  • I need help to restore a file that I saved on a CD? Just the basics will help you.

I have a skeleton of my Microsoft Money file on my hard drive.  I have my information saved on a floppy disk, but also a CD.  Just, I don't know how to restore the file and can not seem to find it anywhere.  Thank you.

Copy files from a CD-ROM to a hard drive

To copy files from a CD-ROM to a hard disk:

    1. If you already have a folder on your hard disk to contain the files from your CD-ROM, note the full path to your folder (for example, C:\Pictures, D:\Images, and so on) and proceed to step 2. If you do not have a folder for your files, create a new folder:

      1. Click Start, point to programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
      2. Click on the hard drive to contain the new folder. On the file menu, point to new, and then click folder.
      3. Type a descriptive name for your folder and press ENTER. For example, if you want to copy the image files on your hard drive, you can name the folder images, Images or another descriptive name. Note the full path to your folder (for example, C:\Pictures, D:\Images, and so on) and then close Windows Explorer.
    2. Click Start, point to programs, and then click MS-DOS prompt.
    3. At the command prompt, navigate to the CD-ROM drive, and then navigate to the folder that contains the files to be copied. For example, if you want to copy the files in the folder of the drivers on the Windows 98 CD-ROM and your CD-ROM drive is drive D, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:
      d:
      cd\
      Drivers CD
    4. Copy the files from the source to the CD folder in the folder on your hard drive. To continue the previous example, if your source folder is the folder of the drivers on the Windows 98 CD-ROM, your CD-ROM drive is drive D and you want to copy files to the C:\Drivers folder, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:
      Copy *. * c:\drivers

Movie Maker may have problems of compatibility with MP3
files... may be worth a try to convert MP3 files
to WMA before you import into Movie Maker.

There are many programs that can do conversions...
The following freeware is an example...:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory (the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip
(FWIW... installation..., you might want to
Uncheck the box 'all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your MP3 clips on the main screen...

    Select "while"WMA"/ OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

  • Im trying to go to a backup Win 7, but unable to restore backup files

Im trying to restore the backup files to a backup Win 7, but it deosnt let me do

You are this announcement in an XP forum, so I'm assuming that you try to restore the files on a XP computer?

Backup format changed between Windows XP and Windows 7.  Windows is a utility that will restore backups of Windows XP on a Windows 7 computer...
but to my knowledge, there is no use to restore a backup of Windows 7 on a XP machine.
Better to restore the files on another Win 7 machine and then copy or otherwise transfer on your computer running Windows XP.

  • Restore backup file

When you try to restore the backup file to a network drive (c = local machine, x, y, z = network drive), get "Access denied" error when 'creation z:/Statistics' and can restore on drive c. any ideas?

    Steve

    Hello

    ·         You are able to access other network drives?

    ·         What is the exact error?

    ·         Where have you backed up the files in (external hard disks, etc.)?

I suggest you to give permissions for files and folders that you have backed up and check if you are able to access the files and then restore on network drives or not. Follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

  • Restore backup files

On my old computer, I had to restore XP to factory because of problems with system settings. The option I have chosen has allowed me to save my files and I can see the lists of directories and files in the folder "My Backup", but could not find the file that Windows Backup search (extension of .bkp?) to restore. When I click on the icons myself, it just says file cannot be read.

    How to restore these files?

Start-Search-files-folders - .bkp i on comp. This can find them.

  • Restore backup files after the new installation of Vista

I recently had to replace my main hard drive as it has completely crashed and burned.  Fortunately, I thought, I had been diligently backing up to an external hard drive.   So after replaced by a fresh hard drive and a new installation of Vista, I thought I could just restore these files from backup... but no luck.  New Vista does not recognize the old Vista backup.  And it will allow me to migrate these files in any usable fashion.  Is it possible for me to get the new Vista installation to access these backups from the previous installation of Vista?

    Hi Allisonerik,

    (1) what happens when you try to restore?

    (2) you get an error message?

    (3) was it a file, or a backup system image?

I want to clarify if your backup media (external hard drive) is recognizing in Windows.

Method 1: Put the computer to boot and then check to see if you can restore

Follow step 1 in the link below,
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Important: n ' forget not to put the computer to a normal startup follow step 7 in the link.

Method 2: Check your external hard drive to find errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.
