NB100 - what is BIOS v2.0 released?

When will be released BIOS v2.0 for european NB100 (PLL10E). For NB100 of American (PLL10U), you can download it from the support site.

Version 2.00 - 2009-07-08
o Fixed: WOL does not work after 2 ~ 3 seconds.
o Update: SLP2.1 for WINDOWS 7.
o added one additional reset in the community, when the user presses the power button on S4/S5 for the WOL issue.

It should be very soon, give it a week or two.

Win7 on a Netbook would be interesting. I wouldn't bother even with Vista ;)

When I started my NB100 I noticed a further beep as he started Windows. When I tried to access the Firefox drop down a stream of 8 appeared in the window. The same thing happens in the laptop.

I connected an external keyboard to determine whether it was a malfunction of the keyboard, but the problem was exactly the same. On the computer is shut down, he issued a stream of beeps until I clicked the close button. I restarted it and you press the f keys to access the BIOS without success. The system comes to Windows.

Any suggestions as to what I could then try other that take the machine into a bin, would be very appreciated.

  • NB100 - what are the settings in the displays and graphics

I decided to try to plug my monitor for my NB100 and messed up the settings on the page of graphics and screens. This seems to have had an effect on the last screen of boot of Ubuntu and the Netbook Office, which now runs very slow! The classic Office seems to work very well.

Could you get it someone please let me know all of their parameters in the Applications-> other-> dialog graphics and screens.

Also, I will have no joy, what makes a recovery from USB. I made a .iso on the recovery disc and put it on the NB100 HD. When I run unetbootin it runs a few seconds and does not all the files on the USB key. Any ideas anyone?

  • NB100: upgrading the BIOS to 1.90 in Windows XP edition family, now Ubuntu freezes on login

As the said line topic. I've updated the BIOS on our NB100 to 1.90 in Windows XP, and now Linux (ubuntu) freezes on login. We organize one machine dual boot and WXP still works fine. Ubuntu freezes completely when you open a session and full charge of gui.

I suspect that the network hardware is the issue.

Any ideas? The bios can be restored to an earlier version? I have not found on this site.

    Dan

Perhaps a BIOS setting was handed to the default or changed.

Try to set the SATA mode in mode "Compatibility" or "IDE".

This update can not damage the laptop?

    This update is a risk?
P.S.: I use Windows Xp SP2, Vista not.

    Thank you

    Hello

The update of the BIOS is only risky If you would use incompatible BIOS or use a wrong update procedure.

If you have installed XP on your computer A200 laptop then a BIOS upgrade to the XP version would be desirable because of one of the main reasons.
Without the version of BIOS XP your FN buttons will not work.

So if you want to use the FN keys, the update of the BIOS XP is not necessary.
But if you want to use the FN keys, you will need to update the BIOS to the XP version.

  • What is the difference between release and deployment

    Hello

I'm of the opinion that a VM models can be published and deployed at the same time. My question is what is the difference between these two options?

    Thank you!

Means published in order to be deployed in a configuration

    Resources deployed under tension

You're right, you do not publish before you can deploy (voltage) a model for making changes.

  • Is that what anyone has successfully downloaded the last 2 BIOS, 40 - WIN for the P100-188?

The reason I ask is because when I try to download the file, it keeps coming up empty, I'm not comfortable with update by using the traditional method, because it seems that more things can go wrong during the process, and Toshiba recommends using the method of windows anyway.

I don't understand, the graphics driver rated the latest version for my machine is 8.3.2.0, the one on my machine is 8.4.0.0, precise numbering convention the version I have installed is later, then how to version 8.3 is listed?

Plus, when you download a new driver or BIOS, they do not have all the details on what the update fixes issues or addresses, they hide this information from us or just assuming that we are all psychic?

Now they seem to display empty files so I know we are all human and we all make mistakes, but everybody works for this site carefully? I sent an email to ForumModeration October 17 not being able to post as he rode as "profanity or inappropriate language" even if the offending text is a link to a web page! 9 days later I'm still waiting on an answer, or even an acknowledgement.

