failure, so is it possible to completely erase the computer so I can sell it at least?

I really need help on what I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure it out!

I'm not all techniques with regard to the material. I tried doing research and have seen things, which suggests that I should reinstall the OS X, this would imply in the disks provided with the laptop when the power?

    Any advice greatly appreciated!

Boot from the DVD and run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the hard disk using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS extended (journaled), then click on the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the operating system.

When you restart, use Setup Wizard to restore your data.

  • Yoga 2 repetitive pro reboot and does not start

Turned on my laptop this morning. Worked well. Went to try to use my printer to scan something to my laptop. Printer turned on and came back to my laptop does not. It is just to turn on and off again. The Start button / stop and the keyboard backlight flash just turn off repeatedly.

Tried searching forums for a solution. Here's what I've tried so far:

Laptop not connected to the power source

    Battery disconnected

    Disconnected battery CMOS (CR2016)

Laptop plugged in and still get the same problem of restart

Ive tried holding down the power button / stop and small button above does not. I also tried holding on to the power supply with battery disconnected and battery connected CMOS. Always the same question: repetitive restart with no boot. Printer has been turned off during the whole process of troubleshooting but worked well with wifes laptop after that mine pooped the bed.

Anyone got a solution or an idea?

FYI - took it to a Tech Said motherboard needed replaced. $800 or more.
