My Qosmio G50 - 129 guard gal overheating, extreme

I bought a Toshiba qosmio g50-129 and I got it for about 9-10 months.

Now, whenever I play a game, it overheats and I get so far behind that he started 3-5 frames per second.

This occurs every 1-2 minutes and lasts 30 to 45 seconds, it makes a lot of noise and makes my computer lag a lot.

Is "broken"?
I always he managed very carefully, never had a virus. I even formatted the C: drive to see if it the problem disappeared, he was gone for about 5 days, I only downloaded world of warcraft.

What ive tried:

Update all drivers.
Close all other applications, all unnecessary processes.
Graphic abseloutely reduction minimum.

It has 512 MB graphic card, nvidia 9600 gmt or smthing.
4 GB of ddr3 1 k mhz RAM memory
2, 66 GHz processor. Intel core 2 duo t9550

Hello

What graphics card drivers did you use?
You should always use the Toshiba graphics card driver since this driver supports protection against overheating!

Last week, I read on the 3rd page of party that this original nVidia graphics card driver has been removed nvidia page because it caused overheating of the GPU
I hope you didn t use the nVidia page graphics driver

Second question;
Do you use the latest BIOS?
If this isn't the case, please update this!

  • Qosmio G50 129: can it be used/accessed by other DLNA products?

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G50-129. I am looking to purchase a DLNA Certified TV but wanted to know if the laptop is compatible DLNA so that I can access the contents of my Qosmio on the TV or if it was all I needed to do the Qosmio "DLNA compatible?

The http://www.dlna.org/digital_living/product_types/#pc_frame site advises the following:
    "Personal computers (PC).
One who has a PC knows that they have powerful network capabilities built-in. Thus, their DLNA Certified potential is determined only by the type of software installed on them.

DLNA Certified PC are able to act as a Digital Media Server (DMS), Digital Media Player (DMP), Digital Media Controller (DMC) or digital media converter (DMR). Most of the PC available today start with be certified as a DMS, since many of us keep most of our digital content on our PC. »

There is also a section of research and correspondence on the site that does not have my model Qosmio. This mean that I can not, or is there a solution/work around for this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    REkha

As far as I know that any PC with a NIC (Ethernet or Wi - Fi) can become a DLNA device by installing DLNA software. In January 2010 the DLNA started a software certification program.

As far as I know Toshiba will offer the new application in the future and make it more comfortable to use DLNA. Must be an interface for Windows Media Player.

For now, you can try to use the standard features of Windows 7 which should be available in Windows media player (supplied with Windows 7) 12.
To be honest I don't have any other DLNA device and can not test it, but very quickly I want to buy DLNA player Blu - ray with integrated WLAN and want to have access to my PC and watch movies on TV but portable saved on HARD drive.

So look for some info on the DLNA on Windows media player 12 service and see how it works.

Please be so kind and inform us of this.

  • Qosmio G50-129 - can I have it with Blu - ray?

I was looking for a laptop for a few weeks now and I fell on the Toshiba Qosmio G50-129. I had already seen the X 300 range, which had the quad processor, I prefer, but I did not like the colors of this laptop "boy racer".

I thought that the G50 was a reasonable compromise - the high-end core 2 duo processor 800 GB of disk space and lots of features. Only two issues I have with this machine is the 32-bit version of Vista (why don't they provide 64-bit - I'll never understand this) and the lack of Blu - ray.

Now, I'm not a fanatic of DVD or something else that I appreciate that the Blu - ray is the format that is there to stay. To this end, I have a small collection of DVD Blu - ray that I can play on my PS3 and my DVD Blu - ray player hooked up to my surround sound system.

Can someone please explain to me why Toshiba produced this stunning notebook G50 - 129, but for A £1 499 it does not include a Blu - ray player? Are they crazy? I don't like that they have lost the race format by backing the wrong horse, I expect to get the Blu - ray on A £1. 5K laptop!

