  Perhaps.  An analysis of file system I think would replace the help files, but you can try it, there is no harm.  Just open a command prompt (right click and "open as Administrator"), and then type sfc/scannow

• Windows 7 problem - transferred video files have audio, no video

  I have a 2009 Dell laptop running Windows 7, which has received a critical update and put me in the loop of startup repair.  I am not at all concerned about the machine, but just trying to recover the files on the laptop.  The command prompt using high and xcopy, I am able to see the different directories and get all the files necessary for an external hard drive.

  However, for video (.mpg) recovered, ago only audio and no video (at a time when I try to open the hard drive external when connected to my new laptop main running Windows 10 or directly on the mobile phone.)

  Any help is greatly appreciated with a better way to transfer video files or to be directed to whatever codecs are necessary to be able to watch the videos as it is.

  Updated - hooked to a Windows 7 computer external HARD drive and all the videos are very good.

  Only problem is play on a machine Windows 10.

• Newly created files have disappeared

  Three days ago, I created a new folder with 10 files in PhotoShop CC 2015. These files were created on one of the three internal data disks only. I have a MacPro OSX 10.9.5, with 14gbs or RAM.

  Yesterday, I opened Photoshop to look at these files. They all are listed in Photoshop just opened, but when I tried to open them, it says that file not found.

  So, I opened Finder, but the directory and all the files are missing. I searched with Spotlight and EasyFind, but they don't return any results.

  I ran Disk Warrior, thinking that maybe the directory for this drive has been corrupted, but the files do not show up.

  I have two backups of this drive. A cloud on Backblaze that is updated throughout the day and on one another internal drive it is updated nightly with SuperDuper. Two of these backup drives also are these missing files. I guess that means, given that I created first of all these new files, they some kind disappeared from my source drive and then were later deleted from the back-ups when they have been synchronized. I don't have a Time Machine drive.

  I ran disk drill and Wondershare data recovery to try to locate and recover these files. The only files that they have located are the versions of these files created by Photoshop Autosave. These versions are not recoverable.

  I have not opened or deleted all the files on this disc, since I created these files. Although OSX or SuperDuper had a brain * and deleted, I think they should be not have been crushed and should be recoverable.

  I worked on Macs since 1994 and PhotoShop since 1998 and I'm not aware of the files disappear on their own, as they apparently did.

  Any advice on:

  1. what else can I try to find these files?

  2. what could have caused to disappear in the first place?

  3. how to prevent this from happening in the future?

  I'll set up a Time Machine disk which I assume would have helped in this case since it is not synchronized in the same way as SuperDuper and Blackblaze, right?

  You might be able to do a system restore to before restarting your computer.

  You must scan your system against viruses and malware.  Get www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and www.malwarebytes.org and do a full system scan with each.  Then, you may need to restore shortcuts and other thereafter.  It really depends on how messed up it.  It might be useful to take a reputable shop and have them back up the disk and fix problems.

  I am running Windows 8 and Office 2013 on my Pro Surface which is connected to a windows server 2008 small business. I logged this morning & everything was according to the normal and then stop. 4 hours later, I've rekindled my Surface Pro back & noticed that files that have been made to my office were now missing! The I noticed that I had also lost my favorites IE10 & my PST files that are found also in this profile! The strange thing is that my trash all my deleted messages still there, my taskbar & desktop still has my shortcuts.

  I rebooted, tried several restore points & registered in & out of the local machine & domain but nothing helped. I searched on the drive C for files & shortcuts that I know were there, but nothing comes up in the search. From what I see they disappeared in the air all of a sudden! I also made a thorough analysis of the virus on my computer using the software from TrendMicro, I installed but nothing was detected.

  I have the start menu classic Shell installed & I had installed an update for it yesterday. The only other thing I did recently was yesterday that I had moved to the location of my user account location in the tree of folders on the Server Active Directory users & computers. I have a problem this morning then it seems as if it happened out of the blue!

  I'm having a problem with the idea files disappearing.  I have used Adobe ideas for a while now on my personal iPad, and I worked on a second iPad to create illustrations for the work.  Two iPads are signed on the same Adobe account.  Last week, I synced the two accounts so that all my files would be present on two iPads.  Today, when I opened the ideas on my personal iPad, put ideas to update all files and all my old files (for a period of 3 months time) has disappeared.  I can't find them in my Adobe account or anywhere else.   Your external HARD drive may have failed.  Open utility disk, then run first aid > Verify and Repair the disk.

  Method 1:

  You can install the redistributable package the latest Microsoft Visual C++ according to the version of windows you are using and check the issue.

  Help: I opened LR to work on some files. The hard drive where the files are stored is attached. LR has always considered all the files it's supposed to. NOW, for some reason, it only sees the files LR upwards until 2014. It does not show me the files, properly installed and already worked on several times.   Have you checked in Control Panel from all photographs in the library module and subfolders?
  Are these images not appearing at all in the Lightroom library or they appear with the exclamation points?

  Work in the same catalog that you were earlier?

  Go to the file menu > open recent item > check if you are in the correct catalog.
