My wireless connection is only allow me to connect locally to internet

I have windows Vista on a computer and XP on the other. On the XP computer I am able to connect to my wireless router and internet without problem. On the Vista computer, it shows me as connected but only locally and does not allow me to connect to the internet. The wireless network is secure with WPA2. Before configuring security, I was able to connect to the internet on both computers. Any suggestions for settings that get around this problem? Thank you.

Hi annev72,

First of all, you can try to update the drivers for wireless card and check if it works.

For more information, you can consult the following link to update the drivers

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

Step 2: Turn off IPv6

Try to uninstall IPv6 on all interfaces, the removal of virtual cards of IPv6 and reset the TCP/IP stack. To remove the IPv6, go to the properties for each network adapter, and deselect the check box next to the Protocol "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will turn off, or select it and click on uninstall, which withdraw power off the computer.» Then go into Device Manager and remove any 4to6 adapters, adapters miniport WUN or tunnel adapters.
NOTE: You should do this for each network connection.

Hope this information is useful.

    Hello
I noticed a change in my system. My wireless connection says "no internet access. The other connection, presumably one wired, is OK.
I have no problem on internet and computer my son who is temporarily connected to the same router is also online.
But I wonder what can happen to change that, and what I can do about it. I noticed this when a little yellow exclamation point appears on the network icon in the systray /taskbar.

I spent a lot of time with the guidance of the internet, Cisco install CD, ipconfig and its switches, update drivers for the network adapters, uninstall the card network wireless and relocation, etc.. But the situation remains the same.

I will link to some images what I mean (hope it works).

  • Wireless connected but no Internet access

I have a new (5 months) Acer Aspire 5732Z which works in Windows 7. Wireless connection shows that it is connected (full bars) but I have no internet access (there is a signal of yellow exclamation over bars error). What do you mean by "information"?

What do you mean by "just not my router? Do you mean that you do not have
see same SSID of your own router (network name) in the list of available
wireless networks? If so, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable,
Enter the router configuration utility and make sure that the SSID
broadcast is set to 'enable '. If your router is already configured to
broadcast its SSID, and you don't see it well be able to see the other
near wireless networks, the portion of your router wireless is
    cut or broken.

Generally, symptoms such as you describe are caused by a defect of
to authenticate to the router, usually due to a mismatched
    password encryption.

  • Failure of wireless connection to the router to the desktop

I use Windows 7 and a router/modem method. The wireless connection to the internet recently stopped working in my HP Pavilion desktop computer. He still works for my tablet, but I can only connect to my desktop by Ethernet cable. It would seem that the fault lies in my office. The icon in the bottom right of the screen shows the wireless internet available as internet access card. I can't find any disabled dialog box display the Wi - Fi connection and troubleshooting shows no defects with network cards. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If I understand you correctly, when you click the icon in the system Notification area, you can see a list of the available connections, including the SSID of your wireless network.

    If this interpretation is correct

    • Unplug the Ethernet cable
    • open network and sharing Center
    • Click on the link 'manage wireless network '.
    • Select your network
    • Click 'delete '.
    • Now close the window manage wireless networks
    • Click on the network icon, select your network
    • Click on connect

  • Dell Inspiron 15 is having problems connecting to the internet?

    Hello

I had a problem with my Dell Inspiron 15, wireless connection to the internet for some time now. Almost daily, some time ago when I can't connect to the internet, no matter how many times I try to connect, and if I do connect, it remains only connected for a minute or two, and then I'm back to the tent to connect several times. I know it is not my router or my modem, because none of the other computers or devices in my House have the same problem. I'm the only one with these connectivity issues. I reset my router and modem regularly, thinking this may help, but it doesn't. I changed the channel on my router and which has in fact nothing, either.

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated!

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?