Unfortunately, Toshiba you lost my business as a result of this omission. Too bad you didn't just accept that Blu - ray is here to stay and accept him as most of the other manufacturers.

    Hello

As you know different notebooks from different manufacturers have different material combination.
Is that Qosmio G50 doesn't support Blu - Ray player, but this machine has other benefits.

It was equipped with the Toshiba Quad Core HD processor, that can turn ordinary DVDs in HD quality.
So you can play DVDs using the internal player and you will get an almost the same quality as a Bluray drive.
In this case you don't need to buy a new BluRay drive, but you can watch the DVD movies in HD quality!

However, I searched here in the forum for similar and found issues these topics:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=39557
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=139719

It might be interesting for you.

Finally, I must say that I would not buy a laptop just because of the Blu - Ray player.
For me it s more interesting a CPU, graphics card, RAM, because these are the parts that are needed for games, multimedia, etc.
Of course, the blue ray player would be a nice extra but I have a PS3 too and it was already fitted blue ray player

If this player is not really necessary for me

    Welcome them

  • Qosmio G50-129 no sound with HDMI connection

    Hello.

I have a Quosmio G50-129. Recently, I tried plugging it into my Sony Bravia LCD TV via the HDMI connection.
I have video output but there is no sound on the TV.

I tried to set the HDMI as audio device as default and the sound level meter in the sound properties panel appears to show activity, but nothing comes out.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

I m not Qosmio G50 owner, I only have the small F50, but it must be identical to yours I think. So first of all, I must say that I never had a problem with the HDMI connection. Everything has worked perfectly since I used the HDMI connection, the first time

In any case, if you connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the HDMI connection, connect the cable first. After this power on the TV and select the HDMI input right channel. Then go on your laptop and if you press FN + F5, you can change between the different options.

Normally the HDMI output is automatically set as the default audio device, not to follow these workarounds with good screenshots:

  • Qosmio G50-129 PQG55E - 64-Bit Windows 7 updated - update the BIOS?

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G50 that I've upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. My BIOS is unupdated for 6 months when I bought the machine.

I went to update the BIOS, just to keep things updated, so I went through the pilot Online Assistant:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

And all information entered above, it provides:

    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/BIOS-20090312131718.zip

After having unpacked and P0060v210.exe running, he extracted, and then said:

"The [error] BIOS update is not taken in charge of operating system. No support for operating system or service pack is installed. "(Word to all my friends of Googling!).

Toshiba has an update of the BIOS for the Qosmio G50 is supported on Windows 7? Specifically for the 64-bit? They need to fix this glitch which orders to download this file when it is not clearly supported by Windows 7.

Also, I tried to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2 and it worked fine - but I was nervous about going through the update if it didn't initially support Windows 7, so I do not continue to the next prompt. Is it safe to do? Has anyone else in this situation he does without problems? I read the BIOS updates can go horribly wrong, if not careful, so I hesitate to update the BIOS by performing the update in compatibility mode when it doesn't support Windows 7 on its own!

Thanks in advance for any help and Merry Christmas.

    Hello

    I agree with bljuzga_1.
Because the BIOS is independent, it shouldn't be a problem with the update using Win 7 OS.
The error must be linked to your installed Win 7 OS and not the BIOS bug.

It would also be possible that your value added package for Win 7 is not installed correctly.
This package contains the TOSHIBA components common driver which is an essential component of the Windows operating system. He will have to make the other original programming TOSHIBA works correctly.

  • Qosmio G50-129 - cannot run Windows 7 SP1 on big HDD (1 TB)

    Hello

I have a G50-129. I replaced the drive HARD primary with a 1 TB unit that works very well. Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 installed and all drivers are installed, too, including Robson drivers include the Intel Matrix Manager.

I then tried to install Windows SP1 and I get a catastrophic failure. I also tried the Windows Update stand-alone Installer, which fails with the 0xc8000247 error.

