    Hello

I get this error "failed to configure windows updates. returning from changes. do not turn off your computer. The computer is a Samsung Ativ tab 5 and I got it for a little over a week.
I have updated with the SW update
The results of the troubleshooting online are:
    Problems encountered:
Recent updates - not fixed installation problems
Search for missing or corrupted - files detected
Some security settings are missing or have been modified - fixed
Registration for the service is missing or corrupt - fixed
    Windows Update error 0 x 80070490 (2014-02-10-t-11_25_11A) - fixed

I have been through ALL the steps as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358. I have had no success.
One thing that bothers me, is in the configuration of the system, I have a service called true vector Internet Monitor (Zone Alarm) and when the value disable as in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135, it is the only service still running when you perform a clean restart. I don't know if this affects the Automatic Updates/configuration or not.

    Hello

Thanks for trying to help. Now my computer seems to be up-to-date.
I followed your steps but MicrosoftFixit50202.msi did not like "my OS is incompatible. I use windows 8.  I couldn't run this in default or aggressive.
I did go in Control Panel and disable antivirus and firewall Zone Alarm and reset Windows defender by default.
I did IE default web browser I have prob changed when I got to the computer.
I then returned to set up a clean boot and this time I managed to disable the true vector Internet Monitor (Zone Alarm) to run.
I ran the reset troubleshooting of Windows with the same result as before is to say:
Recent updates - not fixed installation problems
Search for missing or corrupted - files detected
I think I have restarted my computer at this stage and then tried to update again.
It has not yet, but with the error, I got an error code and a link to help. I don't have not noticed this before. I followed the help and ran about 5 command prompts that have to do with the renaming of files I think.
Then I tried updating again and this time 38 45 updates succeeded. I then ran the update again and it seemed to work on the other 7 updates.
Although Windows Update said I was now updated, I was skeptical as when this whole thing started is started when I got the "windows installs updates" and then "failed to configure updates. Returning... etc"then I restarted my computer. At the start, there was no message on try to configure the updates, then, how do I know they are configured and working as it should?
    Thank you.
  • Windows Search returns "cannot access the file ' res:...» »

Lately, whenever I use Windows Search, then click on a file that was returned in the results box, I get a weird error message that begins: Windows Search.  Cannot access file ' res:... "and so on.  Sometimes it opens then the file I want; other times, it opens a file that has nothing to do with my research.

In my situation, on two computers, I checked with Windows XP, this seems to happen when I click on an Adobe. PDF file in Windows search results. The exact message is:

Unable to access file ' res://ieframe.dll/navcancl.htm# [path to file]-.pdf [file] "."

The Windows Search Preview pane does not display the contents of the file, but the file opens successfully in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. It comes with a simple click on the file, not a double click.

  • Active network of machines Windows 7 returns to 'Public '.

    Hello:

I have a large number of machines which is imaged via SCCM about two times more than a year. All machines have the same brand of equipment and model, and they all receive the same exact image. The problem we run into is that after that all these machines were imaged and joined to the domain (automatically) a seemingly random percentage of these systems receive their 'network location' value 'Field network' for some reason any.

The first user that connects to one of these problem machines will open with the 'Set network location' window to choose the network that the machine is turned on (IE. Public, home or office). What we have done so far is to identify these machines problem manually log and set the network location to "domain network. This is important for us since we use certain firewall restrictions using the domain profile to some software packages work so as to give access to the RDP connections. "However, sometimes even after we manually configure the network location ' field network ' location will be change back. When I connect these systems and see that the location is set to this bed "mondomaine.fr 2 (Unathenticated)" and below that says 'Public network '. Sometimes, even the machines who initially didn't have no problems with the network location will change 'field network' to the 'public network' I mentioned above.

I noticed that if we restart one of these problem machines enough times, it will eventually return to the regular 'field network' on its own. But you are also not guaranteed it will stay like this at the next reboot.

I compared the logs on the problem machines in newspapers on systems without problems and I do not see anything else. I looked at the logs on the domain controller and did not notice anything out of the ordinary either. The network location awareness service is enabled on all these machines by default. I know that I can remove and readd the machines to the domain and that the problem could more that probably go far but it's impossible for us to do every time we have these systems of images. At this point, I would like to know why this is happening as he keeps occurring each time that recreate us the image on all of these systems.

