Need administrator permissions to delete files

I need to remove this folder to get my World of Warcraft, start working again, and I get the pop up "you need give permission to an administrator to remove this folder." Then I hit continue and it happens again. Normally, I would just change my administrator account type, but I already am the administrator.

He always tells me that I need to have administrator permissions to do things I have to do, but it shows my id as an administrator.  The comments say there is a way to change so I am logged in as an administrator and not as standard users, but I don't seem to be able to do.  Please give VERY detailed instructions.  I need to add an ip address to my host file to test something and I can't seem to manage it.

    Try this:
1 log in under an administrator account.
    2 disable UAC *.
    3 edit the file.
    4 turn on UAC.

AFAIR you could also change with an admin account when starting mode safe.

    Hello

Are you facing this problem on the specific file or all the files on your computer?

I suggest manually apply permissions to a file or folder before you face, follow the steps below. Manually apply permissions, it's something that only advanced users should do because you could end up with unexpected results.

    (a) click on file or folderand then click on Properties.
    (b) click on the Security tab, and then click Edit.
    (c) to set permissions for a user who is not listed under group or user names, click Add, type everyone in the name of the user or group, click OK, select the permissions, and then click OK.

  • I can't delete a file. It says I need administrator permission

I can not remove this file, yahtzee - dm.exe.  It says I need administrator permissions. But I AM the administrator and the only user of my PC.  I tried to change the permissions of the folder and the permissions of the file.  No luck.  McAfee keeps popping up saying it is a potentially unwanted program, but it cannot delete the file.  I tried several other malware cleaners, Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware and they do not even see it as a threat.

I want my computer.  How do I do that?

  • Windows 7 won't allow Administrator move or delete a file with unknown owner.

I have recently restored some files from an Acronis True Image backup file.  The image came from an old PC that is running Windows XP, and so I just grabbed the file and placed in a different location.  Now, I can't move or delete files. (Windows twlls me I need administrator permission, I.)  When I check the property of one of these files, Windows tells me that it is "Unable to display current owner", and it does not give me the ability to change the permissions.

It seems that as the owner is unknown, Windows will not let anyone, even the administrator, operated on the file.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you. -Mark

Tonight, I found a link on a previous post, I can check, but I re-installed Windows 7 more than once since my original entry about this and I have not known any insubordination for quite awhile. My last reply was to convey this, but apparently there is no. This happens a few times. I keep an ownership context menu function and did not invoke subinacl for quite awhile, but I have it in hand, just in case. I think that I can call my problem is solved. Norton 360 has helped me keep my system work. In my last post I had not tried. I keep UAC disabled for life and the philosophy of Microsoft notwithstanding, that prevents a lot of irritation and does no harm.

If you right-click on a file, choose Properties, click the Security tab, and click the name of your account that you use, you have check marks in the column allow?  You can modify the permissions by clicking on the button modify and clicking on things, but if the clicks aren't coches appear, then the folder that contains the file must have its permissions changed in the same way (or the folder that contains this file...).

  • "You need give the administrator permission to delete this folder?"

Windows 7. My PC user account shows I am administrator, but it is impossible to delete some files.  Get the message: "' you need give the administrator permission to delete this folder.

Yes, it is in the free version.  It is in the 'Tools' tab to the right part of the screen.  For best results, you should also get "rkill" (you should never download from bleepingcomputer.com - and ABSOLUTELY no PART ELSEWHERE), which is good to put an end to all background processes that prevent you to delete unwanted files and folders.

  • I need to change the host file in Windows\System32\drivers\etc but I get an error message telling me that I need administrator privileges to do this.

I use Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop. I am logged in as Administrator group member why not I have permissions to modify the file (I need to add an IP address to the list)?

I never had this problem when using XP, so why are administrator permissions so darn limited in Windows 7? And why does the system not recognize me as a member of the Administrators group? It's so frustrating.
