LabVIEW and parallel port

I'm trying to control a motor of OMHT23-400 with a motor drive 3540 M using a Moschip PCI Parallel Port. I created a program to send impulses alternatilng the engine and make it run a desired amount of degrees. The motor in my computer address is/o series BD00-BD07. The same program worked in another computer that has address of the parallel port was Beach e/s-0378-037F. I don't know why, the program operates in the first computer and the same program will not work in this one. Thank you for your help.

PS: the program I wrote is attached below.

  • The use of pins of status (4 outputs) and data (8 entries) of the parallel port pins at the same time.

    Hi all

I'm a newbee in labview. As part of my project work, I need to get 8 digital inputs and send 4 digital outputs.so I think to use the Parallel Port on the pc.i can make use of 8 datalines for entries. I found the site NOR is it possible to use status for output pins. But is it possible to use status for output pins pins and data for entries to the time.please help even me also mention of the measures to take, or keep in mind while implementing.also include any example vi that could be useful.

    Thanks in advance

I would recommed you to NOT use the parallel port. Now a day you have hardly a PC with parallel port. also if you have some old PC then most likely last version of LabVIEW (e.g. 2010) will need a lot more memory RAM and processor.

If you want a solution very very low cost then I would recommend using an arduino to that effect. You can then download LabVIEW Interface for Arduino and start working.

If you continue to use the parallel port, then you could try (I haven't worked with parallel port and have not tested the following solutions)

Download VIPM and then install the enclosed package. It will add the port e/s palette in your labview. and you can use it.

  • parallel port of LabVIEW

I would like to write to a data generator circuit connected to a parallel port.

Is there a driver for parallel port in labview on windows xp?

Examples see LabVIEW 5 only if you are using LabVIEW version 5.

If you are really using LabVIEW 8.2, you should have the example called Parallel Port and loop to write. There is nothing in this VI which refers to older versions of LabVIEW and the only restriction is that he cannot run on Vista.

  • Windows 7, need to force a PCI Parallel Port IRQ 7 and e/s h 0378

I have a Kodak FD300 APS Film Scanner.  It is a device that works only under Windows 95/98.  I kept it Windows would have a compatibility mode that would be necessary and hope me to run it.  Fast forward to today.  I have Windows 7 Ulitmate and I bought a parallel PCI Multi i/o card and using compatibility mode was able to install the software of Scanner Film.  When I try to open it, I get an error, which, according to the documentation of the Scanner, has to do with the fact that he really preferred having IRQ 7 and i/o 0378 h.  But when I look at it in Device Manager, the box to automatically assign parameters, and it is grayed out.  I searched the web and have not found any direction on how I can manually assign this map these settings so I can test completely if the compatibility mode allows me to use the device.  I would like to know shortly before my time runs out to flip a card parallel port I have no other use for this film Scanner.  I would really use it again and to help other owners of FD300 who still use the APS film and this scanner.  Thank you.

If these settings are changed are not a Windows problem, it's a driver problem.  Contact the company for instructions or drivers updated, if none is available, then send it back.

  • Driver files that run the parallel port and USB port

In the system information utility where to look to find the parallel port and the port driver USB, name of file that manages these?

Know the drivers specific, is only half the story.  Why you looking for these drivers?  You have problems with your parallel port or USB port?  This can be caused by problems with drivers or it could be a hardware problem (hard to diagnose a hardware problem without good parts to swap and test).  If you need to update the drivers, you must use device (not msinfo32) Manager - or maybe clicking on an executable file that loads the drivers automatically (depends on how it is sent by download).

Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need drivers (I assume that you want to the parallel port and USB ports), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.  Or run the Setup program of driver provided by the vendor of the computer or the manufacturer of the device.  Be VERY careful get Vista compatible drivers for these devices are difficult to identify (they usually come with the numbers of model or something like that if they can have serial numbers) and using the wrong drivers could make the problem (whatever that is) worse.

If you update the drivers succerssfully and the problem persists, then it is probably a hardware problem.  In this case, contact the manufacturer of your computer for technical support (hopeully it is still under warranty) or bring it to a professional computer repairman (NOT Geek Squad or one of those big store centers because they don't really know what they're doing and charge a lot for this level of expertise) to have the components tested and possibly replaced.

    I hlpe that aid.

    Good luck! Lorien - MCSA/MCSE/network + / A +.

  • LPT1 in the hardware Manager, but not in the virtual machine settings. Parallel port software unable to find LPT. Windows 7, 64-bit and XP virtual

    Hallo,

the forum is full of questions similar to mine and everything seems complete without useful answers some time early last year. I would like to give a try today to see if I get a solution.

Have Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit and installed XP mode to be able to use the chip programming hardware (GALEP-III), which is connected via the Parallel Port. Downloaded XP mode later than yesterday (24.02.2011) Microsoft.

In the XP box, the LPT1 port appears in the hardware Manager. But it does not appear in the settings for the XP mode. The Galep software starts just fine, but can't find the PARALLEL port.