I'm sorry for ranting a bit but I can't help feeling that it would be easier to get blood out of a stone to an information of anyone.

    Hello

Strange. Discover min ago I tried to download the BIOS 2.4WIN but I was not able to decompress this file. I think there must be a zip error. Maybe it will be fixed in the netx two or three days. Let's hope

In any case, I also looked for more information on the update of the BIOS, and the release of details but it seems there is no more information on changes in the BIOS.
But if you click more info to the right of each update you will find some descriptions. You will also find the Toshiba BIOS update Description.

I think you should read this document before you start the BIOS updates.

I also get the profanity or inappropriate language message and I guess that this happens because of filtering that controls the message before post in the forum.
Sometimes it s a little annoying because I have to change the text, but I can live with them. (B-) be cool

  • What the correct update BIOS for my Lenovo R61?

    Main question:

I have a Lenovo R61 15.4 "laptop computer screen with IEEE. 1394  What is the good BIOS update version for my system?

    * The version on the Web the matrix file BIOS Lenovo page, 7KET72WW (1.22 - 1, 06), seems wrong and outdated compared to this page:

    http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache: jqsAECxdXDoJ:www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68183.html+7OET24WW&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us

which indicates that it should be 7OETC1WW (2.21). **

    Background:

This Lenovo R61 laptop has always been slow and difficult, with performance much worse than my old XP system with worst record.  Originally, I tried to reinstall Vista to remove the useless factory software I thought may be responsible for slowing down the system.  This was the beginning of many problems.  I had added a stick of 1 GB 2 brand new RAM for the system, and I couldn't properly reinstall Vista with the ThinkVantage tools.  When I contacted the support, they told me it was due to the system are different from the original specifications (additional RAM).  It's ridiculous, but also to correct.  In addition, my Windows key at the bottom of the laptop sticker was scratched and unreadable, directly from the factory.  Support told me that the key is not useful or necessary because the only way to reinstall Vista is using the ThinkVantage tools.  Once again, ridiculous, but after removing my extra RAM, I was able to reinstall Vista.  This did not help the performance, even with the additional software deleted.

    On the current problem:

I have experience several daily BSOD. Analysis of accident of Vista generally points to the USB driver, sometimes the network adapter driver and often does not return anything.

I want to update my BIOS, but I don't know which version to use.  According to the information of the system, my system model is 8932CTO. The current system BIOS is the 7OET24WW version (1.03).  I did a search on Google for this BIOS and found the following cached page:

    [ http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache: jqsAECxdXDoJ:www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68183.html+7OET24WW&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us] It lists the following:

This version supports the following systems:
    -ThinkPad R61 - 15.4-inch wide screen models
    Machine types: 8930 8933, 8934, 8935, 8936, 8937
-ThinkPad R61i - model widescreen 15.4 inches with IEEE 1394
    Computer type: 8932

The latest BIOS for my system model number is indicated as:

The first version of this list, 7OET24WW (1.03) matches the BIOS on my system, which indicates that I have to upgrade to the current version, 7OETC1WW (2.21).

This page shows that my system model supports IEEE 1394 (Firewire), and of course, the Device Manager shows a RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller, even if my laptop is not a firewire port!  Then...

QUESTION: why does my laptop have an IEEE 1394 controller, but no port?  It is used to something else? Safely disable the controller driver if it is pointless?

The same page also lists the history of BIOS for thise models, and the current BIOS version does not match the name on the matrix of the file BIOS Lenovo - ThinkPad page here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=BMOE-3VAM8Y#r

My computer is a R61 widescreen 15.4 inches with IEEE 1394 (at least the controller).  NONE OF THESE VERSIONS OF BIOS MATCHES THE OTHER PAGE, I FOUND, WHICH SEEMS MORE ACCURATE!  Also, only one of the many, many BIOS versions presented on this page are from 2008.  So the page of the Lenovo BIOS file matrix totally out of date or what?

