If you have devices non-essential attached to the system, unplug them. Windows XP Setup may attempt to detect them.

If you have more than one hard drive installed, disconnect all except the drive that you plan to install Windows XP on.

I try to download Thunderbird and won't have a chance. The download starts, but it is going very slowly. After several minutes, he seems stuck around 2%. Then it slowly moves to 4%. I left it for an hour and he did not move from there. Any other download this same volume (28 MB) coming almost instantly. I have tried different browsers, different PCs, disabled antivirus (Windows Defender), empty the browser cache, and checked my specifications. The same thing happens again. A computer I tried is a Compaq Windows 8 with 2 GB of RAM and 1 GHz processor. The other is a Dell Windows 7 with 4 GB of RAM and 2.6 GHz processor. Both are x 64. Anyone else having this problem or knows how to solve? Is this a server problem or something wrong on my end? Thank you.

Also, here are a few tweaks that you can watch in windows 8, which can be useful for performance.

Set the performance of the slow system (Windows 8)

Also you can watch latency spikes. Essentially, it is an application, driver, or a combination that will push the CPU to its limits and so your system will have spikes where the transformer is overloaded. Requests will be have lag or stop responding, audio or video will pause or break up.

I found the following page on Sysnative that addresses this problem very well, with lots of graphics and links to Microsoft support pages. It will help you to isolate the cause.

  • File size shows 422 MB. I reduced the photos and rebooted and it shows still 422 MB. Program runs very slowly and stops while I'm editing.

Muse works very slowly and stops while I'm editing. The file size is 422 MB. I have resized the pictures on the site, and reloaded. It shows still 422MB. My return carbonite says until there are 5 versions. I can't find many versions on my computer.

A 187 MB file is large but are not rare. The .muse file size is entirely dependent on the size and complexity of your site.

Where is stored the .muse file? It's on an internal drive, external hard drive, network drive, other?

Please send the file 'MuseLog.txt' to the 'Documents' folder to my attention at [email protected] along with a link to this topic of forum for the context. The log should contain additional information about the 1034 (and any other error) you met. Thank you.

If your site will develop continuously, it is good for the design and approach it like a series of "micro sites" - each published/uploaded to a folder on your domain. In this way individual "micro-sites" can be kept smaller and so will perform better in the Muse. For the visitor to the site, it looks like a Web site.

  • Portege A100 suddenly started going very slowly

    Hello

I have a Portege A100, which suddenly began to go very slowly. It takes 5 minutes to load completely upward when it was much faster. I tried to reload Windows on it several times, but as soon as you start loading other pieces of software on the speed significantly deteriorates.

I also tried to use software to completely clean the hard drive before Windows on it but this does not solve the problem either.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello David

I had a similar behavior on my old satellite 1900. At the end I checked the HARD drive and there are lots of bad sectors. At the beginning everything was OK, but after the installation of a few different satellite applications was slower and slower.

In the end, I switched HDD and everything was OK again. I recommend you to check the HARD drive to see if there are some bad sectors. If so buy new HARD drive. Repair of sector help much.

  • Decryption BitLocker moving VERY slowly and always taking to copy files - is this normal?

Hi - I'm eager to decipher my drive, and when I clicked on the option to decrypt in Windows 7 Ultimate edition, it began to 17.9%.

Here we are, more than 12 hours later, and we are at 19.3%!
Seriously, it's going to take weeks (or even months) to decrypt this thing? Is it possible to speed it up? Virtually none of my CPU is used - why? It is very disturbing to me because my other hard drive is dying and will not last more than a few days, if that.
In addition to this, I can't just copy the data off of it because it moves very SLOWLY! For example, my drive C (not bitlocked) is able to load all images in a folder with photos instantly. On the bitlocker drive, now, each photo takes 2-5 seconds to load. Amazing! Data transfer looks like 30 KB/s. It would take years to copy. Why is everything that happens at the same time? What's causing the slowdown? The player works wonderfully until I went to decrypt. What a nightmare!

    Hello thefoxbox,.

BitLocker has done with encryption?  How big are the two disks that you encrypt?  Please let us know status.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438 (WS.10) .aspx

About how long will initial encryption when BitLocker is enabled?

BitLocker encryption occurs in the background while you continue to work and the system remains usable, but encryption times vary according to the type of reader that is being encryption, the size of the disk and the speed of the drive. If you encrypt very large capacity disks, you can set encryption occur during times when you won't be using the drive.

