  You can try to do the following to reset the Windows Update components.

  1 stop in the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the Automatic Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:

  a. click on start / all programs/accessories. Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "run as Administrator". Click on 'Continue' in the UAC prompt.

  b. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

  Thank you for all your help and patience, I managed to get in touch with Microsoft via online chat service and discovered that the copy of windows that I had installed on my ssd re was an OEM copy that could only be installed on my drive home, it disabled and blocked as soon as I changed it for my ssd.
