Navigation to a new site folder

I use CS4 in Windows 7. When I put up a new site and navigate to the folder I want to implement in, Windows 7 displays the folder that I want to use, and offers the prompt 'open', what I'm doing. Then, it shows an empty folder and offers the "select" prompt

By clicking on this selects the folder above the one I want to use. For example, I want to use C:\exampp\htdocs\php5\ as my folder, but when I select using Browse, it selects the C:\exampp\htdocs\ instead.

I can do select the right folder by typing the name of the folder in the box of site for the local root folder definition. The same applies the default images folder.

However, a work around is to create the folders before you try to navigate to them when the definition of a site.

In CS3, I had not to do.

Is this an error in CS4 or a change in Windows 7 which CS4 didn't know?

Or am I just lazy?

By clicking on this selects the folder above the one I want to use.

This is a known bug in CS4 that ever was patched in CS4 by Adobe, despite many people post formal bug reports.

Workarounds are described in this FAQ link.

http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/478327

Needless to say, this is fixed in CS5.

Why my Muse formatting does not disappear when I open the site in DW CS6? I need to change the PayPal shopping cart code to account for my shipping options. I exported the Muse test in a folder and then created a new Site in DW with the help of this file, so all CSS should be there, but I don't see on the page about the elements without formatting, any stop to the left. Thank you!

PS: Muse will be the most impressive program ever when they fix these bugs or drop because not every user will be paying through the nose for Business Catalyst. Grrrrrrrrr.

Best approach would be not to use the PayPal widget and instead copy and paste the PayPal code embedded in an object > object to insert the HTML in Muse. This way you can edit the HTML code to embed PayPal code from Muse and without having to modify the exported code.

  • V6.1 - navigation bar in model - how to copy to the new site

With the help of V61. patched uptodate: in the past, I created a page template that had only the navigation bar. Later, I created a new site and wanted to just take the already built on the old site navigation bar and use it in the new. I have either:
-copied the page of the model to the new site
    or
-the navigation bar copied and pasted into a new page in the new site
I remember is no longer. I then modified the various images/up/down/etc. to reflect the new site navigation bar needs.

This worked very well, but now I need to change the bar. When I change this model, click on the navigation bar, select Edit, Navigation bar, it brings information on the navigation bar Original with all properties and the old button elements. Given that the two sites are on the same machine that I suspect it is somehow the link back to the old nav bar and I dare not play with it. I looked in the code section, but I don't see info here on what he thinks, what is the default for this navigation bar / model page and I can't find anything in the menus, help or KB on how to change what DW's default navigation bar.

Clearly the way in which I copied it was bad and maybe at this point there is no way to recover. But I wonder if I can somehow copy or record the esscence my new navigation bar, remove the entire model and a new, and then paste in my navigation again without having somehow remember all it's illicit past.

    Any thoughts appreciated,
    Alan D.

Heh, heh. Sorry, I recommend an NSAID and call me in the morning.

The entire site was "an exercise for the student" and started through tutorials of DW which indicated that I really should be using templates and cascading style sheets. Needless to say, say it anyway, it wasn't a total success. Leaving all that behind and the thanks bye for the advice, I'll look into your suggestions, my problem is that I can't change this in DW's navigation bar. If I select and try to change, rather than the navigation bar that you see on the site of solar data, the basic dunwellguitar.com site navigation bar happens instead. I had hoped to find a way to migrate or change the problem without having to rebuild. Give what you have already said, it seems that it would be prudent spend time-time to rebuild properly.

Thanks again for the suggestions and sorry for retinal damage.

  • You cannot change the location of the Web site folder

    Greetings,

When I change the location of the Web sites folder in the server application by changing ' Store Site Files In: ", the files in the default location of continue to load and not those of the location, I've specified. The location, I put is saved in the server application. I can leave the Server app and start again and see the location I specified, but it does not use this place.

    Thank you

Read https://help.apple.com/serverapp/mac/5.1/#/apd1AB74EDF-C5B3-4C20-AD02-42120FF3B2 08 and try to stick to these principles as much as possible.

The steps under does not include the method to change the location of the root folder, as Apple has as focus not exactly that.

