My Satellite A30 overheating

my laptop 2 year old cuts without notice, I think that it is overheating
should I clean a filter?
Cannot find manual
where is the filter?

Hello

The dismantling is a delicate procedure. I recommend you test the vacuum procedure. It is very easy and it works correctly.

  • Satellite A30: overheating maybe?

Hello. I had a problem with my satellite SA30-303. When I run certain applications, such as WinDVD Creator and more recently, the online game Lineage 2 and a few others, my pc just stops completely, after an increase of "noise" coming from the ventilation. So I think it's maybe an overheating problem? Unfortunetaly, due to another person, this pc has been used on TWO napkins that were under it, and I think that could have caused this problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Should I open up the pc and clean vents and heatsink? Or do I really have to take it to the store so that they can do something? And how to open the pc to access the fan? Am I supposed to get out the whole half of the pc?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

    Hi Jose,

It is very easy to clean the heatsink on your A30. On the bottom of the adjacent unit at the entrance to two air grids is a small cover attached by two screws 'star '.
Simply remove this cover and the heat sink is more visible.

The heat sink is attached with four screws. Cancel them and the heat sink can be raised as a result. do NOT remove the heat, scatter the dough.

Dust and debris can then be removed.

Re-assemble the heat sink and replace the access cover.

Work done and it made a significant difference to the ventilation of you A30.

  • Satellite A30 overheating problem

I've had my A30 for about 9 months now, he is just starting to give me problems. At least I have put the computer on top of some books (which is very heavy) my A30 overheats and shuts down. It only started happening. Is it just because of the dust build up or do I have a technical problem. If this is the first, where should I go to get my computer cleaned? Any help will be received with recognition of Ed

    Hello

Dust clean usually of the heatsink from the CPU using a domestic vacuum hose in the fan air intake grilles.

Alternatively it is possible to remove the heat sink by removing the small plastic cover (adjacent to the air intake grilles) and then by unscrewing the screws in the sink four hest. The heatsink can then be lifted off and removed debris. Ensure that the heat dispering paste is always in place reassembly of the heat sink.

Please do not forget to p [ower off Notepad first.

  • Satellite A30 stops due to overheating

My Satellite A30 cutout due to overheating.
The cooling fans are free of dust.
    I put the Max-performance cooling.
Is there another reason of overheating?

    Hi David,

Everything that hinders the free movement of air across the processor HEAT SINK cooling will have the effect you describe. The problem is that dust can not be seen by looking at the fan grids because she has built up inside the unit. The easy way to remove it is to use a vacuum cleaner hose from the cleaner to the grids of aspiration air (using a piece of cloth to maximize suction). This should make the fans running at very high speed and can produce a WAD of debris inside the grids you'll need to choose carefully.

To be really complete, you need to remove the radiator cover (adjacent to the grids of aspiration and locked by two "torx" screws). With the cover removed, you will be able to see the heat sink itself fixed by four Phillips head screws (two on each side), delete them and remove the heat sink. Note that it will stick to the CPU because of thermal paste used during Assembly. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOUGH. Once the heatsink is removed, you will be able to see an accumulation of debris.

Reassembly is the reverse of the uninstall, but note sequence on the heat sink numbers, so that you can tighten the screws in the correct order.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A30, PC shutdown due to overheating of the CPU

My Satellite A30 has a new problem, the PC shuts down due to overheating.
Fans are set to Max Performance. The cooling fans are not blocked by dust.
I think that the CPU is overheating for some reason any.
Can someone explain what parameters can be modified to avoid this problem?
I also saw that the other Toshiba PC needed a BIOS upgrade, it will be necessary for the A30?

    Hello David

Your device is certainly full of dust and cannot be properly cooled. If I remember the unit has two vents on the lower part. The must be removed and cleaned properly.

