    Hey Buddy,

Google can answer this question too... ;)

There are a lot of diagnostics for your HARD drive. You can use the Drive Fitness Test of Hitachi for example. It creates a boot disk where you can boot from to start the test.

An alternative look at HD Tune. It s Windows based but can check bad sectors too. In addition it allows to test the speed of the HARD drive.

  • TOSHIBA hard drive to Northgate 000601002 computer

R2D2 answered Penjamin (May 2007) on a TOSHIBA hard drive for a computer satellite 000601002. I need to replace the 30 MB Toshiba 000601002 hard drive 03327R in Northgate computer. Where can I find a replacement drive? I guess that a 30 MB to 60 MB will work very well.

To be honest, Northgate computer don't thing not big words for me, but if you want made disk HARD update contact the manufacturer.
They can offer you information on the limits of upgrade and compatible parts.

If there are standard IDE HDD inside you can enhance it with any other similar HARD drive. It doesn't have to be the same.
Just be sure that the capacity will be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite P200 - need a new hard drive controller

    Hello

You can not replace the HARD disk controller.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

But are you sure you bought a good HDD?
Where the HARD drive is not visible; in the BIOS or operating system?

  • Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?

Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?  I had used a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition, 500 GB, for the past 7 years.  It kept blinking and blinks so I unplugged probably too old.

Now, I'm wondering if I should get another external hard drive or if iCloud does automatic backups.  I'm not too knowledgeable on these things and would appreciate help.

I use a Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite.

    Thank you!

Yes, you need an external hard drive to back up your Mac.  iCloud or iCloud library reader are not a backup of your data and documents.  Are the copy job. Get a new external drive with enough storage - Lear three times the size of the internal drive of your Mac and then set up Time Machine.

  • Why my Dell Vostro have a Toshiba hard drive?

April 25, 2015, I contacted Dell warranty on my hard-drive on my Vostro 3750. They ran diagnostics, concluded it was defective (Test read HardDrive-Targeted; CFI:N; KYHD:N; DD:N; Dr:N). on 27 April, they sent a replacement under the service request number 910355792. So when it happened, I've swapped disks and returned the defective one. Now fast forward to December when I was able to install Windows 10 Pro. Site Web de Microsoft had only a few requirements to run, mainly RAM, graphics processing and an OS to date start with. I didn't know that Dell had a list of computers that were not to be tested with W10. The installation went along fine and let him update the necessary drivers, have pre-installed just enough so he can start and connect to the internet to update. I was unaware that one of the device drivers to settle and my computer seems to work very well. Then about two weeks ago, he started to slow down. I noticed it would begin to freeze a little bit, but he would always thaw quickly. Then a week ago, I wrote a document of night (College Sophomore so this computer is pretty much my life) and closed the lid for the night. Now, the battery life is already pretty bad, so needless to say it's dead during the night, but when I went to turn it back on it took forever, it lights up. Easily 10-15 minutes just to get to the login screen. I unlocked it and it brought back to my office to plug it back in on my desk, where it remains almost religiously. I then got on Dell Support, which is where I finally found the 3750 has not been tested with W10 and ran a quick diagnosis that says the hard disk, which has been listed as a TOSHIBA is in critical condition and must be replaced immediately. At this point, I had to see what was going on, so I opened the Device Manager went to disks and here, he said that my hard drive is a TOSHIBA MQ01ACF050. Well, that's weird. So I checked my event viewer to make sure and it was indeed migrated, configured and started when I allowed and installed W10 in December. There was also an unknown device in the event log which is how I discovered the missing driver. Then to top it all, the administrative events log had 16 000 events from the moment I installed W10 until today, almost everything else just tell Harddisk0 DR0 has a bad block. duh. So I'm saving all our important documents to an external hard drive and I guess I will be W8 but what I really want to know is why guaranteed Dell send me a Toshiba hard drive. Any advice on any of these issues would be sincerely appreciated.

There are only three manufacturers left portable players - WD, Seagate and Toshiba.  Almost all system vendors use each of them.