As written above, there are many people who have the same problem and seem to have gotten no solution. One piece of advice I found was to modify the VMC

    LPT1 (378 h-37Fh)

    1

The above did not work. I think it was for a different version of XP-mode.

Then there was advice on LPT need 378 h-37Fh. It's fine with my pc.

Then, there was a Council to stop the 'Print Spool' Service on the host pc. I tried in vain.

So, if there is a solution to my problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

(Note: I'm not interested to connect a printer.) I have an IC programming material that can connect only through a parallel port. It also comes with a security dongle. GALEP III).

    Good bye.

Have you tried in this more specific Forum?

    Virtualization of Windows 7

Under settings is there anything you can do with the section of COM port, if it applies to your problem of material in the first place?

  • remove the ports series and parallel

    Hello

I wonder what that "sport erial and parallel can then be removed" in all these articles on the new vSphere 6 functions is all about. I couldn't remove these VMs ports before, couldn't I? Nobody seems to get into the details, everyone just copies / repeat the same thing on the other.

    Best regards

    Jan

Versions previous hardware could always hardware ports series and parallel within the virtual of the motherboard SuperIO chip, even when there are no virtual serial ports or virtual parallel ports configured for the virtual machine - quietly ports would be "present but disconnected", so they would use more space i/o and IRQ, and always appear to be present in the list of devices in your guest OS IRQ and I/O port map.

With the latest version of the material, if you delete the port virtual series and virtual parallel port, they will be missing... the guest OS won't see all the device, and it consumes no space port of IO and no IRQ.

    I hope this helps!

What about series and PARALLEL to VM mapping in esxi 4?

Nothing. You cannot map serial ports or parallel in ESXi, ESX is required for this type of functionality.

  • Parallel port on Windows 7?

    Hi all

I'm trying to migrate some older software (LV and otherwise - all internal written anyway) who communicates via the parallel port on a Windows 7 (64-bit).  The GPIB based programs all work fine, but I can't find a way to talk to the parallel port.  The machine (HP Pavillion Elite) came without a parallel port, but I found a card PCIe (Startech PEX1P) which adds the value 1.  It appears in the Windows Device Manager, but the address of the resource is listed as D010 rather than the old 378, and it cannot be reconfigured (the folks at Startech says Windows actually assigns the address).   Any suggestions?  Anyone try this yet?

    Thank you

    Michael Tracy

    Synergy microwave

I know this is not guaranteed, but following the actual signs, I (finally!) got the Startech PEX1P card to operate!  Instead of using the Port.VI, I tried to use VISA you writing again, but this time, I updated the land of terminals 11 and 12 by the document OR on the use of the Parallel Port in LabVIEW.

    Michael

    Dennis Knutson says:
Even functions in new versions of LabVIEW with the correct representation for the address lines is not guaranteed to work on your OS and 7.1 is not supported at all. The AccessHW dll must also be written for the OS and it will not happen. I say LabVIEW upgrade and use VISA or stick with an older operating system.

  • I'm waiting times tries to access a parallel port with VISA

I get VISA time-out errors when you try to write to the parallel port. MAX said that the port works and I should be able to communicate with him. Device Manager Windows 2000 also said that the device works. I use writing to the parallel port with VISA example I found on the site of nor. To make it even more confusing (or), it runs on one computer but not another. All software and drivers are the same on both machines. On one who gives me the error of time-out, I am able to write to the parallel port using "accesshw".

What a coincidence. The computer that I had problems with is also a Dell Optiplex. The pins of wiring together the way that you have specified has solved my problem of timeout. The cable I got with just bad has terminals 11 and 12 low attached as indicated on the page with a link to the code sample titled "with the help of VISA to access the Parallel Port in LabVIEW" I know why the original cable worked with a bridge but not a Dell Optiplex. Thanks for the quick fix!

  • Re: Tecra M11 - 15W - Parallel Port LPT1, not found in Device Manager

    Hello

I have Tecra M11 with PA3680E-1PRP Docking Station. BIOS Version 2.9.

Problem is, I want to use the Parallel Port LPT 1, but in anchorage additive dosent device manager there.

    Thanks much for the tips

    Hey Buddy,

What device is connected to the LPT1 port? Usually if you connect a device to LPT port and you turn on you will be asked for drivers. AFAIK the LPT device drivers must be installed before connect you.

Several years ago I also used LPT connection for my printer but one day it didn't work. The problem was only a defective cable. I replaced it with a new one, and then the connection to the printer has been recognized again correctly! :)

  • parallel port does not have the protection key

I just bought a terca M2. When I try to install a software that uses a hardware key (small connector in the parallel port) I get the message that he found no protection key. I have installed this software on other laptops (also with xp pro) and they are all worked well.
I also tried two parallel port settings, but it still does not work.

Please help me solve this problem, otherwise, this laptop will be useless to me.

    Hi robert,.

have you checked that the chip set driver in Device Manager? As far as I know the parallel port is controlled by the entire ship!

Have you checked if the parallel port in your M2 works without any problem (for example, a parallel printer) to exclude a defect of material! If there is a material defects you might bring the laptop to a Toshiba service for a short health check partner!
