NB550D - creating an Image and recovery

My laptop is a Toshiba NB550D according to disk management the following is my start-up:

Recovery partition Active 1.46 GB
7.98 gb main partition
224.23 initialization, page file, crash dump, primary assets

If I use a disk imaging program like Macrium or Acronis to back up only the partition start (224.23 gb) and then subsequently restoring it am I at risk of harming the recovery Partitions.

Hello

I put t think that the use of 3rd party software image would affect the image of Toshiba HDD but in your case I would recommend to also create a disc of recovery or recovery USB flash stick.

It security to have a backup on a key additional flash or disk in case something goes wrong with the computer s portable HARD drive.

I hope that someone will share a proven process. To return to Windows 8 HP software is still in the partition of my HARD drive.

  • HP Mini 110-3130NR and the new hard drive - how to create an image and use it?

I want to replace the current hard drive to my HP Mini 110-3130NR of a new SSD.

Ideally, I'd like to copy the disc hard integer on the SSD and then just swap hard disks (create a picture of the current hard drive work in the SSD).

Otherwise, I have an external USB hard drive, so I could save the contents of the original hard drive and restore the image in the SSD. The problem is that HP Mini doesn't have a DVD player/burner, and I fear that it does not start via a USB device.

Any help is welcome. Thank you.

    Respect!

OK, all these programs did not help ast all, they still have some problems with SSDS (I tried an Intel X 25-M SSDSA2MH080G2K5 and an OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G).

This is so the fix for the problem, all you need a 4 GB flash drive.

In Windows XP, Vista or seven plug the flash drive into the computer, open a command window (type cmd in the search) and type:

    DiskPart

In the window that opened type:

    list disk

Find the number corresponding to your USB key and type the following commands, replacing X with the number corresponding to your flash drive:

    Select disk X
    clean
    create the primary partition
    Select partition 1
    assets
    format fs = NTFS
    Assign
    output

Then insert a DVD Windows Seven of INTAL, open the command prompt and navigate to the "Startup" folder in the Windows 7 DVD.
Starting inside this folder, run the command:

Bootsect/nt60 W: - replacing the W with the letter assigned to your flash drive.

After that, simply copy the entire contents of the Windows 7 Installation DVD to flash drive, drive to the computer with the newly installed SSD and start from the flahs player.

    Enjoy!

  • Access to MY Backup and Recovery Drive in Tecra A3-S611

    Hey you:

I lost my recovery CD and the XP operating system.
I still have my recovery HARD drive disk in my hard drive but I can't make a CD.
How can I access my HDDRecovery and make a CD with it?

    I appreciate your quick response.
    Thank you

  • Satellite L350-170: creating the image of the partition backup system

New here so first of all, Hello to all.

Need some advice if possible please.
I just got a new laptop L350-170 with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I went thro' the installation process and created with the program toshiba recovery disks but also make the thro' the post.

What I want to do now is create an image of the full backup ' c' drive now that I have installed additional programs and adjust settings to get the laptop how I want it.

I've tried acronis true image, but laptop won't boot from the restore cd, even tho ' cd/dvd is set in the bios as "first boot.
Says it can't find the "boot partition" and assume that it is something with the toshiba restore program not be circumvented.

Is there a 'ghost' type program that will allow me to create an image, and then start the disk in order to restore everything from the created image and therefore not lose everything I installed carefully?

I suppose that, if I try to use the toshiba program once again, it will only reproduce the original installation.
    I hope someone can advise.

    TIA

    Hello!

The Toshiba recovery disc sets only the laptop back to the factory settings. It s not a program backup like Acronis, but with the recovery disc you have installation of Windows with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

What version of Acronis True Image do you use? I use version 11 and I have no problem on my laptops and PCs. It works perfectly.
Maybe you should do a update.

Have you set the SATA mode in the BIOS to AHCI or compatible? Maybe you need a driver SATA when you have defined it AHCI, but I think in its new version of Acronis you t need a n.

I hope I could help a bit and if you have problems, make me know it.

    Good bye

  • Rescue and recovery 3 CD...