What version of BIOS should I use to upgrade my system, and what else can I diagnose these BSOD and performance problems?

Agotthelf is correct; 2.21 is the latest version of the BIOS, and to install it, you must burn it to a CD as an ISO file. I was too lazy to do.

My R61, too, is the 15.4-inch (1680 x 1050) model, but unlike you, I have XP Professional and a 1394 a miniport. The reason your system shows Firewire, it's Ricoh Board which controls the 4 - 1 or 5-in-1 memory card reader includes the R61 Firewire controller. I guess it's convenient is you decide, as I do, to add a CardBus (or, as the case may be, an ExpressCard) with full major ports 1394 a(1) FireWire, 1394b (FireWire 2), or both.

  • Satellite L670-143 - new BIOS available, but what's new?

Since yesterday I get a notice from Toshiba Bulletin Board that a new version of the BIOS is available, version 2.30 - WIN dated from 14/02/12.

Given that I am trying hard and wonder if Toshiba allows users to change the Wifi card by default, I'm interested in what this BIOS update is needed for, if it wasn't for allowing users to install their preferred Wifi adapter I'm totally happy with my current version of BIOS and won't update something that brings something of new or improve anything.

For this purpose: is their any page where people can find out what is new in a new update of the BIOS?
Everything we always get is compressed form. Exe and prechewed message "this update of the Bios adds increased system functionality" on the page to download... but nothing concrete information.

    Hello Moose

In one thing, I agree with you: don t change the BIOS if there is no former radical problem or the system in general. Many people here have reported on the various problems after BIOS update so if you are happy with your laptop and if everything goes perfectly don t change anything.

Problem is that on the European download page you will find information on the update of the BIOS. In other words there is nothing new in the latest version of the BIOS.
It is interesting that Toshiba US offers you this info so I m me where difference between offered things in US and Europe is to ask. I m not an expert for this stuff but there may be reasons relating to the protection of law or customers. I put t know.

What you can do if you have a little time, is to visit the US page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp > download, find a similar pattern with the same BIOS update and check if you can find useful information here.

At the end once more: don t change anything, if everything works well. I have 2 years old Satellite P500 and use with BIOS and original recovery image. It works perfectly. Best Toshiba laptop I've had over the last 10 years.

  • Update problem 6.70 BIOS with Satellite Pro C850-172

I have two problems with the update the BIOS (the 1 is more important then the 2nd one):

    1. in the attempt to install the BIOS Update 6.70 - WIN (29/11/13) it is said that:
"The version of the ROM file is the same as that of the BIOS.
and it stops. In the DOS window, it shows a sentence:
"NOT 8 platform Windows, using Windows 7 update... ».
I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit system but recently there has been an important automatic update done for her.
I'm lost. I can do to update the BIOS?

    2. at the beginning, he says that Flash process will be terminated and I need to "contact the OEM BIOS engineer to add the location of NV storage by interface HISII". But if I want to risk I can continue etc.

Previously, I took the risk and the update went well.
But is it possible to contact BIOS OEM engieneer?

    Hello

    > When you attempt to install the BIOS Update 6.70 - WIN (29/11/13) it is said that:
    > "The version of the ROM file is the same as that of the BIOS.

What is the current version of BIOS that is on your laptop?
If the BIOS is already up-to-date, the BIOS flash process will be interrupted.

    > «NOT 8 platform Windows, using Windows 7 update...» ».
I'm not quite sure about the meaning of this information, but it looks like the BIOS update was released for Windows 8 system and probably his need to improve the system from Windows 7 to Windows 8 to be able to Flash the BIOS m

By the way: why you want to update the BIOS? Just because the new version is available?
Please note that the update of the BIOS does not improve the performance of the laptop, but fixes some problems. In case your laptop runs successfully, the update of the BIOS is not very important

Unfortunately, you won't find any detail information on updates.
I also try to find more information about the driver and the updates to the BIOS but nothing!