I've seen a number of sons, here and elsewhere, who cite drivers SATA Intel as requiring an update. The SATA controller seems to be the ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.

I downloaded the latest version (IATA89ENU.exe, version 12.0.0.49974) and still get the same problem.

Can someone suggest anythying (outside to put the old drive in)?

    Hello

I m not very well if the Intel driver is the problem.
I think that the HARD drive is perhaps the reason for this.

Try checking the HARD drive using the command:
    CHKDSK c:/f/v/r

You must restart to start the audit.

    Then try the command: sfc/scannow

Finally, see this Microsoft document provides a tool for analysis of system update fixes Windows Update errors

  • Qosmio G50 - 129 media jumps randomly

    Hello

I just 129 G50 and unfortunately, he jumps and jutters during playback of the media, films and music. He shoots almost as something running in the background and hiccoughing, but I can't place it?

I tried the Task Manager and Event Viewer, which has not really helped. Is this a Vista thing, or maybe a hardware problem?
    Someone else?

RG # forgot to mention, usually occurs in Media Player and Ableton?

    Hello!

    It is a strange question.
You use the recovery image, or have you installed your portable computer with the Microsoft installation disc?

You have the same problem with the VLC Player?

Perhaps a BIOS might help. Check the Toshiba site for an update.

  • Qosmio G50 PQG55A: NVIDIA driver - update or not

    Hello

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

The short question is, should I update my NVIDIA driver from 175,90 (as shown on the Web from Toshiba site) to the Version: 186.81 WHQL as suggested by the NVIDIA site.

    The long version follows...
My Qosmio G50 (PQG55A-04J01Y), running under Vista 64 Bit, crashes intermittently. It is sometimes good for more than a week earlier, sometimes once or twice a day.

I was quite thorough with virus and malaware controls.

Everything seems to stop, even if the mouse still works.
I have to turn off the PC, sometimes reboot Check Disk runs and corrects errors.

Windows Problem Reports and Solutions comes with the following:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A problem with the NVIDIA graphics driver
NVIDIA Graphics Driver has stopped working properly.
An update of the driver, as appropriate, could prevent this problem does not happen.
There are several ways to find and install the driver updates, but it's best to let Windows do it for you. Try the step below, which describes the process. If it does not produce a driver update that resolves the problem, try the remaining steps in the order shown.

    1. search the optional third-party updates
    2. try to manually update the NVIDIA Graphics Driver
    3. check the NVIDIA Corporation Web site for driver updates
    4. check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for driver updates

If NVIDIA Graphics Driver was preinstalled on your computer, check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for driver updates.

How can I find the manufacturer of my computer?
How to upgrade manually a pilot using a file downloaded?

    1. updates of Windows are perfectly up-to-date.

    2. when I try to update driver I get the message;
+ Windows has determined the software driver for your device is up to date. +
    However...

    3. when I use the NVIDIAs tool to automatically search for updates, I get the following:

    NVIDIA driver downloads
    Product

    NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    Current installed Driver * 175.90*

    Driver was last updated
    Computer laptop version 186
    Version: * 186.81 WHQL *.
    Release date: August 27, 2009

    He said also;

+ The program driver NVIDIA Verde Notebook, this is a reference driver that can be installed on laptops NVIDIA GPU. However, please note that your computer laptop OEM (OEM) provides drivers certified for your mobile specific on their Web site. NVIDIA recommend you check with your OEM laptop on the software updates recommended for your laptop. OEM may not provide technical support for the issues raised by the use of this driver. +

    5. but here on the Toshiba site he says nVidia NB9x Display Driver true display VISTA 64 Bit 18/05/2009 7.15.11.7590 51,35 MB

That is to say, the driver I have already.

So... should I install the latest driver or not?
If not, is there anything else I can do?

Thank you very much for reading all this and thanks in advance for any help.

    See you soon

    Steve

    > Short is, devrais I update my NVIDIA driver from 175,90 (as shown on the Web from Toshiba site) to the Version: 186.81 WHQL as suggested by the NVIDIA site.