Add or change Web pages on your Web site

To change what is available on the Web site, change the files in the folder to root for the document to your Web site. Folder document root is the folder that contains your website files.

Use the server application to find the root of your Web site. Default document root is/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default /. In addition, when you create a site and let the application Server automatically creates a new folder for you, he places the site filesin/library/server/Web/Sites/data/domain_name/.

    1. Selection of sites in the sidebar the Server app.
    2. Select the Web site, and then click the button change .
    3. Click the arrow to the left of the menu pops - up Store Site files in. The Finder opens at the location the document root. Edit files in this folder to change what is available on the Web site.

They wanted to provide a foolproof server where effective MDM can be performed. Therefore, they went very far to ensure that it should not be messed with. The integrity of services that ensures the effective management of Apple devices are paramount.

Therefore, I think that you try unfairly to move the part of the services and server would not allow you to do so, as the Profile Manager and Wiki should still work after you have set up to host your Web sites (which Apple documentation referred to as virtual hosts).

Thus, you need to configure the "Virtual Hosts" with their root of the document.

  • After upgrading from Vista created a new documents folder and now ignores the original

Last week I updated my computer (which I believe has an update of the graphics card and some windows stuff) using Windows update and left while he was closing. I guess what he finished close, but as I was leaving for the weekend, I can't be 100% sure and this weekend my house loses power at least once.

As for the problem, at windows startup today made first time setup that works normally when you connect to a user account for the first time. Applications of Sidebar by default loading, the default value of the user interface (that I don't use, so it was the first sign), and I found that on the opera opening, all my favorites and settings were gone.

At the opening of my documents, I found that they were completely empty of content, including all hidden folders where all of my settings the user should be.

Navigation around the computer, I find that this will C:\Users\USERNAME\ my documents are still intact, but are ignored, with all the shortcuts leading to my documents redirect me to the 'new' documents folder, which means that for all purposes useful all my user settings for all programs that store data in the documents have been reset.

Maybe someone has an idea of what may have caused this?  Personally, it's one of the strangest bug I've ever seen in any version of windows, and I'm not sure how I should go to deal with it.

    Update:

To check the path of the 'new' documents folder, it appears as C:\Users\TEMP

This means at least all of my original documents folder has not been deleted, but I'm trying to support everything up to an external drive where vista decided to replace my old documents folder entirely.

    Hello

You can perform a restore of the system on the computer to restore the previous settings again.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

For more information follow the link below.

    System Restore: frequently asked questions

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

Once you've done the system restore perform the update of Windows once more and check what is happening.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Draemweaver CS5.5; How to designate a remote server for web site folder

Having a complete website built w / DW CS5.5 who I am trying to load on my GoDaddy hosting account. Site uploaded to the root directory of my GoDaddy account instead of the 'public_html' folder in the folder root. Want to re - download the 'public_html' folder, but there is no apparent provision in DW to point the upload to a specific folder (i.e., public_html) in the root directory of my account.

On my GoDaddy website management page, I can spend my file root GoDaddy files downloaded in the public_html folder subordinate, but have to make an image file/t once (against a folder of files). It's a ton of shots, but more importantly, moving them individually will break all the links, so is not an option.

Any ideas how to target the "public_html" folder in my folder root so I can re - download site here?

Site > new Site or manage Sites.  See screenshots.

Servers: In your case, the root directory is public_html / htdocs not.

You should NEVER see the root directory in your local files Panel.  If you see in the local files Panel, your site is not properly set and you probably duplicated this folder on your server.

  • vCenter SSO new Site

I have a vCenter 5.5 system up and working well.

I tried to install a second SSO server to vCenter as an additional server to a new site. But the installer I kept to give the mythical 1603 error message. If I have installed SSO as a first server vCenter, it installed fine. I tried the file navigation Setup log, but nothing has jumped out to me.

Any suggestions on how to solve this?

    GTG

I logged a call with VMWare on it. Quickly, they diagnosed the problem was with SSL certificates.

However, a quick resolution was not forthcoming. So after nearly a week, I abandoned and destroyed the installation whole vCentre and rebuilt from scratch. Only after having done that, it was all working.

  • How to find 'beginning-dreamweaver-first-site-Web' zip in the local site folder?

    Hallo...

