Disk Defragmenter does not open in Windows 7
Since I started using Norton, Disk Defragmenter does not work and my computer is very slow. How can I me Defrag to work and to speed up my computer?
There are 2 issues here:
1 Defragmenter does not
2 PC is slow.If the disk is very fragmented, it can cause the PC to run poorly, so let's handle defrag first and then we can look at the additional steps to speed it up.
There are several reasons why the built-in Defragmenter may not work correctly:
1. the disk is too full (you need at least 15% free space, sometimes 20%). Solution: Delete files unnecessary and programs until you have more than 20% free space.
2. the disc is damaged and must be repaired. Solution:
a. open "My computer" and right-click on the drive that you want to disable frag.
b. Select 'Properties' and click on 'tools '.
c. Select "Check now" to check the drive for errors.
d. Select the two options and click on 'start '.(This can take time and can restart the PC so that it can do the check at boot time. Be patient and let it complete).
3. There may be malware on the PC
Solution - run the Antivrus, then Antispyware scans (can take a long time if ever made. Be patient):
a. analysis of the entire system with the anti-virus & manage everything that exists;
b. analysis of the entire system with Anti-Spyware & manage everything that exists;4. Disk Defragmenter can be altered, needing a system restore to fix it. Solution:
a. start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore (click here to open);
b. Select a good restore point before you start having problems with Disk Defragmenter.
c. start the restore process and let an end (descriptive name of something restore operation as "Repair Defrag").5. There are other programs that run the Defragmenter interruption integrated. Solution:
a. close all running programs.
b. If you think there may be some programs that run in the background.
c. press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and
d. Select "start Task Manager".
e. under the 'Applications' tab, you will find a list of all running applications - you can close these by selecting "end task."6. If still no luck, try disabling the screen saver when you run Disk Defrag (you should very well leave the system only when running the built-in defragmentation utility).
7. If still no go, try to run the defragmenter in Mode without failure. If she runs, something interferes with it in standard mode and stalking the interference may not be easy. Note: Some versions of Windows 7 disables the ability to run the Defragmenter built-in in safe mode. If disabled, it will say when you try to start it in safe mode.
8. Disk Defragmenter may no longer be on the system or is damaged while it needs a re - install. Solution: Reinstall the built-in function.
There are several ways to re - install the built-in Defragmenter:
A:
a. open the menu 'start '.
b. type '% Windir%\Inf' in the 'Search' box and press 'Enter '.
c. in the window that opens, find the file named "dfrg.inf.
d. right-click on "dfrg.inf" and "install".B:
a. go into "start > run" on your computer.
b. Type "rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132% windir%\inf\dfrg.inf" and press "Enter."
3. click 'OK' to make the program automatically reinstall itself.C:
a. go to start > all programs > Accessories > right click on command prompt > select 'run as administrator '.
b. at the command prompt, type "regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll" and press "enter."
c. type 'regsvr32 dfrgui.dll' and press 'Enter '. This will reinstall the missing Defragmenter files. Most of the problems will be resolved in #6 above, but if not and if your windows installation is otherwise works well, consider downloading a free trial of a commercial defragmentation tool rather than the drastic measures to restore the frame-s functionality.
Third-party programs are more robust and many work in the background, so you can use your PC during defragmentation.
Most third party programs offer a free, fully functional trial (better ones are for 30 days). Install one of them allows you to disable built-in and if you decide to uninstall, removal will replace the built-in function, repaired several times in the process: it's worth a try...9 here is a recent Top 10 comments side-by-side comparison of the best available defragmentation programs:

a. Select a program and install it. The best defrag programs are automatic and the top placers in the foregoing analysis can defragment everything using the PC. Place it at the top of the page was the only defragmentation program preventing fragmentation (see comment).
b, readers to defragment your drive. The PC should improve speed, as the above steps are performed. Here are additional steps to optimize PC for speed:
10. make sure that your PC has as much memory (RAM) as possible.
Solution - Know how much RAM your PC:
a. go to start > right click on 'Computer' > properties
b. this list the type of processor and speed and how much RAM is installed, and what version of windows is running and the Service Pack. Sign it, because it may be necessary later.
c. search your PC name and model # followed by 'memory' and see what is listed. This tells you what type of memory you need and how many "Sticks" your PC will accept.
d. get the maximum amount of memory your computer can contain and install it. Search for "how to install memory on one (your model name and #)" to find videos on how to do this if necessary.11. make sure that the registry is clean.
Solution: Get and run a good registry cleaner.
a. check to see if there is a registry cleaner already in the system;
b. otherwise, download CCleaner here: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
c. run the registry cleaner until he finds and corrects any errors.Note: Be careful with registry cleaners as there are many autour with new ones coming all the time with some would have been causing more damage than they help. Use a proven reliability.
CCleaner is one of the originals and very safe.
Once all this is done, your PC will be in the best possible shape.
Good luck and let us know if you have any questions (ask your questions and I will then answer best I can).

