    Hello

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

  • Windows Vista - Laptop Will NOT start properly

I'm trying to fix laptop from my friend and I ran into a dead end, trying to get this thing to start properly. It's a laptop of Dell Inspirion used (model pp26L).

From it normally of the results in a blue or white screen. When I go into the Advanced Boot Options, I tried "last good known Configuration (Advanced) and it goes to the black screen and does not change for hours." I also hit 'Repair your computer' and it brings up a window that is titled "System Recovery Options: RecEnv.exe - Application Error" and said, "the instruction at 0x775c6295 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program. »

I don't know what I can do at this point because I'm not too familiar with Windows Vista anymore. My friend cannot afford to buy a new laptop so I hope someone here can help me solve this!

UPDATE: if I managed to get "Last good known Configuration (Advanced)" to work, but it left me with a window titled "Startup Repair" that says "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically".

I don't have a Vista CD or whatever it is attached to the laptop. Everything that I have this thing is the laptop and the charger.

Go to your retail store, they should have the disk recovery for you or you need to go to your manufacturer directly because the manufacturer is best qualified to support the software that the manufacturer has installed on the hardware, provide your serial number and order the CD on their part. I bet they arrange an expedition to the France and tax treatment for it, but should not be too much.

Note: The manufacturer was required to provide a way to reinstall Windows. If it is not a set of disks with the computer, there will be a hidden restore partition (do not be confused with the system restore), you would use to return the computer to the State of the OOBE (Out of Box Experience).

I left my computer, but he died later have not used for some time. For about two weeks I gave it like that. I have a new Win 7 laptop and want to transfer the files from my old Vista laptop. Recently I used Easy Transfer and a USB cable to do this on a machine for the wife swap so I know it works. • Windows Vista machines can see XP machines but cannot communicate with them.

original title: VISTA machine can see XP machines in local network, cannot connect

I have a 3 computer home network that has worked very well for many years, but it is usually just used by 3 machines to access the Internet.  Very rarely a computer does enter a file out of one of the other machines, but this feature has certainly worked in the past.

Machine 1: Desktop/VISTA/setting up a connection to the router

Machine 2: Desktop/XP/setting up a connection to the router

Machine 3: Computer connection laptop/XP/wireless to the router

All the machines, automatic update of Windows and all the computers are running Norton Security Suite, which is also updated automatically.  Norton Security Suite is a relatively new introduction to the network.

2 XP machines see that all 3 computers in the network each has access to the other.  2 XP machines can not "reach" the VISTA ("the network path was not found") which could be correct, because machine that I never shared something on this machine, although sharing file and printer sharing * are * on.

On the VISTA machine click on network and sharing Center and then see the full plan shows 3 machines in the group.  But, then clicking on view computers and devices results in the network window, which shows that the VISTA as a computer machine and a media device.  No XP computer to connect to.

The VISTA machine can ping machines (Machine 2 ping or ping Machine 3) XP, but XP machines can't ping the VISTA.  In fact, it's quite strange; If I 'ping Machine 1' of one of the machines XP ping command reports "Pinging Machine 1. (Name of working group) "[208.68.143.50] with 32 bytes of data", then he received 4 requests, responses has expired.  I have no idea where this name - the name of my PC added on behalf of the Working Group - and the IP address belongs to a computer somewhere in Massachusetts!  (I'm in California).

Rattling of the VISTA machine using its IP internal, as reported by the router just translates into 4 requests, responses has expired.

I worked on it for hours now, after trying all of the 'standard' patches with no improvement.  Given the Windows error message when one of the XP machines trying to access the VISTA - "the path not found network" machine as opposed to they access denied response - and the ping odd response when you use the name of the machine, I have the feeling that the things in the list of standard control is not the problem.

    Any thoughts?

    Tom Young

I finally reduced to the Norton Security Suite firewall.  Don't think that was the issue that the 2 XP machines are also running Norton Security Suite and is working very well.  Penetrating machines XP 2 'Total confidence' confidence level - which doesn't seem to be necessary according to the news 'aid' to Norton that I read over and over again - cured the problem.
