NB100 - where is numlock?

I worked with a NB100 today and discovered that the keys j, k and l product numbers 1, 2 and 3.
Even with all the keys that surrounds them. These keys were tiny figures on the leading edge of the keys, so I pressed on the function key, and of course, that produces j, k and l (etc.), BUT while the function key is pressed. Being a guy very smart, searched everywhere, hired the keyboard for the NumLock key, which I thought was accidentally. Hmm, not of this key.

The possible combinations with the function key that could turn this feature on or off are of course endless, but I tried Fn N Fn Alt N Fn # and many others, and is not disappointment in my prediction that it would give no results. :-(
I've looked everywhere in this forum with his useless search facility (NB100 numlock or NB100 digital returns over 50 clicks that have nothing to do with either numlock to the NB100) and we found nothing obviously, otherwise I wouldn't ask.

The owner told me it wasn't like that yesterday, so of course, several of these tiny keys got pressed at the same time unintentionlly and something switched on. Can someone tell me please how to turn this OFF? If this isn't a toggle (he transforms same key combination ONE and OFF) can someone tell me how this poor guy lit, so it can avoid this in the future?

Maybe I'm all wet and has nothing to do with some mysterious combination that led to a permanent state of NumLock or there is a NumLock key hidden somewhere on the keyboard. So please tell me where it is, because two people has spent several minutes to examine all keys (and their leading edges) looking for IT... nothing helps.

If it's a problem of firmware (like the missing keys), where I download the firmware update the problem into oblivion?

Help me, please.

David

Did you try FN F11 to disable numlocks? It has a small icon on it that looks like a calculator...

    Hello!

I completely agree with Akuma. All the spare parts of equipment such as keyboard, RAM, HARD drives and all the other stuff you can get from an authorized service provider.
If you don't know where is the nearest ASP in your country, you should look on the Toshiba site. There you can search for it.

An alternative you can buy parts on eBay.

  • NB100: Where the official 3G for Win7 drivers?

Toshiba has released all drivers for Windows 7, but still no driver 3G official!

P.S. drivers for NB200 not 100% compatible and windows sometimes loses 3G modem after sleep/hibernate mode.

We need 3G official support for Windows 7 in NB100.

Can you please send us your NB100 model number?

  • Re: Where is the CMOS battery in Toshiba NB100?

    Hi guys,.

I disassembled my nb100 and have been to look at the motherboard for centuries, trying to find the CMOS battery.
Basically, my netbook is not in the bios, it is just stuck on the Toshiba start screen.
so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery to see if that could fix the problem.

So if someone could please tell me where I could the cmos battery?

    > Basically my netbook will not go into the bios, it remains just stuck on the home screen Toshiba.
    > so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery too see if that would solve the problem.

I doubt that this will help you solve this problem
First and foremost the CMOS is soldered to the motherboard (in most cases).
I think there must be a problem with a motherboard if the laptop is unable to pass the POST (power on self test).
Basically, all that might be affected; RAM, etc.

I think you should check the RAM first, if that is not enough, then an ASP should try to reflash the BIOS, otherwise the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • E420-where is my NumLock key?

Man! I see the function keys (F1 to F12 and how to toggle to change the volume, brightness, etc.)

I see that Insert, Delete, Home, End, Backspaces, and all the rest. But where the hell is the NumLock key? Anyone know?

Once found, can I hold the Alt key and use the numbers of the lines to create foreign characters (as I would if the keyboard and a keyboard with 10-key?)

    Max

    Hi maxresti,

Normally you can download the latest version of the BIOS. This means that you won't find any older versions on the Toshiba site.

To get the old version, you should contact a service provider authorized in your country. Guys can reflash the old version in a few minutes.
On the Toshiba site, you will find a list of them where they are.

    Good luck! :)

  • NB100-12 a - where to find the instructions of recovery?

I would like to know how I can recover my computer when I first bought it? The instructions that appear on this site are not for XP I do something wrong?

Also how I put my user name and password for the system, I don't know how to enter this section on my computer that the user name and password have never been and I'm scared, I might need to use in recovery

    Thanks for any help

    Hi alleycat72,

The exact description of recovery can be found in your user manual, * Chapter 3 to start the system recovery options *.

To restore the original settings, connect an external CD/DVD drive to the USB port. Then, insert the Toshiba recovery disc and the start-up of this environment. Then follow the instructions on the screen, everything that s! :)

  • NB100 - cannot boot from USB pendrive

    Hello

I wanted to try out Ubuntu netbook remix, so I downloaded and it loaded in my key USB of SB after making the md5sum test. Then I fixed on the boot order so the usb port would start first and rebooted my Toshiba NB100 with the pen drive inserted. When I start my netbook the first screen where you can press F12 and F2 for BIOS freeze for about 2 min then start windows.

I use a Kingston DataTraveler 4 GB USB key, I don't think it's the USB because as its bootable on my other laptop.

    Thank you.

    Hello!

This only happens with the USB or without USB too?

Have you tried another USB key? At the moment for me it sounds like the USB key is not compatible with laptops or isn't working properly.
Can you please try another USB key?

  • NB100-11R - WiFi modem disappeared

    Hello

I am a complete novice when it comes to Linux/Ubuntu - so I hope someone can help me in relatively simple language here.

I have a Ubuntu running of the NB100-11R.

After a recent update ubuntu my wifi Modem has 'disappear' from the GUI.

In short, since the GUI administration / network in the Connections tab Services I now only see the Options for "Setting up a connection" & "Connection point to point" where I already had a WIFI option.

I guess it is something like a driver who need to reinstall, but I can't find the details very grateful if anyone has indications.

    Kind regards

  • NB100 - OS uses only 500 MB of RAM - 1 GB memory total

I spent the NB100 to 1 GB memory, but I have seen that the OS never exceeds 500 MB despite the use of many resources.
The CPU very quickly gets to 100% and work becomes very slow.
On my other computers open the same amount of firefox windows are for example the memory usage much more.
I think there are some limits to memory max usage in applications and I wanted to ask you if there is a way to combat it.

Another problem is that the system monitor display completely different values than the high command and I was wondering what is the right. I downloaded several other system monitors and all gave them the same results as the system monitor. Contrary to what I wrote above, the top shows a nearly 100% memory usage, but him amount by the application has not changed (again below 500 MB). > I tried with vista and it loaded and working, but I can't find any drivers for it!
Win XP and Win 7 drivers are available for the NB100.
Vista went from that Win 7 is the best OS that have been released by MS I recommend using Win 7 instead of Vista
However, you can also try to use the Win 7 on Vista OS drivers in some cases that it works