PS: If after all that, the PC is still not doing well, repair may involve repairing the windows installation and possibly re - install windows itself. These aren't simple solutions. If so, indicate if and guidelines can be provided.

Adobe AIR - creates disk image does not open
Hi, I am trying to create a dmg file and does not open the image file. I work on a Mac and it's not the first time that I do this.
The error message when I open the disk image is "Suite of disk image can not be opened" and the reason "not recognized".
It's really weird, because it used to work and now for some reason any ceased. First I thought that it could be, because I compiled with the new SDK 4.0, but then I tested it with older SDK as 3.5, 3.8 and 3.9 and the problem persists. Old projects that worked fine also are no more building disk images.
My system was 10.8 and I thought that the problem could disappear if I install the new Mavs, but after upgrading the problem is still there.
Repair disk permissions and the file did not help also.
Anyone has any idea what it could be? I'm really at the end of my knowledge.
Thank you very much

access to the "My Documents" folder on the HARD disk that does not start
Recently, I got 2 hard drives put in place into a monster of table (SATA) on me. I had an IDE hdd hooked that I had just never deleted. My "mirrored array' failed me so I ended up replacing my MB & CPU and started from scratch. The IDE hard disk has some very relevant info, I need to recover. I can get to basic files in there, but my most important stuff is in my folder 'My Documents' but as far as I can get is to open "Documents & settings". Another thing I try to open fails. I made a password but have no way to enter (at least AFAIK), I would appreciate greatly any help on this problem. Thank you

Additional HARD disk, PC does not start.
I'm under a Dimension 9200 on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.
I just bought a 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Green Power drive. I plugged on one of the locations additional sata on the motherboard and pc market. I have an IDE installed RAID card normally shows directly after the dell logo, and detects my old three disks IDE and their config raid which is fine.
Reference Dell also provided me with two drives of 320 GB in a raid configuration, using my C drive, which he would then normally detect. However, when the new drive is connected it just displays an error message, something can not find bios. I have not disconnected or changed their cables somehow.
When I disconnect the new drive again, the pc boots fine.
I tried to enter in the configuration
with the drive connected to change the boot sequence, but it won't let me enter the configuration. I can enter the installer without a connection, and I assured my normal C drive is the first boot drive, but it still does not work. I'm not trying to add it to one of the raid configs current sport im, I want just that he's a player, I thought that it would be virtually plug-in, turn on, format and leave, but no luck!
Someone made me what I am doing wrong?

Disk defragmentation does not open. Command prompt opens and closes in a fraction of a second
I've upgraded to windows 7 ultimate x 86 a few months on my Toshiba. Form below-
I ran Disk Defrag when it was Vista Home Basic before the upgrade. 2 days, I just cleaned my hard disk of 8 GB of free space to the 37 GB is now. I wanted to revive Disk Defrag. Don't ask why or say that I owe.The point is, I can't even open the program. Is nothing in Task Scheduler. I had a 30 day trial Norton after my update for win 7. I noticed a lot of people blame anti virus for a reason, so I thought it should be mentioned. This is what happens when I run Defrag.exe from the C:\Windows\System32 folder. (Note: the screen command prompt runs command sfc/scannow & found and given nothing wrong)The prompt on the left window disappears quickly able to capture, and it seems important to my problem, I guess. Why in the world can't run the Defrag.exe at all? Any help? I'm positive I want to install a third-party Defrag.I hope that I asked the right way.Thank youMickeyWell, that's the question. I can't access the UI anyway what so ever.
I decided to do a complete reset of the system and re - install Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer. The user interface of defragmentation works perfectly fine now. I guess I'll never know the problem I had, but at least it is fixed :)Rajesh, thank you very much and thank you for your quick responses!Mickey -

As long as these files are not damaged or infected by a virus or malware, there was no damage on the new computer. I think that the files could just be hidden or something like that. Just reply with the results of the steps listed above.
I hope this helps.

I'm guessing a corrupted download. If you have the correct file and you have unpacked it should install without problem on Snow Leopard.

Satellite L50-A-19N - HARD disk controller is not compatible SATA 3
Hello.
I have a model of L50-a-19n satellite.
The hard drive it is HGST Travelstar 5 K 1000 750 GB, SATA 6 Gbps (HTS541075A9E680/0J22412).On Web site of the manufacturer and as Aida64 diagnostic software the hard drive is named SATA-III 600 MB/s.
But when I run the Crystaldiskinfo software or simillar, it is said that the taken and current transfer mode supported SATA/300.
Why is it like that?Is this some sort of software limmitation?
In the Bios, I turned on the performance mode.HARD drive supports SATA 6 Gbit/s, but the portable controller is probably limited to SATA II (3 Gb/s)
If the HARD disk controller does not support SATA III, HARD drive performance will be limited.
