Need to install Win 7 on another Win 7 and keep the programs installed

Short version:

Can I install my purchased copy of Win 7 and crush someone another Win 7 without having to format and reinstall all my programs?

Long version:

I have an old computer that I use for secondary purposes.  Years, I bought Win 7 and it is what is running on it.  A few weeks, one of my friends bought a new computer with Win 8.1 pre-installed.  There is no need of his old computer, and because it was far superior to MY old computer, gave it to me.  It was Win 7 already installed on it, so I thought that the best thing would be for me to install my programs on such matter, rather than to the format and have to deal with all the drivers and other whatnot.

Everything was going well until he told me after trying for a few weeks, he hates Windows 8 and will format the drive and re - install with its Windows 7 disc - the same one that was used on the computer, what he gave me.

This should not be much more of a problem, because I still have MY Windows 7 disc I bought.  I can just load it on the computer.  But what I need to format and start all over again?  Can I leave my programs and all drivers in place and just install my Windows 7 with my activation code, replacing his activation code?  Does make a difference if they are different flavors of Win 7?

Pat

You should be able to simply change the key number (series) and do not have to re - install everything as long as the version that is on the computer, and the version with the key are the same or more.

You can do this by typing slmgr-IPK from an elevated command prompt

    Hello

As you probably know, the Toshiba Recovery disk is not the same as an original Microsoft disc.

The recovery disk contains an image and the use of the recovery disk will format the whole HARD drive and will remove all data stored on the HARD drive.

If you cannot keep the data on the HARD drive using the recovery disk because you will lose.

I think you need to back up the important docs before using the recovery disk.

with one single-user subscription cc, you can install programs Office app and cc cc on an unlimited number of pc and mac computers.

(you can only sign on, at most, two computers at once, but even that isn't a drawback for a single user.)

You can also check with the manufacturer of game for any version upgrade of this game, which could be compatible with windows7.

Yes, if you have the dual operating system on your computer, you can play and record games on xp, start the computer in Xp and you can play the game.

  • Is it possible to defragment AND keep the system restore points to lose in Win XP?

Sometimes my system restore points disappear and I have learned to rely on them.  I heard that defragmentation can erase the system - something to do with the Windows shadow copy service restore points.  Is there a safe way to defragment a hard drive (internal or external) WITHOUT losing any system restore points: both those created manually as well as automatically created? I have a lot of disk space and all criticalWindows updates. No malware. CHKDSK not display any errors.

    Joel-

I really thank you goes out all the time and difficulties that you have not only to explain my problem but at the arrive at a solution that has worked for you.  I already read the CNET critical user of and download Ultimate Defrag, but have not yet installed it because I have a few questions that may be critical to my getting the same wonderful performance you met.  Not wanting to - by my own ignorance - replace one problem with another, can I ask if you know where I can find these answers? :

    (1) my PC has 1 G of RAM an and a Pentium 4 processor, a desktop Dell 8 years.  Have I not enough resources for the programme of work?

    (2) I have two internal HDs - a bunch of 80 G and 40 G Data - with a 1 t external for backups.  Will I be possible to defragment one at a time so that a period of 8 hours at night will give the app some time to run and complete - especially the first time I use it on every HD?

    (3) a review mentions a setting from the default installation for those who have my knowledge minimum tech. Is it choose a wise move in my case? I only will give non-essential options or options I'd understand even when doing this?

    (4) I need to turn off WinPatrol (Start Menu Manager) and install my Avast AV in addition to all the normal precautions for cleaning?

    (5) should I disconnect from the internet before installing (I have a shortcut on the desktop that allows me to turn off my DSL modem)?

    (6) can the program itself or its installer to run in Mode safe and which is preferred? Of course, I would create a prior restore point I have restart mode without failure.

    (7) a critic says that the 50-page help document is of no use to someone with my limited knowledge. Is there a training video or another type of help?

If I have already imposed on you enough, perhaps some other experienced users could help answer the above?

    Thanks again!

  • Given the challenges install Digital Editions 2.0 and have the program initialize correctly.

I need to install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) 2.0 so I can download books for Nook my daughter of our municipal library.

I tried to install 2.0 ADE much too often absolutely nothing works.  After downloading the 2.0 installer ADE, I tried installing with software of Norton antivirus and firewall disabled, enabled, try to restart my computer after a ADE 2.0 installed with protection against viruses and the and every time I tried to do anything with the 2.0 ADE supposed to be installed, it crashes and Microsoft opens its window mail error because ADE 2.0 has encountered a problem.

On one or two occasions I also received this error message:

Digital Editions.exe - error of installation at '0x8514c483' referenced memory at '0x8514c483 '.  The memory could not be "read".  Click 'ok' to complete the program.

I also re-downloaded the Setup program several times under different anti virus software for operating scenarios (software enabled, etc.) and each time after the installation is complete, the program crashes.  Whenever an installation attempt failed, I uninstalled the program and went through a complete installation of ADE 2.0.  Sometimes even using the same install program and also after re - download the 2.0 ADE install program.  Everything I tried failed.

I'm also using an old Windows XP PC, but despite being a relatively old computer, this challenge of installation and initialization should not happen.

Short of finding a copy of version 1.7 of the ADE and see if it will work (has been suggested by sjgt user when replying to a post by su-share on 26 Dec at 0358), does anyone have any suggestions?  This shouldn't be such a challenge.  THX

I have just run into a similar problem with new Nook HD my mother for her books, she retired through the library. However, we found that B & N has available through their site for free applications for libraries using Overdrive Media Software Console and libraries who use the library of cloud M 3. All you have to do is download these free applications to be able to download directly from your library website in your corner.

    OverDrive Media Console: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/overdrive-media-console-overdrive-inc/1113021293

    3 M Cloud Library: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/3m-cloud-library-3m-company/1113021300

Once you have downloaded the correct application for your local library, you can access the app with all of your other applications. Within the app, it's self is where you can find books from your library. My mother was so excited to know we could do this. She is good with a computer, but it takes some time to learn how to do the transfers of file/drag & drop, for a direct download or available is a very big relief of his not having only not learning something new and complicated.

I hope that this help & wishes you and your family.

    ·         What operating system do you use?

Here is an article of AutoCAD which offers solutions for error code 1606 during installation of the autodesk product. Suggestions would be also good for Windows 7 as well.

  • P C tools Antivirus, I installed and now it ask me run Registry Machanic I try, and then he tells me that his stop because of a problem and leaves the program

I installed PC Tools Antivirus (free download) the computer now says always that to run the registry Machanic. I try to start it and then the computer tells me it stops due to problem and then closes the program. How can I fill this?

You uninstall these programs of garbage and use the best programs for protection. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast (free) for an antivirus, ICF (integrated), Windows Defender for protection anti-spyware in real-time (integrated) and the free version of MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware for antispyware which does not resident. I would never recommend registry cleaners. And of course you first make sure that the computer is free of viruses/malware.