  • Windows 7 SP1 w/IE 11 freezes, slow performance with switching webpages, downloads, games run very slowly and when to play simple games (for example, CandyCrush Saga) it ignores the graphics and music.

I have an older Toshiba Satellite laptop I found that, after buying new laptops, I return to my only older because of its speed of travel from site to site, download and never had any problems with games.  I was running Windows 7 Home Edition, IE 9.

About a year ago, I decided to upgrade my Windows 7 Home Edition to Windows 7 Professional and updated my browser IE 11.  Laptop still has a large.

Then about 6 months ago I started to receive messages when you enter a Web site that I need to install Flash Player to view the page.  I checked my modules and Shockwave or Flash Player have been activated and would download it again to display the Web site (which I had already visited several times without any problems).  This has happened on several different sites.  Then I started to receive messages that I needed to upgrade my IE8 browser to a newer version.  I checked HELP to make sure that I still installed IE11 and I did it, I started getting these messages more often then I went to the aid of Microsoft Office on what to do if your Web pages telling you to upgrade.  Basically, IE11 is reset or uninstall IE11.  Reset is not good so I tried the method of reinstallment.  I uninstalled IE11, went to the download page for Microsoft IE11 and proceeds to download IE11.

I saw a message that I couldn't download IE11 because I need to Windows 7 SP1 or later or Windows server 2008.  Then, I went to Microsoft requirements for the installation of Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and follow-up procedures one (i.e., uninstall Adobe Acrobet, disabling Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender and firewall, etc.) and after the installation of SP1 for Windows 7, followed all procedures to know what to do after the installation of SP1.  Downloaded all the updates (which were more than 120) restarted and was satisfied with fluent how my laptop worked once more.

After a week, I noticed my phone to talk more and more to load pages and would begin to get Windows Explorer "unresponsive".  It started with almost everything I opened and I tried to edit Web pages or click icon to redirect me to another window, I kept receiving "not responding".  Rose (Microsoft), what to do and monitoring tools to try to fix the problem.  Initially, the problem was to find for a few hours, then starting upwards.  After a few days, my laptop almost took 30-45 seconds to switch between the tabs or windows.  After a search through questions and answers in the Microsoft community and Microsoft Web pages, the bottom line was reinstall Windows 7 SP1.

Yet once, uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 7 SP1 and again ran perfect for a few days.  I turned on computer laptop yesterday and noticed that it took a long time for the upcoming Windows logo and has a black screen for a few seconds before the logo appears.  Of course, out of nowhere, I went to IE clicked icon and took forever to get to Yahoo (which is my predefined Web page).  Each page, I'm going to again is freezing, "not responding" and very slow operation.

It is so frustrating because I added not all programs at all.  I am running IE11, Microsoft Security Essentials, and that's all. Outside of Windows Defender, firewall, Explorer, Media player, etc..  Microsoft Security Essentials (I did a full scan) has detected no viruses whatsoever and I 264 GB 285 GB free on my C: drive.  Therefore, there is no problem with the free space.  I have deleted the old files, temp files, analyzed and defragmented my hard drive and am just lost as to what is the cause.  All my drives are underway and have no conflict with all devices.  If I go down my Windows Professional so I will not be able to download anything higher than IE9.  I love IE11 and am happy with Win 7 SP1 if only he would stay longer than 3 or 4 working days.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Hello

More RAM generally contributes to performance, especially if you run memory intensive applications like PhotoShop.
A faster hard drive can also help as can keep it clean and defragmented.

Here are some performance controls and tips to help.

Be careful that a lot of these programs and services really needs to run and often remove some
contributes little to the speed of the machine while making the less friendly machine to use.

Method 1 using Windows Defender will tell you more specific information about each program.

    ---------------------------------------------

It's a little more complicated that you might have a few running services that you can do without.
Be careful by disabling a service may impact the ability of other agencies to run and cause problems of
    on the road.

Also some programs add services that might not really need to start automatically. You can
often these type services put manual to reduce their impact on performance.

To see these compare these in Start - type in the search box-> find Services at top right click RUN AS ADMIN
to those of the default Vista as indicated here by BlackViper. Ignore and who are on the disabled (which do not run) or
Manual (which work only on request) - for any automatic or automatic delayed start you can post here if
you need help to decide if you should run. Some of these can be assigned to manual and stop so that the calling program can run them as needed.

BlackViper made also some improvements to default windows services but I wouldn't do those unless you
really understand the full meaning of change a default service. Then use it as a tool to compare.

Another thing that helps performance is updated drivers - Vista like the updated drivers.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
    manually if you wish.
