NAS200, UN-configure the public default drive

Hello

I have a NAS200 with 2 drive public, configured by default.

I now want to configure more users and limit the use. But it seems that the Public record are always public and cannot configure the authorization it. I also have the latest firmware.

My question is if I can rename the/public folder to something else and then re - share with the same share call 'Public disc 1?

Current configuration:

Disk1/public is shared as 'Public disk 1 '.

I want to share Disk1 as 'Temp', then rename the public folder and then delete the share and create a new one.

Is - is this posible? I lose data?

Thank you very much

Oliver

It is not possible to rename, delete the "DISK 1" and "PUBLIC DISK 1" actions (or the "DISK 2" and "PUBLIC 2" DISK sharing if you have two disks ").» You also you can not move the sites referring to these actions.

However, you can hide these actions of all users and create new actions that relate to any location on your disk (s). For example, you can create a user 'jac' and a 'jac' share and modify access rights so that the "jac" user doesn't have access to "DISK 1" or "DISK PUBLIC 1" but only in the directory "jac". "". " Whenever the "jac" user on the NAS, he sees only the directory "jac".

IMPORTANT!

If your problem is that you're setting up of actions and not see them properly to your PC, it probably means that you are connected as a guest. Disable the "convert failed connections connections comments' (or completely disable comments connections) on the System Options page.

= Jac

  • How to save a PDF file in Adobe so it appears correctly in the Firefox default drive?

I have seen discussions on how to change your own settings of Firefox for poster correctly PDF files (documents to look at a PDF in Firefox 19 +) However, I'm looking for a solution on how to save a PDF file so that they display correctly in the new default Firefox reader. Our files PDF is bad looking and I can not go in the browser of each clients and difficulty settings (http://www.cherrybekaertbenefits.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/ACA_Infographic_072114.pdf). Meet them all parameters within the Acrobat Distiller is going to fix this without the Viewer to enter their own arrangements?

    Hmm, not a subtle difference.

We did not have many experts PDF or Adobe Illustrator users post advice here; those who might be sprinkled around on other forums, blogs or support sites.

I noticed when you view the properties of the PDF in Adobe Reader that the PDF has been created with optimization for active fast Web view. This is a feature that allows the progressive rendering of PDF files over a slow connection (http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-native-pdf-file-sizes.html#...). You can try to re - generate the PDF file with this feature turned off to see if that makes a difference?

  • Pavilion series P6000: Configure the new HARD drive.

I install a new Seagate 1 TB HARD drive in a Pavilion P6620F.  What I need to clone new HARD drive or just run the recovery discs?

It all depends of what your intentions are.

You are replacing the original disk or adding storage space?

The simplest method would be to clone the current to the new hard drive, when you replace the original hard drive. Install the drive cloned in the same place where the Moose an and with the same connectors.  Start the PC and everything should be STATED as it was before, except that it will be on a new hard drive.

If you add a drive for extra storage of storage, it is simply a matter of conecting a sata conector between unused hard drive and a sata header and connect a power connector from the hard drive.

Once it is done, turn on the PC and log in to Windows.

Use Windows Explorer to create up to four partitions and then format the partitions.  I am unware of how space exists in the case ATX mid for additional disks.

  • Prevent files on the operating system drive?

Then, even when I install adobe creative suite or photoshop on my D drive, I'm always a concert or two on my drive to the operating system.  I found him to be installing to my APPDATA folder on my C drive, but most of my program files go to the directory specified on my D drive.  How to prevent this? Why the program do that?

You can't avoid it. All Adobe applications will write policies at least some data to the root of the drive system for shared components, such as PDF and management, the system of licences and a few other things. Of course, you could avoid it, but it means that you need to reinstall your operating system and configure the various default directories differently. Applies to this (tha on the use of the DSS):

  • Windows 7 loses the secondary hard drive

This has been a problem, I don't know why I waited this long to ask about it.

My secondary hard drive keep endangered of Windows 7, as if someone unplugged spontaneously, except that it's still there.

This problem can be resolved by restarting just the computer, and it can remain correct for a few minutes, a few hoursor a few days, but it still exists, usually several times a week.

I checked all connections and even swapped the cables. There is nothing wrong with the drive itself, I can put it in another computer without this problem occurring. I also tried to move to an another empty SATA connection on the motherboard without success.

I do not use the drive on a regular basis and bought only so that the steam and the game files that are, (and now the original since I finally broke down and got Mass Effect 3 despite efforts to avoid EA "me too!" steam clone.) were not cluttering up my main hard drive.

But when I decide to take a load off and play games, I like for the reader to be there without needing a reboot, it can so be a little frustrating because it's usually when I am stressed already :)

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    Disks RAID configured hard two?

Internal hard disks connect to the motherboard of your computer using an IDE or SATA interface interface. Most new hard drives come with an IDE or SATA connection cable, depending on the type of drive.