  • Tecra M2 - I need a new HARD drive compatible

Hi, I just bought a 2nd hand Tecra M2, but the hard drive will be replaced soon because it is endangered. I found a hard drive on ebay that says it's compatible, it says in the title for the hard drive

    "Toshiba Laptop Tecra TE S2 S1 M3 M2 M1 hard disk 120 GB.
    (Here's a direct link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toshiba-120GB-Laptop-Hard-Drive-Tecra-TE-S2-S1-M3-M2-M1_W0QQitemZ230361558318QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Dri ves_Storage_Internal? hash = item35a29e6d2e & _trksid = p 3286.m63.l1177)

but there seems to be so many models of m2 that I don't know if this drive will be compatible with each other. I'm a novice, if you have not already guessed! So, I would be very grateful for the advice. Model No. my particular M2. is PTM20E-01KK3-FR

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

For the Tecra M2 you need a HARD drive with IDE interface, and this means that the HDD from eBay should also work on your laptop properly.

As far as I know the Tecra M2 may due the only handful of 28-bit LBA limit s HDD up to 128 GB 120 GB HARD drive should work. :)

    Welcome them

  • TE2100 - do I need a specific HARD drive?

Hey all, I have benn having some problems with my te2100.
After putting in a large number of hours set up with ubuntu 8.10 it was great to work for a few months.

Then he had an adjustment while I was doing something fairly tedious and hard drive seems to be stuffed.

I tried another hard disk of 40 GB, but it was not recognized when you try to install windows xp and ubuntu.

    * Do I need a type of hard drive for my toshiba specidic? * I noticed the 160 GB drives on ebay for sale, to TE2100 specific advertising and some other models of toshiba.

    Hello!

This pretty old laptop is equipped with a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can use a HARD drive up to 128 GB s or let say a 120 GB HARD drive.
Here you can read interesting information on this limitation: [www.48bitlba.com]

Normally, you can choose each up to 120 GB HARD drive with IDE interface.
Have what HDD 40 GB you tried? I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi hard drives.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200 - 196 how can I restore the Partition from Toshiba hard drive?

I need to restore my hard drive to factory default.

I tried now pressed the 'Zéro' key at startup, also tried one at a time, hold down F2 and F8, F10, F12, but none of them put me in the Recovery Wizard.

I searched the help files on the PC and online but nothing helped.
Someone at - it an idea how I can get into the recovery partition it please?

    Hello

You should be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery as described in http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

Please note: this will not work if your laptop works with the factory settings. If you have used clean OS installation HDD recovery no longer unavailable. For the installation of factory settings, you must use disk recovery DVDs.

Everything must be described in the document s user manuals.

  • External Toshiba HARD drive not recognized on USB 2.0 ports, but only on USB 3.0

    Hello

I have a Toshiba drive external HARD 750 GB USB2.0/USB3.0
Now, this HARD drive is not recognized on USB 2.0 ports from my laptop (same thing on my desktop computer) but only on the USB 3.0 port.

I have try on port USB2.0 computers different (desktop, laptop) but it doesn't work. The LED is the lightning, but the drive does not appear in the file Explorer.

    You have any ideas?

    Thank you

    > Now this HARD drive is not recognized on USB 2.0 ports from my laptop (same thing on my desktop computer) but only on the USB 3.0 port

USB 3.0 port 900mA feeds. The USB 2.0 port common provides 500mA.
I think that the HARD drive needs more 500mA power in order to work properly.

So if you want to use the HARD drive on USB 2.0 ports, I recommend you to use a USB Y cable which allows to connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports

  • Satellite C660 - need a new hard drive, but which?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1f1 run windows 7 64-bit. 320GB hard drive there and I want to replace preferably with greater capacity, a but I'm not sure what would be appropriate.

    Anyone has any suggestions please?

    Hello

Satellite C660, but also other models of notebooks to new generation supports the SATA controller, which means that you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The size of the HARD disk is not relevant for the compatibility of the devices. This means that you can use HDD of 250 GB, 500GB etc.

But I wouldn't take a HARD drive for an upgrade. I would choose an SSD. This SSD drive is more expensive but believe me; It of certainly worth taking a SSD instead of HARD drive.
You will get great performance gain. This SSD drive is also very quiet.

Maybe it s best option for you

  • Can't erase my hard drive recovery utility

    Hello everyone,

Huge disappointment a few hours ago. My system would not start. Rebooted from OS X Recovery and scanned with utility disk to find out there was a mistake not repairable in the hard disk which told me that I should restore with time machine. Fortunately, I had my backed up system and that's what I was doing. After the process, I found that my data was back, I have not all apps! No safari, no itunes, no store apple to re - install applications, nothing... Maybe I should have stopped here and ask for help, but given that my data has been backed up, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try the other option in the OS X Recovery: reinstall OS X.

