My Security Center cannot see that my Windows Defender and Kaspersky PURE are active, how to fix this?

Whenever I invoke the turn on now, he fails to get the updates (if the Defender is out of date) or it's up-to-date (because I've updated through the Defender on the interface). Regarding anti-virus, Security Center reports that Kaspersky PURE (obviously running not far from the clock on the toolbar) is / was not found. You can see in the screenshot below. Please note that Kaspersky PURE runs (lower right corner of the image) despite Security Center claiming otherwise.

Is there something wrong with the part of my Vista operating system or what? How I solved this 'blindness' of the Security Center? Thank you.

According to this link, you should not use Kaspersky Pure and Windows Defender on the same computer: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208281579

Try disabling Windows Defender and restart the computer.

If the "Security Center" does not always recognize Kaspersky, suggest contact Kaspersky Support or ask for help in the Forum Vista:

Windows service install could not be consulted how to fix this?

    Hi raptor05

What exactly happens when you try to install a program that needs this service?

Try these steps and see if it helps you:

    Unregister and re-register Windows Installer.

To do this, follow these steps:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. in the Open box, type msiexec /unreg and then press ENTER.
    3. click on start and then click Run.
    4. in the Open box, type msiexec/regserver, and then press ENTER.

NOTE: you must log in using the administrator account and try to install it like that. Or you can also try running the program by right clicking and select "run as Administrator". It should work.

We need to install the latest version of Windows Installer that is 4.5, the link to it is:

    Hello WK99,

    1. you have any software from third-party security installed on your computer?

If you have security software installed on your computer, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the security software.

If still does not work, run a file system on your computer check tool. You can read the article which will give you information on how to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

This can also be caused by an infection of malicious software on your computer. I suggest that you run a Malware scan on your computer and check if you have the same problem. You can follow the link below and run Windows Onecare scan online.

  • Can't see taskbar, except if I close all the windows, but hide automatically is not checked - how to fix this?

It happened all of a sudden during a browsing session. Also, I do not see the albums "open windows" list unless I have point to him. "Auto-hide taskbar" is not checked. I tried to stop and do a restart, but nothing has changed. The two bars are always top in IE but not in Firefox more. It is very annoying. I would like to know how to solve this problem, and also how it could have happened, so I don't do it again! Thanks in advance.

Firefox is stuck in mode full screen? The F11 function key switches between regular views and full screen modes.

Firefox window is an irrational dimension in normal mode, it can indicate a corruption of the file that stores the information of location/size of window. The usual medicine is to rename this file and let Firefox restart by using the default dimensions. Here's how:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

As this process goes probably most toolbars, you can use one of the following methods to display the toolbar list and activate the desired bars it:

To activate the menu bar, toolbar bookmarks or other bars, click it in the list.

    Hi dear,

    1. do you get an error message when you try to play the files?

    2. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

If your computer has problems to play video or audio files in Windows Media Player, try using the troubleshooting Windows Media Player settings Troubleshooter to fix the problem. This utility checks the configuration settings and network for Windows Media Player to ensure that you can play the content you downloaded and saved on your computer, or content streaming over a network or the Internet.

The troubleshooter makes sure that Windows Media Player is installed correctly on your computer and checks if the Player library is corrupted.

Method 1: Run the utility troubleshooting of the links below and see if it helps to get the problem solved.

Open the troubleshooting Windows Media Player settings Troubleshooter

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library

  • If running Microsoft Security Essentials do I need run Windows Defender? Is the reason why I can't start the Defender-Essentials?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on Vista x 32.  Security Center tells me to start Windows Defender.  I click to start, but he tells me that I have to restart my computer or manually start Defender myself.  I go to services, and it does not advocate.  It basically tells me that my system has no need currently the program or there is another reason, it does not start.  Responses tells me that for the error code of course, I met error 0x800106ba later Code it tells me to try to start it manually if it doesn't work I have uninstall Defender and need to reinstall it.  Yet when I go to uninstall programs, Defender is not listed.  I tried to install it again because it is not listed, I thought I could.  When I went to install it, it-error telling me that I have already as it came pre-installed with Vista.

Now, my question.  Do I really need Defender since I use Microsoft Security Essentials?  Is in fact an older version almost essential?  Why it tells me to start it if it is not needed? And if necessary, why it won't start

  • Permanently disabled, Windows Security Center cannot be re-enabled or restarted.

So I opened a file (like a fool) obvious malware and there is the Windows Security Center will be automatically disabled. Reactivation and restarting via the menu of Services only solves the problem for a minute or two, after which I get an Action Center message informing me that the Security Center is disabled later. I ran full scans with Malwarebytes and AVG Free, which neither identify all threats. Spybot S & D seems to identify that Security Center is not running, but "fixing" with S & D only reactive and restarts the service, after which it is invalid promptly thereafter. Can anyone help?

The fact that you can re-enable and restart the service and then see off again (if I understand correctly your information) is a strong indication that there is still an active infection on your computer (as opposed to the impossibility for the throw at all which is often the result of inflicted malware corrupted registry).

Use the Windows Firewall and BFE (base filtering engine)?

I recommend that you run the following tools in more malwarebytes and AVG.

  • Problem: Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is turned off, but I am running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is disabled.  I have Win XP Professtional and'm running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials times which I recently uninstalled, restarted the computer and reinstalled more updated.  I read related security problems, but I have not found a match.  I have a screenshot of the Win Security Center Alert, but unable to attach.  It is said: ' Windows found multiple antivirus programs on this computer, but they all report that they could be updated or disabled. " Click on the recommendations for suggested actions... [what I did without success, i.e. update.  «[I uninstalled, stop, rebooted and reinstalled and updated]»

When I shoot to the top of MSE it says, "protection is enabled, and updated definitions.

Windows Defender said: "Nothing detected" and "computer running normally."

Before the uninstall and update, I ran System Mechanic from Iolo, who has done wonders for speed.

When it comes to antivirus software, you want one and only one installed and running on your computer.  Two or more may come into conflict with eachother and degrade performance.  I advise you to uninstall Windows defender and use soley mse.

also I strongly suggest that you avoid using "PC optimization" tools.  They can help a little, but they often do more harm than good.
