My sound is that I'm under water

When I watch 4oD the sound quality is terrible, it's that I'm under water. I'm on Windows Xp. Any ideas please?

Thanks for your advice, I'm a bit dim when it comes to this sort of thing! I spoke with a friend who agrees with you, she comes to settle something called VLC here for me? She also advised me to do the program I want to look ready, ready to play and then pause while I go make a cup of tea! She told me that this will improve overall viewing for me... and he did! Thanks a lot again :)