I created my Rescue and Recovery disks and am about to reset the hard drive at the factory, so I have a new facility.  I was wondering if this would be a time that I could get a new hard drive and use the rescue and recovery disks and get a new larger hard drive.

Currently I have 160 GB drive, but it would be great if I could spend at 1 to at the moment.

    Thanks in advance.

Go ahead and get a new drive, keep your original intact in case of emergency, disks that you are going to install the new drive to factory with a service partition State at the end of it about 4/5 GB in size, the rest is up to you.

  • Repeater, Image and Web services

    Hello

I have a FLEX 3 application controls web that displays images using the following POWER cable: tiles, Repeater and Image (Image inside Repeater, which lies in the control of the tile). This works fine if I create an ArrayCollection collection during initialization and binds the ArrayCollection collection with my coach. The problem comes when I try to use a Web service call to recover my data. The Web service returns correctly my data, I put in the ArrayCollection collection. The web application and then freezes and never displays my pictures. If instead of filling the ArrayCollection collection, I create dynamically Image controls and add them to the control of the tile, then it works fine. It's only when I try to use the Repeater that whole mess. Any ideas on what is happening here? Here are some of my code:

  • Drive recovery system image and error 0 x 80070017

    Hello

I have a new laptop Sony Vaio 15 did run Windows 8.  The only thing installed since the English language pack (it's a portable Japanese), as well as the updates of Windows of ~ 45 that are currently available.  He is running Trend Micro Security Center (I have initially well could hold a part of progress with my image system recovery disc).

I tried to use the recovery of files of Windows 7 system to create a system image.  However, I keep getting the error message "the backup failed.  Data error (cyclic redundancy check).  (0 x 80070017). "I tried to save the system image on a recordable Blu - ray 25 GB disk.  If I do the same exact process on a Windows 7 machine I am able to create the image of the system, which would extend many Blu - ray discs.

On the same screen for the creation of the image of the system, it has also an option to use the Windows backup utility.  However, when you save the removable backup media (DVD/Blu-ray) the program keeps me save an image of the system because "scheduled backup of the system image is not allowed on removable devices.  You can try to save a system image unique to this unit by clicking on create a system image in Windows 7 file recovery Control Panel. "It also goes on to say"other people might be able to access your backup on this type of situation.  The current system doesn't support setting permissions of security on the files.  Thus, your backed up files are accessible by anyone with physical access to the device. »

Management of Windows 8 basically says that in order to recover the OEM/Windows partition, you must use a USB 32 GB.  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-USB-recovery-drive

Is it possible to create a copy of the partition system/Windows on removable media (DVD/Blu-ray) as there are for Windows 7?  Or is the only way to restore the system after a disk crash HARD total is to create the image of the system on a USB flash drive?

    Thanks for the help,

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

The 0 x 80070017, error you provided we usually means bad media.

I suggest trying to use another drive and check if that helps.

The system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files.

You can view the Microsoft Help article to create a System Image using the command line.

  • Rescue and recovery under 64 bit creates a 32-bit Windows 7, why?

Hello. I have an x 201 with W7 Pro (64-bit) OEM Lenovo. I replaced the hard so I use Rescue and Recovery to have a clean install of W7 and the X 201 good pilots.

What I did to run enhanced backup and restore and then via Advanced Rescue and Recovery, I launched the option "create rescue media. I followed the instructions and created a rescue media USB that as far as I understand leaves my X 201 as it was when it left the factory.

I booted from the USB without problems, restore the system and to my surprise it installed Windows 7 but 32-bit 64-bit not. And no drivers (no video, no network, no USB/PCI). I'm lost here. Why is installed 32-bit when all items generated under Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and what about drivers? Why it has not installed drivers?

Looking at Enchaced backup and restore in my original installation icon, he says "Lenovo Enchanced backup and restore (32-bit)", so I don't know if that creates only the 32 bit instead of 64-bit OS.

I'll now factory recovery disc option allows to see if that solved the problem.

At this point, I thought that icon factory recovery disc was the same as the use of "create rescue media", because the two pretend to leave the hard drive in the same way, it was when the laptop has left the factory.