I have seen this problem mentioned on the web a bit without a single identifiable culprit. A while back, I found this MS KB: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2524478?wa=wsignin1.0 that describes the problem I encounter almost to the T. However, once I downloaded the "fix" and tried to install it, it tells me that the fix is not for windows 7, even if the Web page indicates that it is.

Someone met by reason of why this happens and a permanent solution?

  • power management Windows 8 returns to energy saving

On my new laptop with Windows 8, I implemented a plan of power according to my needs, but the computer keeps returning on setting energy saver, that turns off the screen when watching films, mitigates the light so that I work and it is really annoying. How can I stay on the power setting, I chose?

So far so good.  So, to summarize.  I had the problem of extended battery life Dell always force the Power Saver power plan on restart.  I entered the options for Dell Extended Battery Life Options and made the following:

    1. unchecked "enable Dell Extended battery life".

    2. you click on 'apply '.

    3. click on the "Settings" button... »

4 unchecked 'Change the Power Saver power plan' and click on 'OK '.

5 valve applies (even if this step is perhaps superfluous)

    6. re-checked "enable Dell extended battery life"

    7. you click 'Apply' then 'OK '.

Restarted and voila, always on my selected power plan...

The funniest on the Dells Power Saver plan is that I usually leave the laptop on open on my desktop and the thing just stays on, sucking power there all the time.  It seems to turn off the screen.  And never to Hibernate (Actuallly, I just double checked the settings - a full three hours before hibernation...) Who would think that which is energy saving? -It is half of the total autonomy when it runs)...  Can not understand how "energy saving" I would go further with a charged battery is full charge nearby when I got home, but would have an almost empty battery after 4-5 hours.  It seems also stay away, or at least suck power, when I closed the lid.  Finally got the option to Hibernate when I close the lid.  Not a lot of power use there, hopefully.

    Thank you

  • Black screen with windows to return to the scroll bar - Qosmio G30

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me. I have a Qosmio G30-161 and I encounter a few problems with it right now, every time I close the top of the laptop and leave it for about half an hour that I reopen the form and I get a black screen with a running scroll bar downstairs with the message saying "Resuming Windows to troubleshoot with windows press anyone." I let the scroll bar run its course and it goes back to the screen where it was before I close the lid. Can someone help me this is driving me crazy having to wait for the roll bar all the time, it has only recently begun.

I also have a problem concerning the closing of windows Explorer. Whenever I do this I get an error message "Error 217", this all started when I installed Norton Anti virus, I uninstalled this product and the problem resolved, I reinstalled norton and the problem came back.

    Anyway to solve this problem.

    Thank you very much.

First of all can you explain to me what should happen when you close the lid of the display?

In the settings of power at the moment is chosen the track option: when I close the lid to HIBERNATE. Please check this option on the tab stock setup and choose your preferred option.

I have no explanation for this Norton related issue. If Norton brand issues I recommend you to use other (better ;)) software.

  • HARD drive failure, I would like to know how to get Windows 7 return on it.

Hello everyone, I had a HARD drive problem lately, but before moving on to describe my problem, here are the specifications of my laptop:

    HP Pavilion dv6 - 3264-ca

    AMD Dual-Core 2.2 Ghz processor

    6 GB OF RAM

    128 MB ATI graphics card

    750 GB Toshiba HDD

    Windows 7 64 bit

    The question:

Recently, I had a HARD drive failure very unhappy. The recovery partition is not even load. I tried to boot my laptop with Linux with the HARD drive always attached, and it would not read. I pulled the HARD drive and placed in a box drive HARD and he would not yet be supported on Windows XP or Vista or 7. However, it would read in Windows Device Manager as well as in the BIOS.

I need to extract some data priority there so I managed to recover all my data safe with a data recovery service, but now the drive is rendered useless. I was told a low-level format might be able to help him to be usable again, and if that were to happen, would then disappear the recovery partition in the process.

In addition, I would like to install Windows 7 64 bit on the disk, but the box your laptop came with an installation CD, which is quite frustrating. Is he that sort of HP can let me download Windows 7 through any warranty service?

I have a one year warranty on my laptop.

In closing, I would like to know if I can get back Windows 7 on my HARD drive for free, or if I have to go to buy new Windows 7.

All the tips of your kind people?

    Hello

    Here are two options.

    1. if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit it is the version of exact details you need.

If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link...

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key is located on the underside of your laptop when asked and once installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM Windows installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - these costs about $30 if you live in the United States.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.
