Need for an external antenna for desktop - what to buy

My mom just got a new HP desktop.  She lives next door to my sister who has/wireless router.  In the configuration of his computer, the photo shows an external antenna cable that plugs in the back of the tower.  However, in the store, they have a variety of USB things that sound like they do the same work.  His house is about 500 feet of my sisters.  What is the best, most economical solution.  Be precise because clearly I'm not tech savvy.

I think you're at the limit of the standard Wi - Fi if you want to connect to a PC that is inside a House to a wireless router that is in another House of 500 feet away.

If there is a line-of-view between the two houses, then you can consider adding a pair of outdoor access points.  I have a set of an older version of these products, and they work very well for me:

  • Need for clarification in regards if you upgrade memory and HDD invalidates the warranty/support Dell

    Hello!

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 at the end of January. I told the sales guy cat exactly what I needed for and what my budget was. Well, based on his advice, I ended up raising my budget so I could have the best possible computer for my use.

Now, normally, I don't buy a computer on mine, but the person I usually consult wasn't available, so I thought, Hey, the Dell guy cat must know what he's talking about.

The computer he sold me a * disk drive (5200 rpm, I think). I told him that I wanted it for the recording software. After I bought it (buyer's remorse), several people told me that he should have sold me an SSD.

Okay - Here's my thing: I can go buy a SSD and install it. But cancel my expensive service plan and a guarantee that I have? In addition, tech support plan? And regardless if it's a Dell hardrive and I can someone have set up here, or that I have to send the laptop back and have Dell to install one of their SSD to preserve the warranty and service plan?

    Thank you.

With Dell, you are allowed to replace serviceable by the user on your computer without to as voiding the warranty.  Examples being the hard drives, memory, graphics cards, etc.  If ever you have a problem and need to send the unit for repair, you will need to replace your Dell parts provided those and Dell will only be guaranteed components provided by them.

Also, you are more then welcome to install yourself, however if damage you something during the installation it will invalidate your guarantee that you caused the damage.

Yes TLDR you can install anything you want.

  • Need for external monitor for Portege R500

The screen on the R500 (PPR50E-01301TEN) is fine for a use for an hour or two on the go, but if I use it constantly throughout the day, I get a bad neck and headache (perhaps the angle that you have to look as far as its small size). So I want to get the external monitors for her at work and at home. Home preference would be an LCD TV.

The problem is Windows tells me that the screen resolutions supported for the external monitor is 1280 x 768, 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1200. Linux wants to offer me 1280 x 800 or below, although I might be able to fix this with a little tweaking. Assuming that Windows is right, does anyone know of a 18-21 "wide screen monitor or a TV with one of the resolutions supported as its native resolution, or even a resolution supported? I can't find something.

It should probably be 1920x1xxx, 1280 x 768 will be quite grainy close up on a 18 "+ monitor." Why aren't all common intermediate resolutions on the monitors (1440 x 900 or 1680 x 1050) supported? If he can do 1920x1xxx, he should be able to make them.

As much as I know duplicator can not improve things. This external device just flow through the signal from the computer laptop itself.

What resolution do you need for your monitor?

How do I not what SATA driver do I need for the Satellite L300 - 03C so I can make nlite

    Hello

    Your laptop seems to be a Satellite L300 - 03C PSLB8C-03C01X.
As already indicated on your first visit to thread the Toshiba Canada page and choose this model of laptop on the driver page.
    http://209.167.114.38/support/download/ln_bymodel.asp

Then download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (SATA) - image of floppy drive. It of for Vista, but the files in this package should work with Win XP too.
Include these files using nLite to create the new disk Win XP that contains SATA drivers.

Finally use this disk to start.

  • Where can I find external antennas for the extreme UFO from the airport

Where can I find an external antenna for my extreme model of the A1034 (UFO) airport?

You can check with the support of Quickertek , since they used to provide an option for the A1034 AirPort Extreme antenna upgrade. Maybe they might have even a few shares left, even if the product is not on their current site.

    http://www.QuickerTek.com/

If you have a Radio Shack or Fry near your House, take the AirPort Extreme to see if you can find an antenna with a connector that will come into contact with the connector on the AirPort Extreme. Any small, simple antenna will do, the trick is to find one with a connector that fits the AirPort Extreme.

  • Buysing external antenna is required for AIR-AP1230A & B?

I just went through the check tool configuration for a Cisco Aironet AP1230A-A-K9 and then for an AP1230B-A-K9. Two checked the config like OK, but had a warning on the antennas of wireless products. I hope that this means that an antenna is optional, but if I buy a dish, the only supported are those listed here:

    http://www.Cisco.com/warp/customer/779/smbiz/wireless/approvals.html

Is that correct or is buying an external antenna for both mandatory for them to be operational?