So I tried to reinstall OS X. It took a few hours, and when the system was finally restarted to complete the installation, it prompted a message saying that OS X could not be installed (don't remember why).

Now, when I try to start the computer, it automatically goes to the recovery, and practically I can't do anything... I can't use time machine because the hard drive to the mac does not present as an option to install the system. It won't let me delete the partition that the system created to install the OS X either (about 1.3 GB)... the options for 'clear' are grayed out.

I tried to erase everything, but I'm not power, and it seems that there is not much I can do, given all the options appear to be available... What a physical error in the hard drive? It was working perfectly before this happened, and the laptop has not left the office in between.

The system is a MacBook Pro from 2012 (originally with the Mountain Lion and now ran on Yosemite). The hard drive is a semiconductor.

All the miraculous solutions are welcome!

    Thank you!

Should be explained a little more disciplined, please.

For example: the system created to install the OS X is (about 1.3 GB) is not clear: 1.3 GB is much too small to install OSX on it, then of course, you can't go. And you cannot use the RecoveryPartition for anything other than repair or reinstall the disk 'real '. The Partition Recovery itself not even 1 GB by a long shot...

Since you have the TM backup, what you can do is:

in the recovery partition, open DiskUtility, select the disk (not the partition, but the disk with the name 'complicated': DiskUtility should give the size (128GB, 56 GB or other): then in DiskUtility choose tab partition, then the partition: 1 partition, OS X Extended (journaled), (Advanced :) button) GUID Partition table.

a when you're done, exit DiskUtility, select install OSX then TM, or install it directly from TM.

  • Computer does not start if the 150 GB Toshiba HARD drive is connected

Hi, I bought an external hard drive of 150 GB PX1220E of pc world a few days ago. When I start my PC it sticks on the splash screen, and I have to unplug the usb cable and restart the pc, then connect the drive again to use it.

Is this an error with the drive?

    Hello

I googled a bit and it seems that it is really a Toshiba HDD.
However, for me, this is NOT a malfunction.
The external HARD disk is connected before starting. So I think that the computer is trying to boot from the external HARD drive and so it freezes.

You should check the boot order in the BIOS and connect the HARD drive after you start the procedure.

  • Satellite M30 - need to change HARD drive

    Hello

I bought a Satellite SM30-104 (model No.: PSM30E-0QRYK-EN) in 2004 and it seems that the HARD drive is dead since it reboots windows xp family again and again. While Windows is loading, at some point, the laptop restarts from the beginning. I can not even access the Bios.

Therefore, I suspect the HARD drive to be dead and would like to change: SMART MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40 GB, 4200 RPM,.

Could you please let me know where I can buy a new, similar or compatible with more storage?

Your response will be much appreciated!
    Best regards

    Florian PAUMEIR

    > While Windows is loading, at some point, the laptop restarts from the beginning. I can not even access the Bios
    > Accordingly, I suspect the HARD drive to be dead and would like to change: SMART MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40 GB, 4200 RPM,.

Hmm if the HDD died then windows would not load what whatever, and you get an OS message cannot be found.

However, if you want to change the HARD drive then you can do this
You will need a 2.5 IDE HDD. I think the 120 GB limitation due to the LBA28bit
However, it is my personal opinion perhaps more HARD drive would be compatible as well

  • Portege 3500: Need a new HARD drive

    Hello

I bought a Portege 3500 and after a few weeks of use, the hard disk or fan (safe) started to make loud noises and now every time I turn on the laptop screens toshiba rises and it happens eventually to a screen I wrote what he said below.

I read somewhere that this means that my hard drive is over and I have to buy a new hard drive.
Is this true and if so anyone know where I can get a drive hard because the laptop is old?

The only one I've seen that is in stock is of about £230 and it's about the same price, I bought the laptop.
Or is there a solution ive tried going on in all modes but it just restarts and Ive also tried to reinstall the OS using the cd but I can't in the menu option to reinstall XP.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically closed down to protect your files and folders, select last good known Configuration to return to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button has been activated, or if you are not sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows normally.

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
    Start Windows normally

Use top and down arrow keys to move the selection of your choice.

Seconds until Windows starts: 30 "

    Hello

AFAIK Portege 3500 was equipped with the 40 GB IDE HDD.
This is why you must use an IDE hard drives (not SATA).

    Now, it would be important to know what max HD size could be compatible;
If the laptop supports 40 GB I think a 60 GB HARD drive might work too.

I think that you should just google for some 40 GB, 60 GB hard drives, that supports the IDE!

    Best regards