Install an internal hard disk takes a bit more work, especially if you plan to make the new disk your primary hard disk where you install Windows. Drive hard internal jumpers that you set to configure the main hard drive (master) disk where you install Windows or a secondary (slave) drive where you store programs and files. For the diagnosis of your problem, I suggest trying the following methods and check if the number is reproduced.

    Method 1:

Check if you are able to view the second hard disk (HDD) in Device Manager. If so, try to change drive letter assignments in Windows 7. See the following steps:

    (a) connect to the computer as an administrator.

    (b) click Start, right-click computerand then click Manage.

    (c) click on disk management.

    (d) right click on the volume of the secondary HDD that you want to change and then click change drive letter and paths.

    (e) double click on the secondary drive, click change, click the drive letter that you want to use and then click OK.

    Additional information:
Change, add, or remove a drive letter
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter

If method 1 does not resolve the problem, go to method 2.

    Method 2:

I suggest you try to check the secondary hard drive to find errors.

    Consult the following link:

Check your hard drive to find errors in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2641432/en-us

Warning: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

If method 2 does not work, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

Try to run a scan of the file system (CFS) auditor to check any file corruption:

    1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
    2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, click OK, or alternatively click on Yes.
    3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

For more information, refer to this link:

  • The Deskjet D2360 driver installation error

Came across the problem, try to install the driver for HP Deskjet D2360 (same error for small size and size driver CD)

"The system does not have the specified path.

    and the screen thereafter

I installed this driver on several other PCs with no problems. My guess is that the problem exists because only the Windows XP Pro system is installed by default on E: and there is no painless way to change the drive letter of the system without breaking everything, so I can't check my theory. I can only refer to the screen that says error with "c:", which is not affected at all, so now that I can only blame HP for poor software design. Was looking for solution in google and many forums (including this one) and found nothing. In the hope of assistance.

Evolution letter of the system drive on a system that has been installed on the other default drive is not acceptable in this topic because it simply does not work (tried just killed system) such a solution is acceptable if some anomalies (such as viruses) changed the letter of the system drive.

But he came across acceptable solution:

Partitioned the HARD drive and created the new partition and it has assigned the drive letter "C:" and everything worked fine.

As I suspected it's failure to design of serious software made by HP by storing some temporary installation always files on "c:" and not using the system drive variable. That error is acceptable to students and a 1st class, students and not such great company like HP.

Thanks for the reply otherwise wouldn't such a solution.

  • Can configure the server from the host with IP address

    Hello

I want to configure a guest computer with 2 network cards, one for LAN private and one for the external LAN.

Right now, the problem is that I don't have that 1 useable public IP I can use on the external network address.

Which means that it's either I configure the public ip address on the NIC host or on the comment card.

May I just know set network bridge on the guest computer and configure the external static public IP, and then click map NETWORK address of the host machine, I set up the ip address. Will this work?

    Please notify.

    shanmomo wrote:

If you mean that by disabling TCP/IP on the host, the guest computer can access external WiFi?

Yes, if you use a Windows host, just uncheck the TCP/IP on the bridged card.

Or use NAT, then both machines can connect to the internet with a single IP.

  • How can I move the public folders default location to a new drive?

I'll put up a brand new machine with Windows 7 pre-installed and a big 500 GB hard drive.  I partitioned the drive into 2 logical drives C: and E:

Wherever possible I want to store all user data on E: (I know is not possible for all the parameters of the user to move - mores the pity).  I have not yet copied across all the data from my old machine so I just empty folders to play with at the moment.  I moved all the My Documents/pictures/etc files for the e: drive by changing the location in the properties of the folder.

However, I can't do the same with public folders.  If I right click on the folder, click Properties, then location, it's like I can't change C:\Users\Public\... but it does not change

No idea why, or how I can get around this?

This is possible thanks to a Directory junction that can redirect to a new location of the Public folder.

First create a new folder on E:\ and maybe you want to call it Public.

Go to Cmd prompt as administrator.

All copy existing public folders to the new folder created using the command
Robocopy /MIR %Systemdrive%\Users\Public E:\Public     (or any name that you used for public folders on E :)

You need robocopy as he takes care of hidden files, etc., especially if you have the recorded TV folder in public folders.

Once the copy is transferred, you must delete the existing public folder and create a junction in his place. To do this, boot into Safe Mode as an administrator and remove the public content and file inviting again by running Cmd as administrator. To remove the Public folder:

    RmDir /s /q %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public

After creating the new folder location and remove the existing public folder, now is time to create a Directory junction of audiences with the following folders:

Mklink /J %Systemdrive%\Users\Public E:\Public                         (or any name you named the folder opublic on E:\)

    for example: mklink /dC:\Users\Public E:\Public

Now, all that is intended for the original Public folder gets directed to the new location.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can anyone tell how I can configure the desktop as the default screen that appears when I connect to Win 8?