Trust me on this machine, the dust is placed behind the fans and if you look they seems to be clean, but they are not. Contact the customer Service of your country partner. The cleaning procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A30 seems to be overheating

Hello. I just read the previous posts about the A30 overheating and stop. Mine did the same thing. If someone could clarify, where are the vents for me to try vaccing - they are at the back by the power cable - these look quite clean. I need to open to ACCESS them?
If that doesn't work can not someone tell where I can go for repair, IE is there a list on the internet of the Toshiba certified service engineers?
    Thank you very much

    Hi Alison,.

The aspiration air on the A30 grids are in the bottom of the unit just behind the battery. There are two racks, and you use the hose of vacuum cleaner on each grid.

  • Satellite A30 - 303 unplanned shutdown?

    Hello world

I have a laptop Satellite A30-303. Somehow, independent programs open in Windows XP (Home, Pro edition, tried both), computer laptop unexpectedly shutw down, stop immediately. No message from windows, no errors of any kind, nothing, just the way it went.

It's very strange. I have read all of the instructions, did the bios update to 1.80 (dated Sep 15) and still the same thing.

Fact checking for viruses, all firewalls security and it did not help at all.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards
    Halin

    Hello Hakan

Please check that the machine not too much heat! The symptom you describe is exactly that of a machine overheating. Check if the fan is running continuously before stopping. Also check that there is no dust in the cooling of the machine module.

  • Upgrade of RAM for Satellite A30 213

After buying my satellite second hand I immediately found why it was for sale, the dreaded overheating.
I cleaned the fans with compressed air and it worked fine, then my error fatal, flushed with success, I bought the RAM online and installed. It was recgonised by the system and I thought all was well until it has proved defective and crashed my operating system, no recovery was possible.

An operating system later new XP (and £50 poorer), I'm ready to have another go, but I can't open the user manual on the Toshiba site.

I want to get right to the RAM of a reputable suplier, but the specifications I have indicates only DDR RAM, does anyone know the full specification (pins etc) because I don't want to lose it all again?

    Hello

    Have a look here:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=7249&ft=m&St=3

You need the PC2100 200 pin SODIMM (266 MHz) DDR modules.
You can upgrade the Satellite A30 Ram up to 2 GB. This means that you can use the 2 x 1 GB module.

I had a good experience using modules from Kingston.

    Welcome them

  • How to clean the cooling modules Satellite A30

How can I clean the fan overheating? I can't open my laptop (Satellite A30) on the back for a screw is damaged. is there an alternative?

    * {color: #000000}
Thanks for your comments! {color} *.

You can use a jet of compressed air to clean the cooling fans.
This air jet can be bought from most of the dealers for laptop and computer.

Then you could try blowing through the vents to get rid of dust and debris.
For the most part this procedure simply help!

If the laptop overheats again, contact a technician for laptop for further assistance.

  • Satellite A30 always stop without notice

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with my laptop Satellite A30. It will always stop without notice. But the thing is that I n it's a problem of heating with the fans. The laptop turns off only to if im under the laptop to maximum power or full power from the AC adapter. Tasks that can be taxed as a full system virus scan or play games will be stopped after about 20 minutes more than the setting of high battery power or if its connection to the network and is set to full power. Using word or simple tasks are not.

Now im thinking there may be a problem with my cpu it can not handle when it needs to perform tasks advanced on my laptop. What could be the problem? Low power my laptop works very well even when executing these advances of the tasks it is only a problem when its power on full or high.

    Any help or advice?

    Hello

Thanks for the description I always think of it s an overheating problem.
Current laptop saver control different modes of consumption if the laptop works with the AC adapter or with full power, the energy saver uses different power mode when the laptop will run only to batteries.

Different consumption patterns are supported various parameters of the processor and the different method of cooling.
Probably the CPU works with a hot and maximum performance when the power adapter is connected.