Generally, you must use the graphics driver downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.
The graphic card driver from the Toshiba page has been tested and it s certified by Toshiba.

The common graphics driver nVidia is not designed for laptop and that's why these drivers don't support a protection against overheating.
    Driver Toshiba done!

So using the page nVidia graphics card driver can be risky and could overheat your GPU so the use of 3 third-party drivers is always at your own risk!

I have thin you should stay with the driver from the Toshiba page

  • Qosmio G50 - 13R - add second HARD drive

    Hello

I want to upgrade my computer.
    Here are the numbers:

    Product name: Qosmio G50 - 13R
    Product version: PQG55E-05C04RFR
    Product series number: 89063721H

I have space for a second hard drive, but it is empty.
    No caddy, no connector.
But the Intel Rapid Storage detects an empty 4 internal port.

How to check what is the port?

I did some research and found a document on the substantive content of my computer. It says there is a connector on the motherboard for a second hard drive, here are a few references in the document:

CN1920 2nd SATA HDD (20 PIN) interface connector

Is that the motherboard of my computer (see reference above) has the CN1920 connector?
    How verified?

    Greetings.

There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past, the Qosmio G50 is out with support for different hardware specifications and different hardware parts and obviously 2nd HARD drive Bay does not the HARD drive cable/connectors.

The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated controllers serial ATA Host, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 devices SATA (2 x HDD, 1 x ODD, 1 x eSATA).

I searched on the internet a bit and discovered that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
The first HARD drive must be connected to the CN1900 connector SATA (23pin) and the 2nd HARD drive must be connected to the CN1920 (20pin). The STRANGE is connected to CN1910 (13pin)

However, I think that it will not be very easy to update this unit with a 2nd HARD drive all must be dismantled and of course, you need compatible parts for these updates.

  • Qosmio G50 - Windows does not shut down without memory stick inserted

I have a Qosmio G50 running Windows 7. The pc does not stop unless I have my USB stick inserted. Without the USB, I can tell the pc to stop. Without the inserted stick, the pc will say that it stops and remains on the screen closed for 10-15 minutes and then restart.

However, as soon as I put the USB into the USB port, the pc will stop within 2 seconds.

It is not easy to understand the situation and explain why this happens.
Qosmio G50 is not latest model cell phone, so I can't imagine that this strange question comes on the first day.

Something like this can be done with the factory settings. The configuration, preinstalled software, background running applications and processes on your Qosmio OS are not known to us is not easy to help you with this.
Somehow, I think that something running in the background blocks of the system. Unfortunately, I can't say what that would be.

    Check a bit.
By the way: have you noticed the behavior even if you try to use standby or hibernation mode?

  • Update of Qosmio G50-12 q

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G50 - 12 equipped q of the Windows Vista Ultimate operating system.
I asked the Toshiba if it weren't harming pc upgrade this system to Windows 8 and they said that it might be precisely the difficulties is that this pc do not have the necessary drivers.

I wanted to ask if anyone of you have a pc like mine and did also to the Windows 8 upgrade and if he found problems to connect devices such as printer or USB hub or other

    Thank you

    @ valkyrie
Usually, you should not have serious problems to help to win 8, even if the official drivers from Toshiba are not released for this series of portable.

Most of the devices would be recognized by Win 8 automatically because the common drivers are part of the system Win 8.

Of course, it could be possible that you will not be able to use some additional features laptop like multimedia keys or function due to lack of drivers Toshiba keys, but I think that this would not be a big problem to effectively use the laptop.

I also think that you can try to install the drivers Win 8 of which have been released for other Qosmio series. Some drivers should work as well.

Last but not least, you should also consider installing Win 7 as mentioned by Timox.
The point is that Win 7 is similar to Vista, but it of much better than the early Vista operating system.
Win 8 is OK, but it follows completely different design and use.