    Original title: Desktop

Can anyone tell how I can configure the desktop as the default screen that appears when I connect to Win 8 rather than having to go from the first layer redundant 'start-up '.

In fact, if anyone can tell if there's a free windback to an earlier version of Windows (7) who has not all layers unnecessary and icons, I would be really grateful

Your best bet is to switch to 8.1, that allows you to boot directly to the desktop, and then use a menu like debut8 to replace the old Start Menu and hide the side of the metro.

If your computer comes with Win Pro 8, you may be able to demotion, otherwise, you will need to buy 7. Before you buy 7, I would recommend go to the computer manufacturer's website and see if there are any Windows 7 drivers for your computer. You may lose certain functions - sound, network, video full resolution - if there is no driver.

The first option is easy and allows you to keep the improvements in performance and safety 8.

  • How can I configure Firefox Mobile to open webpages in default drive mode, so I use less resources and phone?

Maybe that is not an existing function, but I imagine that there is a setting for that somewhere in all: config. I want pages on my mobile to open in default drive mode, so that the player display button is pushed to turn this mode off, rather than on.

I want to do this for two reasons: first, so that the pages will not load not all ads (I'm particularly concerned about video ads) that sap resources from my phone and increase my use of data; and second, so that pages that are not optimized for mobile devices (which is a pretty large majority of pages that I tend to visit) will open in a more readable format.

I'm on a stand with a pricing plan based on consumption for data, so I want to use as little data as possible when you're away WI - FI. How can I view default drive Firefox Android opens pages to?

Mode reader must download the entire page before being able to analyze. It does not reduce the bandwidth used. An extension like adblock or uBlock hangs the content before it is downloaded.

How can I configure the default windows firewall

    Hello

If you use a 3rd part firewall uninstall it

or if you are using an internet security suite that includes a firewall, disable/turn off the firewall

    then that;

    1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking Security and then click Windows Firewall.

    2. Click turn on or off Windows Firewall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Click on (recommended) and then click OK

and you should have only ONE firewall running

more than ONE firewall running can cause blockages of the system, etc.

  • Windows Setup could not configure Windows on hardware of this computer Installation error on the new hard drive

Okay so if please bear with me and be patient.  I'm not tech savvy.  I know enough to be able to remove an old hard drive and put another one, but when there are errors, I don't know what to do.

    Here's the situation.

I have a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 installed.  I started having these notifications that my hard drive could be a failure.  I tried everything that I could find to fix it without having to buy a new HARD drive without success.  The current system has a 1 TB Seagate hard drive.  I installed a memory additional bar thingie right after that I got the computer about 4 years ago.  (If someone tells me how to find the properties of real system, I post them if necessary).  Anyway, I bought a new WD 1 TB black disk hard to install before my old dies and loses all my photos and documents, etc...

I took the old drive yesterday and installed the new hard drive.  I put back the case and turned on the machine.  I put in my Windows 7 installation disc.  He began installing Windows 7... It's completely past the initial screen where it says it to load it and the other... I had accepted the license agreement, but did not have to make a profile and do the work and the reader.  I hope all this makes sense.  Then it pops up this message "installing Windows could not set up Windows on hardware on this computer."  I couldn't figure out what to do from there.  I got the new drive and put the old one back to and here I am. I tried to find solutions to this problem, but I either don't can't make heads or tails out of the responses on the internet or the solution is not exactly my problem.

Please help if you can!  And if you have any suggestions, please dumb them down so I can understand what to do.  I CAN do if loaded, you just have to not talk too irritable.  Laughing out loud

    Thank you in advance!

    Maybe not...

The Windows installation is not happy about something, and since it gets at least started which is a good thing, but your installation problem can not really be with Windows - perhaps something about Dell hardware or your 1 TB HARD drive.

I looked at your system and found this article that you can read to see if it sounds like your original question:

Windows Setup could not configure Windows on hardware on this computer.

    http://www.Dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN293812/en

Since Dell has written an article for help on this subject, it means they've met enough times to take the time to compose the article and put it on their WWW site (but, they say, it is a possible resolution).

Could you take the issue in the Dell online community where experts hang out (especially your amber light).

Another good place for support is www.bleepingcomputer.com where there is a similar topic as your question (except Vista) on a Dell and a new disk of 1 TB (also a Seagate) and Dell ideas did not work, but someone else has found a way to fix it:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/453378/installation-fails-to-complete-on-new-HDD/

The bleepingcomputer for your error message search reveals other areas and people who have got things to work in different ways, then it is perhaps another place to look for ideas.

If the installation still fails it would not hurt to do the BIOS setting and see if things are getting longer, and since you are going to write the current settings before proceeding with the adjustment you can always cancel the adjustment if things get worse.