I think you should check the cooling modules and fans. Try cleaning carefully with the vacuum cleaner. But if you have no experience with these procedures, then request a technician or a person with more experience

Perhaps, the Bios is damaged and need to be reflashed

The hard drive can be a troublemaker. To be honest, it is not easy to say what is really happening through this forum. It can turned off because of overheating, clean the tower with air jet

  • Re: Fan is constantly running on Satellite A30

Whenever I start my Satellite A30 the fan starts to operate in an audible manner. However, HD is about 32 to 35 ° C, according to speedfan. In addition, from time to time, the fan speeds up and gets really loud.

In addition, sometimes the laptop just closed without any warning. I shall now put the end of the book a one bar so that air can still pass by the pc, and I feel it helps.

I would like to stop the fan always running and to reduce its noise.

My RAM expansion may be the reason?

To make the A30 run better and be able to install WinXP SP3 I upgraded from 256 MB to 2.0 GB of RAM which is the maximum size of RAM according to the manual. I used the site Web of Kingston to select and buy the CPU, so I guess I bought good extensions.

If the extension of RAM were the reason for the fan always market that would mean that if the A30 Gets the full load of RAM it's overheating. Right?

Are there people here on the forum who had the same problem with a noisy laptop after upgrading the RAM?

    TIA
    FT

Satellite A30 is old enough for laptop and, in my view, there may be a big problem cold air and cooling rack is full of dust. Laptop cannot be properly cooled. I opened several old notebooks and it was amazing to see how the dust was inside. I really wonder how the laptop worked

Laptop last I opened was friends Satellite A100 (not so old as yours) and I've been irritated how fan worked on this laptop. He was so strong and ON / OFF sporadically. After cleaning it computer laptop was extremely calm and fan has worked almost constantly, but at the low level silent.

The same was on my old satellite 1900. It was full of dust.

Upgrade RAM or any other reason can be the reason for more power and performance. Performance notebook more runs faster and produce more heat. The critical threshold is reached laptop after suddenly OFF.

  • Satellite A30 921 stops after 10 minutes

I am the owner of a Satellite A30 921, but it stops after 10 minutes.
I tried to change the settings for toshiba power management, but they will not work any ideas?

The laptop turns off automatically without display of error messages?
This can be caused by an overheating problem!

How old is your laptop and you clean the cooling fans in the past?
If this isn't the case, I recommend you this doing.

To clean the fans, you can use the jet of compressed air that can be bought in most computer stores.
The problem is that dust and debris inside of the laptop prevents cooling modules works properly, and so the temperature increases to a higher level. This leads to the farm automatically from the bottom.

In my opinion, fans of cleaning might help with this problem.

  • Satellite A30-414: what processors are compatible?

Hello, I have a satellite a30-414 without the central unit and I don't know which cpu is able to use.
    Is the socket 478? 479?
    Should I use a P4M 2.4 Ghz or I can also use a P4M 2.0 as the SL6CL or 1.6 as the SL5YU?

    Thank you all.

    Hello

I studied in the net for details A30 and it seems that the following processors could be compatible.

Intel Celeron CPU up to 2.8 GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.06 GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU to 3.2 GHz (with HTT)
CPU Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) up to 3.46 GHz (with HTT)

But to my knowledge the Toshiba doesn't support any replacement of the CPU. That's why you get no guarantees that the laptop will only work stable after replacing the CPU.
You should consider overheating problems after upgrade CPU. The fact is that faster CPUS produce more heat and therefore increase the temperature.

  • Satellite A30 - question about the CPU temperature

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A30 (model name: SA30-151, model number: PSA33E). I had the usual problems with overheating and closing, where I had to clean the radiator.

My question is, how hot the CPU must sit at and what temperature is dangerous?

I installed 'Hardware sensors Monitor' and the average temperature is about 55 c, but I saw it happen at 70 c when I'm pushing it.

I was not able to find something on the net about it and I can't find information on the Toshiba site.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks...

The same temperature is on my Tecra M1. Believe me, there's really no reason to panic.