I download this file already. But somehow it does not appear on the "local site" folder when I want to save it as in the tutorial video suggests...

What I have to do something else before you save it. ???

BTW, how to decompress this file...?

    Thank you very much.

To create the folder root of your local site, use the operating system of your computer to create an empty folder and name it what you want.

Download a program such as Winzip (Windows) or Stuffit (for MAC) to extract (unzip) your zip file in the folder root of your site.

Open DW and use your Site Manager to set your new site and enter the local path to the root of your site.

  • Difficulty from a new site in Dreamweaver

Hi, I'm pretty new to all this. I'm trying to launch a new site, but when I click on "site", "new site" and give my site a name and a folder (which is on my desk, just find "new folder"), I'm going to save and I get the error message:

"The root folder you have chosen is within the site 'animated gif test' folder. This may cause certain operations, such as the synchronization to work incorrectly. Still? »

The confusing is that 'animated gif test' is a file I created weeks ago. Any file I selects, apparently to try to save this file, essentially making it so that I can't create a new site. Does anyone know how can I fix?

Do you have a site defined for "test of animated gif? You can remove it from DW (the site definition, no files)?

I find it's usually wrong when people sites on their desktop, especially when they are inexperienced. What I would say that you consider creating a folder called Web Sites in your documents folder. Then each new site you generate would root a folder in the Web Sites folder, for example.

    C:/Documents/websites/website has

    C:/Documents/Sites Web-Site B

    C:/Documents/Sites Web-Site C

    etc.

    Make sense?

  • How to walk away with a new site in DW? [was: EatDreams]

I would like to start all over again. How can I delete what I already have in Dreamweaver? What I did I created a folder and it did not store locally and now I can't use the name of the folder that I received instruction to my class. I am really really new to this and make a few mistakes, I just want to start over.

Start by defining a new folder of the Local Site in DW.  Go to Site > new site.  Indicate DW where to store the files on your new site.

  • "the local site folder" field adds------and emits the error that / is not a valid path component

Attempt to create a new Site, new service Site guest fields for the Site name and Site Local folder.  However, the first time I filled these fields I ended up accidentally a URL with the-character.  Now, whenever I try to fill these fields with the correct URL the DW application adds that-until the end of the field Site Local file and then issues an error message / (Yes, not the same character) is not a valid path component.  I deleted the WinFileCache*.dat file, deleted Internet Explorer saved files and restarted the computer, but the error persists.  Any ideas short of reinstalling DW?

First of all, I would like to back in Nancy on (almost) all aspects of DreamWeaver! She has the knowledge and experience that I can only aspire to.

But let me remind you that it is useless to "Set" your sites in order to use DW! DreamWeaver works just plain file with the previous folder/file structure of your machines operating system.

At one point, I got maybe about 20 active sites running and I use DW to edit and update ALL the. I defined sites... ZERO!

OK, I'm out of the closet! I am a user of non-traditional DW!

As I use it, I don't really know the benefits of 'set' a site. Everything that DW can do by defining a site can also be done otherwise.

So please don't feel that just because you have problems, define a site, that DW can work for you.

DW can open and edit files on any drive on your computer. DW can bind to any other file on your computer with the "Point to File" function in the properties panel (images, Web pages, etc.).

And for the FTP, I suggest you a true FTP program, such as Filezilla or SmartFTP... stronger and more versatile than the built in FTP of DW!

So if for some reason, you feel that you need to "Set" your sites... go!

But also realize that the 'Definition' of a site is not required to take advantage of the majority of the DW.

    Best wishes

What is the easy way with DW to download files of a Web site for later use.  I'll copy and save all these files, so I don't have to do this again.

    1. define your site in DW.  DO NOT EVER USE DW WITHOUT FIRST DEFINING a SITE (at least the local part of the site).  Make sure that you are entering the local information (really just where is the local root folder of the site and the name of the site) and distance information (the location of the remote site and FTP connection information).

    2. after the site is defined, you can now CONNECT to the remote site by clicking on the icon to connect to the files Panel.

    3. Select the name of the folder in the foreground on the REMOTE side of the list of files and RECOVER the files by clicking on the arrow in the files Panel toolbar.

It is simple and easy.  You have now all that has been at the remote site nicely nestled in your folder local root.