If someone could clarify the difference between the two: 'factory recovery disk'vs'create rescue media', and also why the last of them creates a 32-bit OS rather than the 64-bit what it was supposed to create

I will report how it goes with the task of recovery factory disc that I use now.

    Hello

Quite interresting situaiton and to be honest not usual.

However, what should happen, once you have created a rescue media, it's that you should have on the end, a single bootable media, using which you can save, etc.

However, this support of rescue should not contain any OS, it should be only a boneless bootable media. The operating system and the rest should be on a separate stand.

In the case where you had the original x 64 Bit OS, then using the recovery CD (as you confirmed as) should have restored the system to the State, as you received it.

I don't understand, why it needs to change the version of the OS to another, when you initially x64Bit.
Maybe some background info would be useful.

    See you soon

  • Reference Dell backup and restore is unable to create a DVD of recovery on Windows 8

    Dear Dell,

I am creating recovery discs "Dell backup and Recovery application" but when I was asked to insert the second DVD, the optical drive keeps rejecting DVD. The application will not continue to burn the second DVD and seems to be frozen. I tyied with different DVD brands/manufacturers and also-/ + r unfortunately. The question remains. I could find this 593906 article published 21-01 - 2013 (http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&docid=593906&doclang=en&l=en&s=dhs link). Although I did the updates, I'm still not able to create recovery discs!   File: after having inserted the Disc 3 application gives the message "Dbr.exe-" not found disk and stays there and rejects the DVD.  I spoke with the Greek team of Dell. I was told that warranty does not cover the support of sw even if my unit is less than a week. Furthermore, I learned that although "Dell backup and restore" application said THAT DELL is not actually a Dell product so they can't support. They my proposed to use the recovery of files from windows 7 place (which needs at least 8 DVD!). As you can understand it's a workaround and not a Solution.

I hope that someone from Dell will consider the issue and to come back with a precise answer and a permanent solution.   (Model: inspiron 15 3521). Thank you

    Hi ylikonomos,

You can try to uninstall and reinstall Dell Backup and Recovery Manager and Dell Support Center. Follow these steps:

    • Press the Windows key + 'X' on the keyboard.
    • Select "Programs and features" in the context menu that appears in the lower left corner.

    • In the list of applications, uninstall Dell Backup and Recovery Manager and Dell Support Center.

Below, check the version of the BIOS installed on the laptop. Press Windows + "R" key, type msinfo32 and press ENTER.

Identify the version of the BIOS. If A04, the update of the BIOS is not necessary. If this isn't the case, update the BIOS. Before flashing the BIOS please check this following:
    * No external device (printer, USB stick, SD card, DVD) must be connected.
    * All other programs should be closed and saved documents.
    * The power adapter and the battery must be connected during this process. The battery must be 10% or more than 10% of charge.

Here is the link for the update to the BIOS: http://dell.to/VBwSAh. The laptop restarts after this update.

Visit this link: http://dell.to/VBz1fr and click Dell Support Center. Download and install the application.
Once done, visit this link: http://bit.ly/UUjIs0 and install Dell Backup and Recovery Manager. Restart the computer and check if you are able to create the recovery media.

Please, try the following steps and share status.

Error: 0x8078002A occurs when you back up to a 2.5 or 3.0 TB drive in Windows 7 backup and restore

    Answer ID 6618 | Last updated 19/05 / 2011-->

    Problem:
If you are using Windows 7 backup and restore with a drive to 2.5 or 3.0, the backup fails with an error code of (0x8078002A).

    Cause:
This problem is caused by a problem with the Windows 7 backup and restore when using disks with logical sector of 4 K sizes, which are found on WD 2.5 TB and larger external hard drives. This is different from a 'Advanced Format' drive (AFD) that use 4 K physical sector sizes. Readers of AFD should not cause this problem.

    Solution:
It is always possible to use a disc, as long as you don't need to use the drive with Windows XP. Using the quick WD Formatter tool, select factory default configuration to reformat the drive.

Warning: This tool will erase all data on your drive, in order to take the necessary precautions.

After formatting the drive mode factory default , the reader will be usable in Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, the drive will not be recognized in Windows XP. It is the only way to get Windows 7 Backup and Restore to work properly.
